Best Toe/camber/castor Setting For Track

Can of worms can of worms!!!!!!!!!! LOL. Seriously though I've owned a fair few Hondas including the DC2R as well as the DC5R. I hated the understeer on the street as well as on the track. I've had a lot of Honda guys tell me that I wasn't driving it right though. I agree as my lap times were crap in comparisson to some of theirs. -
Carbon Driveshaft!!! Looks like a f**ker to drive too. I was there during the photoshoot of it for Autosalon Magazine and I won't name them.. but the 2 very skilled drivers who were driving it around for the shoot both stalled the car.

Totally agree that much of what Australia produces is better than the rest of the world. I've been fighting to prove that Australian Designers are of international standard since 1999 with my career life's work at Australian INfront. An Australian online design community (www.australianinfront.com.au). But we are talking about Whiteline here and also more specifically the thought that all Japanese suspension is crap, or, too hard for "Australian conditions". The GT-R is a legendary car (you would be nuts to say it's not innovative or original). I've said it before. There's a lot in a badge... the GT-R badge that is. It's legendary for all the right reasons. It's the ultimate Japanese muscle car. I love it. Japan created it and I respect the Japanese designers/creators so much when I see it in my garage every day. Each to their own. Japanese car culture rocks out. It's my buzz. Cool if yours is Australian cars, Fords and Holdens. Damn I'm into them too but not as much as I'm into my Japanese performance cars and parts. Peace out (lol!). -
Graphic Designers here. Mostly web design as well as logo design. My portfolio is here: http://www.gillespiefox.com Will work mates rates for anything car related as I love cars!!!

Read between the lines guys. The Swift, or any small car (don'y you see how hardcore some Hyundai Excels are in traffic?!) is a weapon in traffic because: A) they have good vision, big windows less blind spots. B) they're small so good for weaving in and out C) they don't care so much for their cars giving them a mental advatage, hit a gutter? big deal The guy in the Lambo was a scaredy cat. SO SCARED that he left his car at the police station and organised one of his work people to pick it up for him LOL LOL LOL!!! He was scared of the swift. If he knew how to drive the thing he'd be long gone, even in traffic, if he wanted to.

Best Toe/camber/castor Setting For Track

Again, another sweeping statement. SURELY NOT ALL Japanese springs are stiff?! Are you saying that the Japanese don't make soft springs at all? What kg were the springs you had? As I've mentioned before my Tein Super Street coilovers came with 6kg and 4kg springs and they were too soft for my liking so I replaced the springs in the coilovers with shorter and harder springs from Swift (also Japanese) and the ride's much firmer now which suits what I was after. -

