Compared to the cost of owning an R34 the cost of one tyre is negligable. Take your wheel off and take it to Bob Jane and tell them what you want, I'm sure they could organise it for you. It's a good idea to keep the same tyres on the same axle as each tyre will have different characteristics and grip levels

I wouldn't get that car. My engine doesn't leak a drop of oil. Be patient and wait for the right car to come up. RACV tests are useless IMO - leak down and compression test are the only worthwhile tests that you can't do yourself (assuming you don't have those tools)

Vic R33 96" S2 Gtst Mpec 5spd For Sale
Greg replied to dannycccc's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Hi Danny, Your car looks very clean. I have a few additional questions to ask: 1. do you have a copy of the auction sheet? 2. has the timing belt been changed? 3. by private import, do you mean you lived in Japan for a minimum of 12 months and brought the car back with you? Judging by the Japanese rear seat belts I would say this is the case? Thanks, Greg -
Hi all, I have a weird problem with my steering wheel. It does not affect the drivability of the car, but it's just annoying. When I turn the wheel, it feels as if something just behind the wheel is being turned with it. It get's to a point, and then 'drops' and makes a clunking noise. I have a few theories: 1. the mechanism that cancels the indicators once you have turned a corner has come loose and is floating around in there 2. there is some sort of "weight" in there that could control the speed sensitive weight of the weel (ie steering effort required) - weight of steering is still ok though 3. indicator control box. just before this problem started, my indicators started making a funny, hollow sounding ticking noise. they are back to normal now though SOLUTION: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...+steering+wheel

Wat Can I Use To Dye The Rubber Around My Windows
Greg replied to bLaQ.bOi's topic in General Maintenance
TYRE BLACKENER (I use amourall foam) followed by some Silicon spray lubricant It made my sunroof rubber look like new, and it is nice and supple. -
perhaps you should source some of that unsniffable petrol they have introduced to part of the NT

ignuz, visit www.nismo.com.au for details and pricing on the box. it cost my $195 two years ago. based on my previous run on the dyno i was expecting about 90rwkw. hmm that formula isn't consistent with my observation. 100km/h / 28 * 1000 = 3571 rpm. i think that formula based on GTS25t ratios? i didn't believe the 500nm either - i'll scan in the dyno graph and show you though FYI.
-
you could try resetting your computer. you do this by disconnecting your battery - do a search for more info.

Looking forward to seeing your dyno graph BADR33

I think the only way for dyno readings to be comparable is to use the same dyno on the same day in the same gear. I guess the dyno i used was set conservatively. Yeah the dip is a bit strange... hopefully cleaning the AFM sorts out the issues The torque is low... last time I dynoed it was mid 500 nm. In reality it feels torquier than ever so it must just be a dyno setting again. Hey mate My friend's black 180sx also has an exhaust leak, as you guessed. It is still the quickest car I've been in to date though Have you had your leak fixed yet? if so did it make much difference? Did you calculate the peak power rpm based on n/a ratios? On the way home I observed that 100 km/h is 3750rpm in 4th gear. Based on this: 3750 / 100 * 150 = 5625rpm? Cheers

Hi Chriso, Yeah it is a silicon type glue. Sikaflex in what compliancers use to glue the restricter in place. Mine has held up fine so far but it hasn't been very long. Sikaflex is a general autmotive glue and sealer. It's used to hold bodykits on. It also has marine uses, It looks as if yours was held in place by gasket goo! Cheers Greg

New Kyb Shocks - Able To Handle About 230rwkw?
Greg replied to benl1981's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Maybe your friends shocks are seized - this is what happened to my rear shocks. they were very hard to compress, and didn't rebound at all! Let us know how the KYB's turn out -
thanks for your positive input to me this result seems relatively consistent with other forums user's results. i suppose no dyno is ever "accurate"... you are always making compensations. how much do you reckon a rb25de should pull?

Hi everyone, I recently took a mate to Dr Drift's workshop in Brooklyn to pick up his car from tuning. Whilst there was tempted to put my car on the dyno to see what effect, if any, my recent mods had (refer this thread). Run was done in 4th gear. The last time I had my car on the dyno (Vic N/A dyno day back in November 2003 ) it made 81rwkw in 4th gear. At the time I was disappointed with this, however I believe the dyno was set rather conservatively as all RB25DE's dynoed that day read around this range (mine was actually the highest on the day ). So I would NOT say that my recent mods added 25rwkw, but they definitely gave some improvment. For those who don't know the details of my engine, they are as follows: - 7/1995 RB25DE seriesII engine - Apexi power intake pod filter - UAS cold air box with cold air feed - Coby extractors, heat wrapped - HKS 2.5" exhaust system cat back - Advanced timing (Dr drift/Sam said it was advanced from stock, don't know exact figure) Because my engine is running too lean throughout the rev range, there is still more power to be gained, perhaps with a SAFC. I'm going to try cleaning my AFM first. btw don't use carby cleaner for this as it eats the finish on the sensor (to paraphrase Sam). CO (contact) cleaner is the stuff to use, available from Jaycar. Regards Greg

New Kyb Shocks - Able To Handle About 230rwkw?
Greg replied to benl1981's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I was running bilstein shocks in the rear and standard in the front for some time with standard springs and the car drove beautifully. Pay the extra and get the Bilsteins you won't regret it. Refer here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=85467 -
there is a 4 stud set for sale on NS.com for $1000 with good rubber (one rim is scuffed)

Why Do Exedy Clutches Not Fit Series2 R33?
Greg replied to RANDY's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I would definitely give it a go but I have already purchased a new Exedy clutch for my RB25DE (not the engine we are discussing anyway) Someone take Andrew up on this offer!! -
Why Do Exedy Clutches Not Fit Series2 R33?
Greg replied to RANDY's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Interesting... I was told directly by Exedy sales people that Series II GTS25ts use a pull type but GTS25s used a push type the whole way through. ... it will be interesting to see if you need to make a 110% payment -
Factory Option R33 Front Bar Identification
Greg replied to Greg's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Thanks for putting in the effort mate It is possible that it is aftermarket. I assumed it was genuine Nissan since SKYLINE was embossed in the perfect skyline font that we all know and love. I also figured that an aftermarket bar would not specifically cater for a side mounted intercooler over a front mount. It just had a factory look about it But I guess it must be aftermarket. Hopefully I see the car again when I have a camera on me Have you got any larger photos of your bar? -
I saw a gunmetal grey R33 at knox today with the number plate SAM-XXX with a quite unique, and very nice looking front bar. Unfortunately I don't have a camera phone so I couldn't take photos, but I will describe it in the hope that someone knows what I'm talking about. Distinguishing features: - One air vent on the LHS (presumably for intercooler) - In the space were the air vent would be on the RHS, there is no vent, just a place perfectly sized for a Japanese number plate (number plate is side mounted) - "SKYLINE" embossed in large letters in the centre of the bar, where the number plate would usually sit - indicators pure orange (ie not the split type that look like they have a foglight in them as well) My current theory is that it was a NISMO option Does anyone have any idea what I'm on about???

Castor Rods - Adjustable Or Just Standard?
Greg replied to arbess's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Some time ago now I installed polyurethane castor rod bushes from Pedders for ~$260 installed. These were offset to increase castor 1.5 degrees either side. I then replaced the bushes with adjustable rods, so I could dial in more castor and have it infinitely adjustable, should the car bump any gutters etc. These cost $250 in a group buy from UAS and if anything were more comfortable than the poly bushes. This is one of the best handling mods I have done. -
Running rich. Skylines are notorious for this - try a search for more info.
