  1. underevving can be as bad as overrevving. i dont warm mine up as such but always rev it no more than 3000rpm until the oil pressure drops. also never use much throttle when cold (ie rev it out slowly (maybe 20% throttle))
  2. Hi everyone, I'm thinking of upgrading to an R34, however I have a bit of an investment in suspension components on my R33. Just wondering, if I get the R34 how much of it can I transfer over, specifically: Shocks Springs Swaybars Strut braces Castor rods Hicas lock bar (do r34s have hicas?) I would guess not much is compatible but worth a try Thanks Greg
  3. it would depend on the overall rolling diameter. if you have a larger rolling diameter then ground clearance would by higher.
  4. yes swaybars are a must i love mine! but this is no swaybar that we will be getting! more like a strut brace
  5. I coated all moving parts in silicone spray and the windows now wind a lot smoother, quieter and quicker. You have to pull your door trim off to do it properly.
  6. Interested in pineapples and potentially some other bushes.
  7. Eug - thanks I didn't realise that they made one for the BCNR33. I think it would be compatible with GTS/t but would want to confirm. Do you have a link to a shop that can supply one?
  8. I have heard they they make a difference. I'm willing to give it a shot for under $200. Does anyone actually have one fitted?
  9. I had to perform some roadworks on my gf's driveway/road for me to get in without scraping! I literally got out there with a shovel and filled in holes. My car is just the right height to not have to worry about scraping anywhere else though.
  10. I'd like a R33 floor brace, the one which runs just behind the front seats and bolts to the 2 front seat belt mounts. They make them for R32 and S13 but haven't seen for R33. If we can get sufficient interest I will organise for them to be fabricated. Probably need 10+ people and I won't be getting one unless it is under $200 to give you an idea of pricing. Melbourne only unless you are willing to organise your own freight.
  11. The standard rear R33 GTR swaybar is 27-28mm. This is comparable to the whiteline 28mm heavy duty bar. Although they would be made of different materials which could affect the torsion strength.
  12. What a massive ask
  13. Thanks for that, only thing missing now is a dyno graph! Do you have plans to dyno it?
  14. Price drop to $30. I am going to throw these out if they don't sell in 1 month
  15. It is meant to idle at approx 1500rpm for about 5 min or so until the engine warms up. It should not fluctuate however. I'd start by giving it a decent service. At minimum change engine oil, oil filter and air filter (or clean air filter). Its amazing how much difference an oil change can make.
  16. eek that would be bad. ca18de silvias are slow enough! Good luck with the purchase FLYR33. If you want someone who knows skylines to look over it for you let me know I'd be happy to help. Cheers Greg
  17. eek that would be bad. ca18de silvias are slow enough!
  18. I found it humerous.
  19. Thanks for the post! Any problems you ran into during the build? Most of us on here would already have the RB25DE, so to build the engine, costs would be: - RB30E bottom end ($400?) - new bearings etc for bottom end ($200?) - labour to fit RB25DE pistons and new bearings ($500?) - new head gasket ($100?) - adjustable fuel pressure regulator ($200?) - new fuel pump ($300?) - Apexi SAFC + dyno tuning ($500) - Porting head ($300?) Estimated total (please correct me, I just guessed the prices) - $2,500 How much did it cost you to build yours DON? Did you need larger injectors? Is the new throttle body necessary or just a nice addition to help it breath easier? Would there be room for the bonnet to close still in an R33? Thanks for your input I don't want to go all out on an RB30DE with new pistons and cams and all the rest but I'm definitely interested in gaining an extra 0.5 litres displacement if the price is right. Otherwise I'll go the RB25DET or RB30DET option. The RB30DET is more likely to add value to the car in terms of resale price imo. RB30DE would add maybe $500. RB25DET would push the resale price to just below a GTS25t.