All good discussions for sure. As mentioned before, Wotjekt (spelling?) from Whiteline, the designer of whiteline packages apparenty, test drove my R32 GT-R with the whiteline works kit installed and said with a wry grin on his face that it was correct, normal, the way it's meant to be. I couldn't fight that anymore, couldn't get a refund.... so just took it on the chin. It was crashy on the street and too soft on the track. My new TEIN RA set-up is also very bumpy on the street but not crashy at all. I have yet to take it to the track. GTRGeoff, my set-up now is whiteline sways and Tein RA's on the middle hardness setting, not adjusted as I've yet to take them on track, rate my opinions as well as get the opinion of the Burrows Day instructors on my new set-up. I've also decided to leave the camber/castor adjustment until after the next track day I do in the GT-R (new engine is not yet dyno tuned). As far as my "driving style" goes. I've only been tracking for the past year and I'm getting faster each time I go out there but I've got so much more to learn which is exactly what is keeping it all exciting for me right now. I do know however that my GT-R is now one hell of a lot more comfortable to drive on the streets than it was before with my Whiteline set-up and as mentioned before... it wasn't just me who thought the ride was crashy as hell, it was many other people who've been a passenger in my car, some of these people were talented drivers, some were just passengers who thought the ride was ridiculously hard! I'm not one to say that this suspension is better than that if I have not yet tried it myself. Same with any other product for that matter... but I have tried the whiteline works package for the R32 GT-R and I have also tried the stock set-up as well as the Tein RA's and I can say, from experience, that the stock was softest and most comfortable for the street, the whiteline was crashy on the street and a little soft on the track (I had body roll) and so far, after alsmot 3k of driving on the streets bedding my new engine in the Tein RA are much stiffer than stock, and sure, bumpy on Parramatta road but not at all crashy. PPS: I am a JDM fan. I love Japanese cars and Japanese performance products. I've yet to encounter dissapointment from brands such as Mugen, Toda, Tein, HKS, Cusco. Perhaps I am biased towards all things Japanese, and surely less experienced than SK in terms of suspension but there's no way I could ever take a sweeping statement like "All Jap suspension is crap" seriously no matter how experienced the person that said it was. Same goes for the opinions of MOTOR Magazine staff when they rip into a particular car (I know I've definitely disagreed with some of the opinions they've had), or the opinions of Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear, all of them just opinions to me in the end of the day and based on their experiences, and not my own so I know nothing much until I try it for myself. -
OK, after doing a shitload of research it turns out there are 2 different types of "Square" headlights. As funkymonkey mentioned... one which has the larger square going behind the smaller square and one which clearly doesn't. Now, the thing is, the one which Shan thought was the N1 is not the N1, actually it's found on the GTS-S! There are plenty of the both up on Yahoo Auctions right now. Some are calling N1, some aren't. And so, it brings us all the way round to square 1 again. It's looking a lot like this: THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE!!! Just the clips above which allows you to bolt up GTS square non projector lights to a GT-R and keep your grill.

In Sydney, have a 1993 R32 GT-R wheel for sale on eBay right now. It's got one tiny little imperfection on the left side of the wheel (between your thumb and index). Some tiny little marks but otherwise it's in great condition. It will not fit anything but an R32 GT-R (please re-read that or find out for yourself before asking me if it fits your GT-S). Car had done 80,000kms when the wheel was taken off. Happy bidding!!! Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Nissan-Skyline-R32-...1QQcmdZViewItem

R32 Aftermarket Head Unit Sitting Flush
justinfox replied to R32skyline93's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
I have just installed a Kenwood unti where the face tilts/slides out. The unti is on the bottom, my Defi din guges in the middle and the climate control up the top (R32 GT-R). The Defi Din Guages stick out a lot and have an even gap all the way around. The Kenwood also sticks out a little and has an even gap all around too. The face plate I got with the Kenwood is huge to accomodate the sliding mechanism/face. There's no way of modifying it to fit. It all just looks damn ugly. Shame really. No idea what to do?! -
The forum's working faster for me now. But the banner I designed up the top of the page isn't sitting right there anymore due to the background behind it. I'll have to have a word with Prank about it to see what we can do to make it set a little better up there.

Skyline Big Brake Kits Pictured

$10k + If any car needs better brakes it's a GT-R. Especially the R32 GT-R. I've upgraded the fronts to R33 GT-R Brembos and they're better... but still not great. Question then. Simple one too. Would it be AOK if I was to just upgrade to 6-pot front brakes and leave the stock R32 GT-R brakes on the rear? I know this would be un-balanced but how bad would it be? Worse than just living with the Brembos I have on the car now? Or still... better? -
Novak have you got pics of these on cars at all? I can't tell much from looking at the picture you've attached.

Best Toe/camber/castor Setting For Track
justinfox replied to justinfox's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
PS: randominsanity73 It's primarily for track work although I do drive it on the street a fair bit. I used to drive it on the street a lot on it's stock suspension but after installing the Whiteline Works kit I couldn't drive it on the street at all, especially with a passenger (or 3) as it was so damn embarassing how crashy and jarring the ride was. I've had many people tell me the springs and shocks were mismatched and that there possibly wasn't enough rebound. Since installing the Tein RA and adjusting the dampers (a simple twist of a nipple!) to half hardness I've been driving the car daily. I'm loving it all over again. Looking forward to hitting the tracks with the Teain RA. Should be superior to the Whiteline Works package I had on before (I still have the Whiteline swaybars on the car but will be replacing them with Cusco items soon too). -

