  1. the revs move pretty slow, almost looks like an NA reving also looks like my el falcon but in first gear haha
  2. dont know if that would be safe/reliable, i asked my tuner when my car was being tuned and he was of the opinion that the crankshaft on an RB30 doesnt suit 7000rpm and should not reliably be pushed like that... dont want to start a debate on this, i would only consider doing it the safe way and not pushing limits that are not safe... i would imagine that GTRS would be an absolute response monster with ethanol... is it not being a bit overkill looking for computers to run varying ethanol content?? my tuner was quite happy with tuning it on flex and allowing me to monitor knock levels for changing mixtures.. he suggested if i was concerned about the summer mix being different i could come back for a quick run on the dyno to check the tune.. which i will do in order to look after the engine..
  3. the tuner where i got my splitfires where running the same ones in there 1000hp r34 GTR so they are pretty good...
  4. what is the actual cost of doing an rb30/25? without going into massive detail, just interested in the actual cost comparison for the future assuming you do most of the labour side yourself and get machine shops to do the other obvious parts.. i think it might be a downside having a reduced redline..
  5. where are you reading the boost from and where did the tuner get the boost from? when i had my r33 with stock computer it went all the way upto 16psi a few times without any sort of a boost cut, was more like a flatlining rather than a violent cut, but alot of others seem to have issues at 10-12psi, was it cutting out on the dyno ?
  6. the normal position for the nipple is not after the intercooler, it is actually right on the side of the turbo where is the boost controller getting its reading? the boost reading could be different in those two places, most likely higher at the turbo so it may be boosting upto 14psi
  7. heres a list that id check/look over 1) replace that blow off valve with the stock- leaks will make it on/off 2)check the actuator hose is not cracked and plumb it back to the before intercooler ( normal ) position 3)if its a bellmouth dump its ok, if its a split one then its probably jamming the flapper 4)the turbo could be a highflow that has a small flapper that cant handle the flow 5)12psi would be near RandR and also the coilpacks could be not handling the extra boost. 6) check its a standard turbo, if not it could be surging and giving the on/off 7) inspect the actuator condition, is it damaged, not on properly. 8) was the fuel tank clean when they replaced the pump?
  8. what you describe sounds like the vacumn leak i had a few weeks ago, it would register boost to the boost guage but most of that was leaking till it got over 5psi and got fed some of it...then it would actually accelerate. does it idle smoothly? is it a bit jerky?
  9. the ethanol smells awesome and would make your setup haul for not much money..
  10. i dont know much about gt3082's, my turbo doesnt feel like its an on/off turbo like the gt3082sounds, mine feels very efficient and on throttle is torquey even off boost and with 5psi in third is taking off, the mightly rush happens at 4000-4500rpm and never runs out to 7000rpm, but its not like a switch, up some steep hills it will pull you in the seat even at 3000rpm... so without experiencing a gt3082 i cant say, but i can say this turbo is showing its presence even without the 4000rpm etc revs... i agree though if you dont want to run atleast 20psi then the gt is better...
  11. if you compare micko's gtx3071 with the gtx3076 the power curves are almost identical, even the boost response is identical, i do admit i have cams ( not sure if they really benefit the boost response, might even slow it down) and external gate so maybe this has brought my turbo up to his level , but the difference in boost levels is just as significant, im running 5-6psi less in the whole rev range.. Seems the gtx3076 has been taking a bad wrap for a long time, and the gtx3071 is described as more responsive/better turbo and the turbo of choice, compare the two graphs and they are equal, the gtx3076 should even be in first place, and with over 350kw potential its a winner in my eye..... obviously setup dependent ( external gate, E85, proper tune, engine condition etc) might add some in car footage soon ..
