  2. has anyone fitted a s-afc or similar air/fuel controller to their N/A skyline? if so what kind of power/torque gains did you get? thanks greg
  3. hi all, I'm about to do my first oil change since compliance and since i don't have an owner's manual i was wondering if someone out there would be kind enough to post up what type of oil i should be using (ie weight etc). Is it the same as the RB25DET? Thanks, Greg
  4. oh ok, i just assumed thevp wiehged as much as the new commodores!
  5. YES! although i can't lauch for crap, my best 0-100 is about 9 seconds
  6. "Has anyone with a standard non turbs skyline dragged a VP commodore? " the RB25DE has simiolar power to the holden 3.8 litre 6 but the skyline weighs about 200kgs less, so i would expect you to win GtSkylinePeTe, i have a r33 gts for my first car and i'm very happy with it. obviously the newer it is the better, but i don;t know of any problems with specific years. i imported mine myself and by the time it was on the road it had cost me a bit under $15000 but you could probably pick them up cheaper than this.
  7. lol martin donnon is on these forums i wonder if he will reply...
  8. yeah i use 35 as well, but i checked on my tyres today and they recommended 40psi! isn't that a bit high?
  9. put me down as definate for formula 1 tint thanks
  10. bargain!
  11. awesome man if you ever take it to the drags be sure to post up times because it would be interesting to see the difference between the r32 with its lighter weight compared to the r33 with the same engine. I expect to see you posting in the NA forums now cheers mate enjoy your car
  12. hey, i am definitely interested, depending on the time/date because camberwell is a fair drive from my place! i've been meaning to get my tinting re-done ever since i got my car because it came from japan with bubbles and creases so it looks like my windows are cracked! anyway thanks for the hook up dj_l3thal i'll finally get to meet some fellow skyline nutters... cheers greg
  13. ditto
  14. i saw a r31 / pintara looking sedan while cruising the other day which had a turbo sticker on the back. i immediatly thought that it was just a sticker and that the driver was a wanker, but then i pulled up next to it and noticed that it had a old red GT badge and then i had second thoughts... maybe it was really turbo? anyone know if they sold turbo r31s here? greg
  15. for me it was a combo of insurance, restrictive parents and lack of experience with powerful cars.
  16. I voted sky high for the convenience factor (I pretty much live next it) Although there is nothing to do at sky high itself since the restaurant closed except enjoy the view, we could go to a cafe in the mount dandenong township, there are heaps of them around. The twisties are great and the roads are deserted in most parts so you can do whatever speed you want (almost). I was doing 155 the other day, for example. Either way if people do want to cruise to mount dandenong I am happy to help out planning the root. Cheers Greg
  17. i'm interested in the wheels if you decide to wreck it
  18. Woah that would suck! I don't get it though, why would not having full comp make a car more desirable to steal? It is because if you have full comp and your car is stolen the insurance company looks into it and tries to recover the vehicle? Yeah i looked into it when i was organising my insurance, it was about $300 more than just third party property which was $355. However, it only covers theft up to 4 or 5 thousand, so full comp is really the only way to go if you want to be covered against theft. nah that is for full comp ($4700). who are you insured with kamikaze? Regards, Greg
  19. My opinion: I think the main benefit of such an 'import club' is that it would be a national club with heaps of members and it might actually carry some weight in lobbying the Government on changes in legislation (eg import laws). Also club discounts at workshops, on insurance etc would be more easily attainable. It would have to be a respected authority on imports and run professionally (maybe even cost a small fee per year to join, or a once off joining fee to cover costs). If benefits such as having a national body looking after import owners, receiving club discounts on insurance and at workshops (and of course getting a bumper sticker;)) were involved, I'd be in it for sure!
  20. thanks ken that helps a lot the car they came off (silvia) needed a wheel alignment really badly and as a result the tyres a worn very unevenly, this is most liekly my problem. thanks again. cheers greg
  21. there are 3 screws along the bottom, 1 below the hand rest/window button thing and 1 in the little holder thingo. you need to remove a little plastic cover thing to get to each of the last two screws that i mentioned. if you hvae removed all 5 screws, it might just be the clips holding it in place, in which case lever it off with force (try using a screwdriver). sorry about the dodgy instructions!
  22. I recently put new rims on my car and the offset is 32mm whereas it should be 38-40mm. I did notice a difference in the handling but this might simply be due to the worn out tyres on the new rims. So does the incorrect wheel offset affect handling or is it just my tyres? thanks.
  23. I bought a pod filter from perfect run. Initially they sent me the wrong one so they paid for the postage back to them and then 5 days later the proper one arrived. They're very professional. I would deal with them again.