QUOTE SydneyKid: "Ohlins, Proflex, Drummond or Bilstein. None of those are made in Japan." Sorry but some of those brands are made in Japan. I have proof if you would like for Ohlins and Bilsteins MADE IN JAPAN. Maybe not the ones in the Aus cars, sure, but they do make Ohlins in Japan. I think it's arguable to talk about suspension being designed for certain countries conditions (ie: A bit silly really). I mean, surely all countries have bad roads!!!!!!!! It's not like Jap coilovers are designed for super smooth roads... and actually... it's not like coilovers are designed for street driving in general... if you complain about bumps then leave it stock! And as I mentioned earlier... with the Tein Super Streets (cheapest coilovers they make and designed for street use) you can adjust height and damper settings and make it SOFTER than your stock set-up or a hell of a lot HARDER too in the matter of minutes on your own. IE: They are more adjustable than a set of springs and shocks which to me are much more of a set and forget set-up, or in my case with the Whiteline package... install it and if you dont like it then too bad!!! The Ohlins stuff that Japanese GT-R race cars use is Japanese. Ohlins is a Euro company sure but the stuff the Japenese put on is different to the stuff we get here. YES you read that right. It is Japanese designed, Jap spec from Ohlins JAPAN. Same with Bilstein... not that yellow Bilstein stuff you get here... but the Japanese Bilsteins (chrome shaft, much better quality etc). :) In any case. I know for sure the Whiteline Works package was a hardcore crashy ride on streets in comparisson to my Tein RA or TODA fightex or Tein Super Streets as I lived with the Whiteline for a year and driving the Teins for the last 3000kms has been a dream. The end of the day. In my opinion, a set-up that allows you to drastically adjust the setting of height and damper to your liking is superior to a spring and shock set-up which is set to someone elses liking. -

Thanks SK. I'm avoiding Whiteline because I bought the full Whiteline suspension package (the works package) for my R32 GT-R and found the ride ridiculously hard for street driving. Also Powerplay Imports complained about how hard the damn kit was to fit, apparently nothing fit that well at all. The ride was so hard in fact that I bounced off bumps and once and almost landed in the gutter!!! The ride was so damn harsh and the ride was crashing so hard I took it back to Whiteline and the head technical guy there (forgot his name, strange name, drives a Honda EK Civic) took it for a drive and said it was exactly how it's meant to be!!! I said I was taking them to court as this was in no way street drivable and then they started pointing the finger at me and saying that I musn't know what sports suspension is meant to feel like. They clearly say it's legal and designed for Australian conditions. Anyway, it didn't threaten them at all and so I just ripped off the whole lot and installed some Tein RA coilovers and damn they're so good... comfortable for street and designed for track work. My MX-5 Clubman also came stock with Bilstein suspension in it and the ride was so damn crashy it was ridiculous so I replaced it with Tein Super Street coilover which were too soft for me so I replaced the springs with Swift springs of a higher rate. To say that Japanese coilovers are harder than Whiteline kits is ridiculous full stop. I have had Japanese coilovers on a few cars now. Including TODA Fightex on my DC2R and they're so good on street and track. Full adjustable height and damper is the way to go in my opinion. It's adjustable! If it's too soft, go harder, if it's too hard, go softer! The option is there to tune away to your hearts content. With the Whiteline I couldn't adjust the height easily (notches, sure but it's a massive job in comparisson to just using a wrench to adjust the height). I couldn't adjust rebound or damper settings either so I was stuck with a set-up I didn't like. IE: It wasn't tuned to what I like. Also, on track I found the Whiteline set-up soft!!! Very forgiving, yes, but with semis on I found a hell of a lot of body roll. So, not great for street, or track?! I won't be buying whiteline products again. My car's Japanese, it's a GT-R and deserves quality products. Will let everyone know what I get in any case. -

Cheers guys. Trying to avoid Whiteline and go all JDM (always better in my opinion). Cusco have camber kits: 5mm/10mm/20mm whatever that means. Too confusing so I'm going with Section. Will let everyone know what products I get in the end.
