Shattered I wasted money on one... Wow it Seems to be an urban myth that people have taken to heart... I've read tweak guides that promise 10-15 kw boosts and both my uncles that race cars were talking what a difference they make. Unless being out in the wind under real conditions can somehow make a difference to the test; i would say that myth video makes 90% of us with modified cars idiots. At least; it was good to know the stock box does not restrict in any way. Perhaps those asians in white coats that designed the things sort of knew what they were doing?

What Clutch To Get In 34 Gtr?
Little replied to w34ponGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hey W34pon; i was facing the same situation as you albeit in a cheaper car; I'd suggest to you that your first instinct is probably right dude; it's gonna be the synchros unfortunately. It can happen over time (mine gave out around 120,000km) but you can wreck a specific gears synchros by forcing it in when you don't have the gear shifter perfectly aligned... ...Which is easy to do when you are in a high stress situation; such as hammering down a drag strip... or chasing down some evo. It just doesn't make sense to me that fourth (not a paricularly difficult gear) would be the only one you were having issues with but the others are fine. When you said "notchy" that set my alarm bells ringing.. i remember very clearly that i used to be able to shift as easy as you would in an astra or a little corolla; and then it gradually changed to notchiness and being "locked out"... the car changes gears when it is ready; not you; and its completely random when it happens. I am currently having my gearbox reconditioned at a jap specialist in ringwood... i guess if it comes out to a good standard i'll give a breakdown if you're interested. -
34's seem to make a ridiculous amount of noise with pods on anyway, mine howled at 40km/h when i had one on; ultimately i swapped it back. I've noticed that people that are dead serious about getting more air do use a pod; but they extend the hose and bring it right round to the front of the car infront of the radiator. I'd consider doing this; but i'm not sure it's possible without drilling big holes near your headlight and can't find anything relating to us anyway. I would wonder about effect of the filter getting wet out the front too.

Actually... Just pondering. Is it possible these problems are caused by his flywheel? Did you have it machined mate? Just read a bunch of posts that clutch slipping can be flywheel related.

R34 Gtt Twin Plate Upgrade Help
Little replied to 4R33L's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hey R33L, I can relate very muchly to overenginnering everything you put into the car. The confidence whilst driving that the machine is strong and nothing you are going to do will hurt it; makes me very happy. I achieved this just by putting in an exedy heavy duty and the flywheel that went with it... It feels stronger than anything else in the car. Then again i'm not making 270 But if this part has come out of a 33gtr it could be more than a decade old... And You've got more issues to worry about upcoming than just the clutch too. By the time you've done 130,000 like My car has you'll have your synchros in the gearbox starting to wear out too. Mines having a recondition now. Pain in the arse. -
Shes beautiful mate. I can see why someone would want. Best of luck. This is definately something worth raging about! Insured for theft? I have had several security guys tell me you are never going to stop somebody that sincerely wants your car; all you can do is slow them down with immobilisers etc and suprisingly the cheap wheel locks are a massive deterrant

Is Gps Tracking Devices Allowed To Be Installed In Your Car?
Little replied to fumoffu's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
In Victoria? Speak to Chuck at Carzon car audio in Dandenong; he knows what he's doing. 9791 4301 generally a mobile Sim card is the cost efficient way to go. You'd want to go with the carrier that has the most coverage though; ie; telstra. -
Heya.. Just wanted to contribute. Also noticing that LPG has jumped astronomically as well. I think a couple of years back there was a tax break on it and now its been repealled? Basically what this means is there isn't really an alternative other than to be a bastard planet killing petrol head .. Diesel gas petrol all on the upclimb forever; and there is no other option yet. Unless you have a hybrid; which still uses petrol and charges up from coal power. I have always thought; the solution to a lot of these things is technology. Thats what has happened throughout history; people typically don't change their ways; hold hands and save the environment.. It comes down to a new piece of tech dreamed up by some genius greengrocer in his work shop in his spare time; that makes things commercially available cheap. unfortunately; a lot of the older guys I've asked about them say that there were and are a lot of ideas; and even prototypes developed of alternative combustion engines; but what happens is an oil company gets involved and things go quiet. I can't think of any examples though; can someone help me out?

What Brake Calipers Are On 34's?
Little replied to Little's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Love the sarcasm/cynasism lol Well the guy i've been talking to is quite knowledgeable about this sort of thing; i'm obviously not. And there's actually a very good report on these very forums with these QFM Brake pads for street use When you look at it from his point of view; I know there are many weird upgrades for certain models- Some of the skylines have Brembo brake calipers !!?? The numbers he gave me were showed he thinks they are either DB1170 or DB1220 I've checked my R34 manual; as usual it is completely useless except for showing how to top up the washer fluids. -
Hey; After two years it's time to replace the brake pads; I've been in contact with Queensland friction materials they just want to know what type of calipers i have; to which i replied I think they are standard Sumitomo's; to which they replied Yeah but what type? No frackin idea. Here's a picture.

Saw a White 34 GTR on the princes hwy at 3pm yesterday. Done up with race numbers; not sure where he had been but it was fun to tag along with that machine for a bit. He gave it a bit of a rev in the tunnel; the echo that came back was more than a lil' intimidating. There's also this nice silver 34 Series 2 i keep seeing on Bourke rd in Oakleigh south. It just appeared one day; must have been a recent buy. I don't see many other series II's; its nice.

