  1. Webz by 7 thousandths of a second! Daylight b****hes!
  2. Lol'd at Schumacher's comment that his collision with Petrov was "mostly" his fault. Like cutting himself shaving or tripping over his own feet would be "mostly" his fault. I think he's "mostly" taking up a seat that someone should "mostly" have
  3. Too much time, someone has (not you). I don't think we should judge DRS on what happened at the sphincter of the universe. I'm not sure if you'd say they got it wrong because I'm not sure what the alternative was (DRS on the front straight instead, perhaps?), but the back straight just gave too much advantage to the passing car. At the end of the day, though, I'd rather see easy, even bogus, overtakes than none at all, because then the faster driver has a fighting chance at using his car's speed. I admit that DRS + KERS does make F1 a bit Mario Kart, though. That's not going to change unless the FIA can figure out how to make the cars less aero-efficient and -dependent. They've tried, but they haven't quite managed it yet. More grip than power = boring racing. More power than grip = awesome racing. So what's the solution? MOAR POWAH!
  4. True, I thought Webber's pass on Rosberg was just car speed, but it's not just him. Another classy move from Schumacher. It takes true skill to fail that hard. When you hit the guy's *rear* wheel, you have to ask yourself if there was any point trying to defend. Absolute ROFL at the commentators. "Do you think Schumacher's problem is he doesn't know when to give up?" "What, on his career?"
  5. Just read something in an article about an Aston Martin DB6. Apparently some bloke called Peter Robinson is building a motorsport resort, including a full GP circuit, out at Bacchus Marsh. Anyone know more, or is it just crap?
  6. It was realising that that made me ease up on Schumacher a bit ... I still don't love the guy but like Senna, there's no denying his talent, back in the day at least. The other thing they had in common besides talent was total ruthlessness. Senna DID drive Prost off the road at Turn 1 in Suzuka, he admitted as much. Both Schumacher and Senna would do anything to win, whether or not it was legal. Senna is still the better driver IMHO, he just didn't win as many races because he had better opponents.
  7. It figures that Americans would have to get a foreigner to design a track with right-hand turns. And that they'd be ignorant enough to pick Tilke.
  8. They could put wings on an RS500, would do alright.
  9. I'll be there with bells on.
  10. It's gonna be off da hook brah!
  11. Most jap spec radios won't work there, but you can hire one for a couple of bucks IIRC
  12. Eau Rouge FYI. That was always my first concern when I heard about the moveable rear wing. We've had FIXED rear wings fail before (remember Raikkonen?), and adding moveable parts into the equation can't help the chances of a wing failure. Mind you, IMO if you're going to have it at all, it should be at the driver's discretion. I hate this idea that it can only be used in a certain section of the track.
  13. I was praying so hard that they'd collide I was almost ready to resort to voodoo sacrifice. Vettel and Hamilton DNF = Webber win. How awesome would that have been!
  14. Sweet pic mate
  15. It's exactly what the FIA wanted them to do, and it's worked brilliantly. Guys closing down the leaders at 2-3 secs a lap is what we want to see. So much better than follow-the-leader/pit stop/follow-the-leader.
  16. Waiter, I'd like a large dish of humble pie, please ... Forget what I said about Webz not having his head together. RBR might need to think about how long it takes to warm up hard tyres in quali, but there's nothing wrong with the way Mark's driving. To get with 3 secs of Vettel at the end, closing fast, and only 7 secs behind the winner ... fantastic effort. It will be interesting to see if this affects the way teams approach qualifying, since Webber having three sets of brand-new softs surely helped him, but bear in mind that that would have only helped him for the first couple of laps. After that he was in the same boat as everyone else ... he just rowed it better.
  17. I'm mystified. The simple fact is an RB7 should be able to get into q2 on 7 cylinders, never mind hard tyres. And mark's a better driver than that ... at least, I've always thought he was. He's still the same guy that came close to winning the title last year, but I have to ask if his head's right. I wrote off Australia as a one-off, in Malaysia he was screwed by the KERS failure, but I can't think of any reason for this qualifying performance except him being out of the game mentally. He can fix it but he needs to take a good jar look at himself, I think
  18. 100% in now, I got out of working
  19. Mark "wins" FP2 as well, although not by much
  20. From formula1.com. 1.6 sec is HUGE - yes it's only FP1, but I doubt hamilton was just cruising around, and RBR aren't the sort of team to fake a "Hollywood number".
  21. Anyone going to the GTCC club movie night the next night? I was going to do both but unless the movie is biblically awesome (which, let's face it, isn't likely), I won't go to GTCC
  22. Not going to enter as I'm not worthy, but should show up for a looksee. "Most likely to be pulled over"? Not sure I'd want THAT poisoned chalice
  23. In the news today ... article It mentions that a proposal is being put together for a track at Avalon. Does anyone know more? It's been talked about for some time, but I'm keen to know if it has legs this time. It also talks about Ecclestone meeting with a guy in New York to talk about a race around Staten Island. Are they mad? They're already building a permanent track in Texas for the US GP. Last time they tried two US GPs it didn't work too well...
