  2. my spacers need planing back because they stick out about 5 mm too much - that's why my doors are hard to close i think. so i might see what i can do about that and then head down to knox as well...only one present to go i'll let u know when i get there and we can meet up or something
  3. yeah i'll probably end up staying longer! what u up to today brad, let's cruise
  4. I'll be there...probably can only stay for an hour or so though
  5. Hey Chris welcome to the forum! Check out the R33 GTS25 for sale for $11000 on this site - it's a bargain!located in Melbourne as well. see http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=30053 for details. shop around and you might find a R32 for $10000 but remember to allow for the other costs such as stamp duty, insurance, registration etc. cheers
  6. sounds great dan...can you roughly estimate the overall cost for this?
  7. turbo version will fit but it will be droney and most likely lose a bit of power - however if the turbo system has 2.25" piping that'll be fine, are you sure the exhaust is from a turbo if the piping is that small? i have a 2.5" stainless steel muffler for sale to suit non turbo cars, i'll accept any reasonable offer (only muffler). this is the size piping i have on my non-turbo r33. see http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=29632
  8. great idea greg i reckon a weekend would be good - we could even get a bbq and stuff happening. if you guys want to come up to mt dandenong some time i could plan an awesome cruise route for us name a time and place and i'll be there. i don't mind driving to northern suburbs if it means seeing lots of skylines lined up in a carpark. i've just finished school and not working much so i'm free any time.
  9. i just got pedders offset castor bushes fitted today - $275 including 4 wheel alignment. not too cheap but i needed it done urgently otherwise i would have waited for the whiteline bushes. the new bushes fixed my castor wheel alignment problems so the car no longer pulls to the left and the turn in greatly improved, the car feels like brand new. i cannot believe how much difference the new bushes have made to the feel of the car. they've made it heaps more enjoyable to drive!
  10. Letter i sent to transport minister today. Mr Peter Batchelor Minister for Transport 80 Collins Street Melbourne Victoria 3000 3rd December 2003 To Mr Peter Batchelor, Re: “Novice” driver law changes Thank you for your letter dated 28th November 2003 detailing changes to legislation regarding leaner and probationary (or “novice” as you describe) drivers. This information was very educative. However, I wish to express my concern and disagreement with the changes made. I fail to see how the new law regarding loss of license for learner and probationary drivers (5 points in any 12 month period) fits in with the “arrive alive! road safety strategy”, as you claim. If anything, all the new law will achieve is to force drivers to be more vigilant of their speedometer (to avoid a speeding fine that will accrue them demerit points) and thus pay somewhat less attention to what is happening on the road around them. Like most drivers, I rate my safety and the safety of other road users around me as the single most important concern when I am driving – more important than breaking the law. I would prefer to concentrate on the road and unknowingly speed a little rather than injure others or myself due to spending too much time checking the speedometer. To me, this is what road safety is about – preventing accidents by being alert, paying careful attention to the road and other road users, knowing exactly what is going on around you and being aware of what could potentially happen – not simply obeying the speed limit by keeping your eyes fixed to the speedometer and hoping everything else will be fine. Propaganda such as the “Speed Kills” campaign has fed the belief that by simply not speeding you will be a safe driver. It needs to be stressed by authorities and advertising campaigns that road safety problems cannot be solved by simply obeying the speed limit. I have completed several defensive driver training courses, and at not one of those was there discussion relating to speed limits. This is because they realise that there are plenty of other far more important issues to be addressed in order to improve the level of safety for road users. In your letter you urged “all learner and probationary drivers to drive responsibly and help reduce the unacceptably high number of novice driver deaths on our roads”. You are on the right track with this statement, but I cannot see how imposing tougher penalties and the looming threat of losing one’s license will help people to “drive responsibly”. If anything it will cause people to be nervous about driving, paying less attention to the road and more to their speedometer. Finally, the new rules seem unfair. “Novice” drivers have more potential to accrue demerit points, but can accrue less points before losing their license (than more experienced drivers). Why should “novice” drivers be expected to be better drivers and commit less traffic offences than more experienced drivers? With less driving experience our car control skills are not as good as that of drivers with more years experience, and this should be recognised. After all, a “novice” driver is just that – a NOVICE, a beginner. If anything “novice” drivers should be able to accrue a larger number of demerit points than more experienced drivers before losing their license. We are still learning to drive. Go easy on us. Firm and unjust law changes such as those you detailed in your letter will only breed a culture of contempt for law-makers. This will flow onto contempt for those who enforce the laws – the police force. This will ultimately be detrimental to society. Law-makers and the police force need respect for society to function correctly. Respect is earned, and by implementing these discriminatory laws you have lost some of my respect. Yours Sincerely Greg ******* Probationary Driver
  11. I'm in the process of writing a formal letter of complaint to express my views directly to the minister for transport. Main points: Why are p platers expected to be better drivers than non p plate drivers, even with less experience? P platers have more ways to lose points (new harsh penalty for not displaying plates) but less points to lose - doesn't make sense. Points from before the rule came into effect should not count. Enough restrictions on us already - alcohol, passenger restriction if u lose license etc... why make us more likely to lose our license as well? by simply not displaying plates and getting caught for two minor speeding offences (less than 10km/h over limit) we could lose our license. fantasic. Voting liberal next election for sure.
