  1. haha, silverS2 it was supposed to be, your right it delays the opening so the exhaust valve , but i dont think its shifting power downwards, more like it increasing the filling of the cylinders and there efficiency at higher rpm ( more than 3000rpm) until they reach a restriction in the system, the drop at the top end your talking about is probably the turbo and exhaust manifold and system that start building backpressure which then becomes a traffic jam and decreasing or flatlining the top end, thats with a stock/small turbo, with my dyno graph you can see there is no loss or flatlining upto, its just keep climbing cause theres no restrictions. advancing the cam would make the combustion more efficient by decreasing the overlap,
  2. I found the best muffler for sound reduction was my fujitsubo 3 1/2inch cannon with silencer inside, it was virtually silent idling, and looking round import wreckers 90% of mufflers had the silencer in them too, all Jasma complient Now i have a 3inch Oval muffler which isnt annoying loud, sounds quite good but probably over 90db, It really does come down to the pipe size, If a turbo skyline can make 250kw with a 2 1/2inch silencer, then a 2inch is probably heaps for the little power an NA will ever make, and alot quieter too. 2inch might actually help make more power cause im pretty sure you need a bit of backpressure with a NA motor.
  3. I think your move moving the band upwards, if your retarding it your delaying the closing of the exhaust valve so this is not going to improve anything but mid and top end power, you allowing the engine to breath when the revs are higher, When your advance it your closing the exhaust valve earlier so more efficient responsive on bottem and some mid but not efficient at the top end cause the motor cant breath as well My tuner said the cam gears see most gains on engines without cams, if you have cams they dont produce as good a gains, and you will loose bottem end to give to top end, i dont have cam gears and my idle is as lumpy as a wrx,
  4. sold pending payment
  5. Looking for $60... anyone?
  6. Does someone want these?? $60
  7. VK commodore with an RB, massive face palm.. please leave the RB where it belongs!
  8. Yeah it is a bit big for 260kw's , it lags down low and you need 4000rpm before it pulls , but like i said its not slow under that, it keeps up with traffic and im happy with it, but to maximise the whole power band, either a smaller trim or o.63 might have been a better compromise upto 260-270kw, but i choose my turbo with 300kw in mind and for possible E85 later on with a forged engine so it suits that purpose. Today it was just starting to get loose in 2nd on a flat road no bumps, i think the 0.82 housing makes it smoother and less loose at the rear so im not sure but 0.63 may have been more fun in that way...
  9. hmm well to be completely honest here, this gtx3076 seems to be a top end kind of turbo, im running 15psi and floor it down low and it reacts a bit but takes till 4000rpm then its hello and pulls away, so maybe more like a gt35 im guessing, but this week ill be upping boost to 18-20psi and we'll see if it can come on earlier...but to be honest .. im am over the moon with this, even off boost this pulls like when i had a gt2871 highflow so boost is really not so relevant even here. But i think a normal gt3076 with 0.63 and methanol injection or E85 may have been the ultimate setup now that i think about it, and discopotato seems to be quite accurate with his recommendations. oh and full boost seems to be around 4000rpm, 5psi immediately around 3000rpm and under then around 3500rpm it quickly hits 10psi and then fast to 15psi.
  10. NPC heavy duty clutch , rated for 300kw plus.. ^^^^^^^^^^^ DO IT !!! JUST DO IT!!
  11. shit im must be doing alright then i have 170psi in most cylinders and lowest bout 165, and i have 170 000km's id be shitty if it were under 160psi..
  12. NPC clutch 300kw rating and use power fc with AFM
  13. id try 280-300kw on pump fuel before you get ahead of yourself... i just got 260kw with a gt3076 and its pulling so hard that i know its even enough for the street now, but still going back for 280-300kw just for bragging purposes lol
  14. your a good bloke mate! Respect!
  15. Mate , first thing is to know where you are going with this, i started out with a highflow but you may soon get bored with that and wish you had more then wish you had just got a proper garrett turbo to take car of business, dont do things twice its too expensive....either do half measure with stock computer or go all the way and spend $$$$ my advice is get a highflow and be happy with say 220kw.. or go all way with a gt3076 or hypergear and go 280-300kw and know you have a real beast.....
  16. If your looking for a good tuner go see Gavin Woods, i got mine tuned by him yesterday and he had the whole thing sorted in a few hours, and i was allowed in the dyno room to watch and see the whole process, you wont get ripped off either.
  17. yeah i asked about that, i dont think that dyno is set up for it and was going to be a hassle to adjust, but 120kph is about 3800rpm , I bought the wastgate second hand so all i have is a box of springs that arnt labelled, gate was too hot to do a swap.
  18. what is smoothing? it was responding well to boost, started at 210kw at like 10psi, then 250with 14psi so seems a good gain from a few psi, 600NM of torque is pretty good with 15psi ?? its very smooth delivery though, was hoping for a bit more anger in its delivery.
  19. Car was tuned today, mods are in sig, The spring used was not enough to go above 15psi so will have to return next thursday to up the boost to 18psi On the road it pulls hard once it hits the midrange, after being used to 200kw, its taking a bit to get used to lol. Hopefully with 18psi it will see 290-300kw. whats peoples opinions?

  22. get a piece of pipe and put your ear to it and test where the noise is, could it possibly be a worn bearing in one of the pullies? i have this noise on a falcon ute but its constant , pretty sure its a bearing noise from worn pully.
  23. I think you should avoid silly bov and other useless all show and shine crap, if your going down the modification route you need to make up your mind where you will end up... The Goal determines what you need, are you prepared to spend $5k on bolt on mods to get upto 280kw or do you just want great response and be happy with 220kw.. it gets expensive very quick.... you can have fun with 220kw's which is stock computer with a highflow, more and you will end up spending alot of $$$ stock turbo's are shit, atleast hi flow it with somthing that can run 18psi safely
