  1. Meanwhile, in Bathurst ... No limit on Lowndes' F1 lap He says he's not going to try for a lap record, but how hard would it be in an F1 car? Seriously, wouldn't you?
  2. I could do with some more rwkw. And some more fwkw. Hell, more wkw for all! Seriously though, great day, will be there for the next one.
  3. When you're looking at a car head-on it's easy to mis-judge their speed. The driver who was killed has the right to assume the oncoming drivers are doing the speed limit, not 60km/h+ over. He would have based his decision to turn on that. Seriously, you don't drag race in populated areas, especially at that time of the day. I don't claim to be an angel on the roads but if I do anything I'm not supposed to, I do it somewhere it's not going to put anyone else at risk. Referring to the related issue, legal drag racing is a great way to answer the question every modified driver asks: "How fast will it go?" There'll always be the idiots who do stupid stuff in the worst possible place, even if you have drag strips in every suburb, but if there's regular off-street meets it will take away a lot of the motivation to drag on the street. We need Calder, we need Heathcote, and we need them regularly. Keep it off the street!
  4. Look forward to it whatever happens
  5. I'm in, who else is running?
  6. Just read this article about Bernie and the AGP. It sounds like he's sympathetic, but you know Bernie, he's a hard bastard. Would YOU cancel Spa? Not me. I don't understand Mr. Mayor. Can't he see that the wider economic benefits far outweigh the outlay for the race? Can you imagine the outcry from the hotels, shops and businesses that are flat-out during GP week? The race has its costs but surely, surely it's worth it. I like the bit where Bernie says, "Melbourne is as important as Monaco", though. He'd hardly drop Monaco.
  7. If there are still spots available I may take one, pending budget approval. Either way I should come down for a look-see.
  8. Will probably show up for a look-see but GTCC is running a dyno day a couple of weeks before and its a 4WD dyno, so I may do my run with them. Of course, if they've run out of spots I'll be *forced* to run the SAU day ...
  9. Bad as the Bahrain thing sounds to us I'm not convinced it will affect the race. It's still a few weeks away and these things can blow over quickly. Bahrain isn't Egypt, I don't think this will drag on for that long.
  10. You do realise this is the skylines forum? I'm not sure you're right in that assessment ... I personally would go R35 over a Beemer any day of the week. Not that I'd be disappointed with an M3, but if I could choose either...
  11. Read an article in Zoom magazine that mentioned BMW officials admitting discussions with Mark Skaife regarding joining the series. So no internet linky (sorry) but IMO it's a bit more solid than the usual "someone at Nissan said something about thinking about maybe joining the V8s". However, as someone else said, suspending oneself from one's appendage while waiting for this to come to pass would be unwise.
  12. Apparently BMW have had talks about joining the V8SC. Normally I'm dubious about this as it's usually media speculation, but it seems like they may be serious this time. Firstly, do you agree, and secondly, do you like the idea? Personally I like it, more diversity is a good thing. Foreign manufacturers will improve competition and thus racing, hopefully.
  13. It's ok, my car's so fast I can pass him in a sec ... oh, crap.
  14. Welcome to the forums. How sweet were those R35s ... so nice to hear them let rip. Kinda felt sorry for the drivers having a bunch of fanboys descend on them from the moment they showed up, but sorry guys, it goes with the territory. If you want a ride in my R32 GTR you're welcome any time. It's pretty stock but hey, that's plenty to have fun with.
  15. SKY32 and another R32 gtst at my servo on Sunday. Good chatting to you guys.
  16. 2 R35s at Apple Peal car wash on Friday night ... made our night. So gorgeous, and listening to them at full noise was a treat.
  17. On another note, anyone else remember why moveable wings were banned in the first place? Something to do with them breaking at speed ... I know that was nearly 40 years ago now but there was that incident with Kimi Raikkonen a few years back at Hochenheim ... scary. And that was a fixed wing.
  18. I'm pretty sure all this talk about Melbourne losing the GP is a storm in a teacup. I doubt Bernie wants to lose a popular event, just like when he threatened to pull the British GP. It was never going to happen. Bernie is a master negotiator and he knows how to put pressure on event hosts. Robert Doyle just handed him a big stick (thanks for that!), but at the end of the day it's not the mayor's decision. Australia has had a GP for 25 years now and it's not going away, especially with Marky-mark up front and Ricciardo coming up through the ranks. The powers-that-be will do almost anything to keep it.
  19. Saw SKYGTT, JDR33M and the TEKKEN RX-7 in prahran yesterday. Awesome convoy of win!
  20. I'm a definite maybe ... we'll see closer to the time
  21. Could be up for this, we'll see
  22. Grey r32 GTR on scoresby rd tonight. Looked a lot like mine ... I was of course in the other grey r32 GTR
  23. Wow, I thought I was bad. I get about 17-18L/100 km, which could be due to it running rich, but for the sake of the engine it might need to stay that way
  24. If I'm lucky I'll have my car back by then ... I'm up for whatever.
  25. Wow. That's an impressive level of negativity. The RBRs have in fact shown extremely good reliability and Mark has proven he has the smarts to race hard without breaking his car. Yes, I know there was Valencia, but his rivals have also tripped over themselves. The difference is that Mark has been more consistent. Mark is 14 points in front of Vetool and Alonso. What this means is that if Mark can finish second in two races, one of his rivals must win two races and score one point more than Mark in another. If Mark can win even one of the final three, he will almost have to DNF in one of the others to lose, as this will give him a 21 point lead, no matter where his rivals finish. To put it another way, if Mark wins in Korea, or either of the other two, he only needs two third places to win. I can cut it all sorts of ways, but the truth is Mark Webber is in a very strong position. If he finishes on the podium in all three races, he will be nearly unbeatable. Of course, a DNF changes everything, but for once Mark seems to have luck on his side.