  12. Its an external wastegate, tial 44mm with a 0.82rear housing , i doubt it could ever fall over It looks that way because of how the boost controller was set, i put in 90%duty up till 3500rpm to try and get it boosting early, and 60% for 3500-7000rpm we never touched it on the dyno , just did a run and because the power was what i was after, decided to leave it where it was, there is no problem getting it too hold 20psi all the way thru if we wanted to, but this way the engine isnt being leaned on so hard toward the end of the revs, so a quick adjustment on the controller would see 350kw probably, but i dont want to be rebuilding an engine for a while yet so will just leave it for a while.
  13. how good is that HD clutch hey?? is holding alot of power .. i know it will eventually let go with some abuse at the drags but its not doing too bad at all
  14. haha.. even when cruising its like a kettle whistling and whining , dont have need for the radio much these days lol
  15. didnt think of that one, but its not that expensive to have a fabrication shop do some cutting and rewelding, that bit could have been removed too but i just decided to shave it ,
  16. heres a video from the tune.. and yes the rear bumper ill eventually get painted ..
  17. i just looked one of the video's i took , its actually before 4000rpm, ill try to upload it to show proof of the road speed v's revs, it looks like 100km/hr is about 3500rpm in 4th so if thats right then i have 20psi at about 3800ish
  18. thanks mate, the juice had the tuner shaking his head laughing, he did the tune in about 45min which was pretty good going, additional costs were injectors and rail - $830 fuel reg- $270 modifying manifold -$50 others hoses, fitting ,fuel etc -$200 tune$200-$300 shit sounds like alot, best not thinking bout the total dont have an ethanol analyser, its been tuned on the richer side and im just going to keep an eye on the knock levels.
  19. yeah 20psi at 4000rpm and yes stock manifold and gate off the housing, i have a 3 1/2inch system and 3inch muffler ,
  20. thanks mate.. would of been a bit lost without your DIY top feed thread... dont know if gtx is the way to go though, lol... that extra 500rpm or so response that a gt might give would be a good improvement..
  21. thanks for the replies, It would definitely hit atleast 350kw i think, but i think for my budget and for a street car it is at a point of being just a nice package, im not sure bout fitting better tyres yet, seems like too much fun to fry them up at will, i guess if you were being picky and wanted perfection, the gt would of shifted the power band to the left a bit but its done now.. when i bought the car with 200kw, it sounded doughy and lazy like alot of them you see on the road, now it clearly sounds unique and has a strong and angry note to it.. even just light throttle letting the revs climb , it sounds like dog flarring its teeth...
  22. yeah i think 320kw with stock engine is enough for me, and 16psi must be very safe so it should last a while hopefully... its 20psi in the midrange so im not missing out on too much i dont think.. very happy with it yeah... even idles smoother now and not jerky, very smooth and comes on boost alot better...
  23. yeah i know, ill leave that to someone else lol... i just wanna enjoy driving it for a while, only been driven a few times in the last 8months.. im still giggling at the drive home from the dyno... lol .. this is how these cars should be.. frying the tyres up in second easy..
  24. it was from caltex so ill just fill up from caltex , theres 7 servo's within 30min drive so hopefully they are all similar ethanol content, tuner said to keep an eye on the knock level and he can adjust the mixture if theres any knock issues, so far its very low knock... dam this fuel smells good.. mm
  25. im back baby!!! lol.... just tuned with some flex fuel today and i think the gtx has earned its place under the bonnet finally... 20psi by 4000rpm, thats what i was after so happy finally, idle is smooth too now added upto 6degree of timing all over the map and was mind boggling how good the flex fuel has made the setup.. even tuner was amazed.. on the drive back to the shop it easily fried 2nd , more like a burnout in second and third pulled so hard it was getting frightening lol.... 320kw with flex fuel on 16psi , i think that might makes the gtx not too shabby...it spikes early but it is 16psi that makes that power unless im reading it wrong. It could have done bit more but with stock bottem end was not wanting to lean on things too much.. so im really happy with this result, no more than 20 knock on the power fc so is very safe too... anyway, what do you guys think.. is this dyno respectable? do you think this dyno justifies the gtx or would the gt of been even better???
