  1. umm well its not really sucking its kind of like a shrill vibrating almost metallic sound...very hard to describe. you might like it but its not my thing
  2. what i was trying to say is that the top end power was probably unchanged but it just felt less in comparison to the power that was made available in the low to mid range. still making no sense!? pstanbis, the sucking sound is very annoying isn't it i was told by an exhaust shop that it is resonance in the extractors. ways to reduce the noise (by muffling the sound): . wait for them to be coated in carbon/exhaust residue. mine quietened down after about 1500km's, but only a little. . wrap them in exhaust wrap. i considered this but its quite expensive, if not done properly shortens the life of the extractors. its a bit of a hassle to take the extractors off, clean them of all rust etc, then paint, wrap and paint them, and then put them back on.
  3. sorry i don't have what you are asking for but i am about to buy some springs myself. did the whiteline springs deteriorate ride quality much? would you recommend them? thanks
  4. coby extractors (about $350) - www.partsco.com fujitsubo extractors - (about $2500) - www.takakaira.com i only have experience with coby extractors (quite a few others on here have them) and they gave a lot more low to midrange power making the car a lot quicker for normal, everyday driving. i maybe lost a little top end power, but it may only feel like that due to the increased low to mid power (if that made sense). i highly recommend them.
  5. nismoman, i agree local stuff can be made to be just as good as jap stuff if it is done by a skilled person. a few of my mates have had very bad experiences with places like midas, mr muffler etc so make sure you get a performance shop or a place with a good reputation to make it for sure. for a nice quiet system copy the design of the super drager if you don't want to get the real thing: it uses 2 resonators. a hotdog resonator immediatly followed by a small muffler. the final barrel muffler is not straight through in design. true, pod filters aren't that noisy by themselves. however once i fitted extractors, the pod is louder than my exhaust at times pstanbis, i haven't done CAI yet, but a mate did it to his vl and it feels fantastic. i might knock up something in the next couple of days (school holidays:D) and post up how i go
  6. Krys, a pod makes a lot of noise but needs a proper cold air intake to work well. go the hks super drager exhuast especially for n/a's. its got a nice note but its not noisy. epa laughed when they tested it because it was so obviously legal. no drone, ever. it's expensive though at about 1500 brand new.
  7. are the kits from good jap brands like Trust, Jun, DoLuck etc fibreglass or plastic??
  8. Thanks for that it hadn't occurred to me to replace the timing belt due to age - its a 95 series I model so its approaching 9 years old so timing belt should be done
  9. Hey guys, I'm just about to hit 40k and was wondering if anything apart from oil and oil filter should be done?? I'm pretty sure the odometer reading is genuine due to the condition of the interior. Cheers Greg
  10. so what ended up happening if u don't mind my asking?
  11. good to see you got it all fixed so quickly and no body damage So any chance of you posting up this footage? i want to see some n/a whale drift action
  12. haha its ok guys i was never actually considering getting one, waste of money and completely unnecessary. i was just curious if there was a reason for it saying on the package "for turbo and n/a models" - like if there was any benefit in running a non turbo car for a bit after you stop. i usually run it for about 30 sec after i stop just while i grab shit off my back seat, tidy things up a bit etc anyway thanks for the replies
  13. Hey guys, I was looking at turbo timers the other day with a mate, and i noticed that on a few of them it said "for turbo and n/a models". What would be the advantage of idling a non turbo car for a few minutes after you stop? Cheers Greg
  14. its usually at least 5 min before i realise mine are folded back. i then fold them out, embarassed i reckon it looks cool folding them out when you're driving along haha
  15. 50kg is shit all...this v8 must be have an alloy block? i guess the rb25 with cast iron block would weigh a fair bit. Darker, sorry to hijack your thread. in reply to your first post, that all sounds great, let us know how you go. the only thing is about that cat - get it from BATMBL on these forums (see his thread in the for sale section). get a 3" cat from him and put that in. he gets them cost price of something, so they work out a lot cheaper. i payed $250 for a hiflow 2.5" cat and i could have got a hi-flow 3" from him for $180.
  16. VH45DE hey john!? awesome what happened to the RB30DET idea? skyline with a v8 will definitely be unique. as you say all the torque should make for a good drifter, but what about the extra weight up front? might understeer a fair bit... anyway good luck with the conversion cheers greg
  17. thanks for explaining it all, i had a vague kind of idea that the numbers were idicating viscosity but didnt really know what that meant the mobil site recommended Mobil 1 5W-50 for an RB30 (they didn't have RB25) and that sounds about right from what you and others have said. i'll look into the motul because a lot of people seem to be using it. me being a tightarse, it will probably come down to price when deciding between mobil1 and motul. anyway thanks for your help. cheers greg
  18. back from the dead... so we've established that a fully synthetic oil should be used, but what weight/thickness should be used? i believe it should be heavier/thicker than the oil in a RB25DET, which people on this forum generally agree should be 5w40, but i can't find any info on the RB25DE. i've just done my first 5000kms so i need to change pretty soon. has anyone got a workshop manual that states what oil nissan recommends? Cheers, Greg
  19. no not yet, did u make sure you put 2 underscores in the address? people usually get that wrong. thanks