  12. i think only one was auto - aphixx's car
  13. from memory Dr_drift said that he tunes turbo cars to 0.8 but n/a's can run a little leaner, I think 0.9 was acceptable??
  14. hehe go the 1600 What I found most interesting was the power curve of my car compared to say cortide's car, which is dead stock. This fairly linear curve is no doubt due to the extractors - _turtle_'s car with the same extractors as mine (Coby) showed a similar curve. To actually see proof that spending money on my car gives real results is pretty satisfying - it's not all just for noise making purposes All dyno results were taken in 4th gear (except for one of funkys runs).
  15. chicane was the other guy interested, i sent him a pm, hopefully he reads it in time.
  16. not open wheeling but i had really bad axle tramp...funny thing is that it went away just after i had bought the oil, but i thought i may as well change it anyway and i'm glad i did
  17. i'll volunteer to get there at 8
  18. went back today and got castrol VMX80 80w90 gear oil because i thought i should do what owners manual says. also got a pump. changed it myself, easy job - takes 1.3 litres. it feels heaps smoother around corners, i'm heaps more confident to enter corners at speed now
  19. yeah it is a viscous LSD, so i guess autobarn 'idiot' was right, well half right. he didn't know that i had a viscous LSD. i looked in a mates owners manual tonight and it reccomends hypoid gear oil 85w-90 - which is non-lsd oil so yeah. but if its not going to wreck anything then i'll just put in the lsd oil, as you said B1, it can't hurt. thanks for the replies guys
  20. I need to change the oil in my diff (its limited slip) so i went to nissan to see what they recommended. i was told to use Mobil LS90 synthetic lsd oil. is this correct? i went to autobarn and they don't stock it but the guy there looked up a catalogue and he said for all nissan diffs you can use non-lsd oil in limited slip diffs. he was convinced i should get non-lsd oil. i then ran out of the shop it didn't sound right to me! so what do you guys reckon? i ended up getting castrol lsd oil from bursons (who said the guy at autobarn was an idiot). so is the guy at autobarn really an idiot or is it ok to use non-lsd oil in a lsd? thanks Greg
  21. lol  i was confused, brain has entered holiday mode DYNO DAY IS saturday 29th, NOT 22nd. That date was in my mind because that was date originally planned! funky you should come along
  22. Lost this thread amongst others when server went down. When: this saturday 29nd November, 9:00 am Where: BMT Motorsport: 5 Abbott Street, Fairfield. PH 9497 5600
  23. not only are the tolerances reduced, but the penalties are increased. for example, i was done for 92km/h in an 80 zone on lysterfield road. fair enough i deserved a ticket, but THREE DEMERIT POINTS wtf?! the fine was $200, which i also think is a little excessive, but its the demerit points that really piss me off. I've had my license 4 months and i'm already a quarter of the way to losing it
  24. here you go. this is my car the day i got it, stock as a rock. standard rims are 15". rubber 205/60/15
  25. mine need replacing too, i'm considering whiteline bushes...