Spent 20 minutes on the phone with Scott from speeding fine consultants. As with anything; it is going to require a lot of effort but if we put in; Scott says he hasn't lost a hand laser case in four years. The fee is $478 for the entire case; so if it were a normal fine for one person it wouldn't be financially viable. But since there are three of us in this case its a good deal. I don't want those points anyway. my mate on the ktm has decided to pay his fine; since he was caught fair and sqaure and he cbf'ed making the effort; but the rest of us will meet up on the weekend and get our case together. We have to discuss what was said and take photos of where it all happened; etc...

Harsh; especially about the placard What landed you into being pulled over and given the full treatment? Maybe just the exhaust?
-
sure have buddy. Which is why i acknowledged him for his 50c and looked up the stat decs.Although after looking at another post it is possible there have been two in here. cool!
-
Hahaha! See it's much easier for everyone involved if you shut up and pay the fine; and thats whats wrong here. Whats weird is that 99% of people i talk to think the system is flawed; yet these laws couldn't be in place if the majority of people didn't support them. So I wonder what comprises the majority and where they are right now? doing 50 in the right line over the westgate maybe? On the phone to 3aw? Riding their push bikes taking up all of beach road? anyway....I thought we had some officers on here. Was kind of hoping one might drop his 2c. or 50c in this case. I've found some statutory declarations on the justice website; but who would we send them to? This traffic camera office place on the back of the fine? I'm going to make a phone call tomorrow; theres a bloke who's emailed me about this and he thinks this can easily be dismissed- for a price. Anyway. Will update later.

Thanks for the facts. Nismoid I have read that you have experience with this kind of shite; with the policy of clogging up their stupid system as much as possible. I like it; but once again how much money do i blatantly have to waste over a $230 fine? Now that i have the infringement notice in my hands; can i still allege that i was doing a lower speed? (although there is no proof of me doing so and i wasn't) Its the points i'm worried about; i only get five of em on the learners. So in honesty it looks like we are just going to pay up and shut up because fighting it legally is too expensive.. Arrrrrrgh! But everybody does that! And thats the reason why we have this money laundering bullshit; they get away with it; because the majority don't stand up for themselves. And if you do; you end up paying three thousand bucks like Jack.. So it sounds like you lost even with a lawyer! Were you a smart arse to the cop or something??? Ahh well. I had this silly idea that a police man had to be able to prove your speed with an actual measuring device. Damnit. This shouldn't come as too much of a suprise. After all.... Vicpol are famous for being fair and understanding; right?

Happy new year to you all. Full story; On new years eve myself and three friends took our motorbikes up to Apollo bay to stay a night for the new year. We rode down to Sorrento and caught the Ferry across to Queenscliff. This happened pretty much as soon as we got off the ferry at queenscliff. So there are four bikes; a 1190cc KTM, a 600cc GSXR and myself and a friend on our CBR250 buzzboxes. I'm at the back of the convoy and we're spaced out a lot. Its 8.30am on new years eve We've just Turned left at a roundabout onto a curved narrow country road, the guy on the 1190 tore off a bit but the rest of us are just accelerating normally, So i become aware of a police paddy wagon suddenly appearing on my right shoulder; no lights or siren but its only a couple of meters from me. Was i going ridiculously fast at this point? No. Either way i shit myself and pulled over to the left but he tore around me on the wrong side of the road and past the other two going after my mate on the 1190. obviously he caught up and pulled him over. Like a f**king idiot i did the right thing and pulled over with him (we all did) in case they wanted to ask us any questions. (two cops in the car) They wrote him out his fine on the spot and booked him for 23 km/h over the limit. It was one of those 60 zones where they've dropped it down to 50; not sure why. Maybe an accident prone area or maybe the cows were complaining about noise pollution. anyway they ran our everything's for all four of us and i got a stern warning for not having an L plate up. (I think it tore off in high winds on the frankston freeway; it was on when i left my house hours before.) amazingly he belived me and said he wouldn't be fining me for that. Thats the point where he said the reason he has pulled me over is for speeding and he has me clocked at 23km/h over the speed limit... and he then says the same thing to the others; so he's done all of us. I have never been fined before; generally I'm pretty well behaved on the roads and i have no skill with these kind of situations whatsoever. I have memorised a webpage about do's and don'ts when you are pulled over so i was trying my best to follow that The problem was he had me by the balls because of the stupid L plate (and my own stupidity for not securing it well enough i admit) so i felt if i aggravated him he'd fine me for that as well. So all i said was "I don't believe i was speeding officer" and as a text book response he quipped the "what speed were you doing?" at which point i kind of shrugged and looked at the ground (like a real hero) because i wasn't sure. Going around a corner on a bike means you need to concentrate on the bend so The Truth be told i do not know exactly what speed i was doing at that exact instant but it was sure as hell noway near 70km/h; that i swear on. Same goes for my other friend on the 250 and the other on the 600. the other guys chose to remain quiet and didn't comment about what speed they were doing. They then actually did the whole "you'll recieve your fines in the mail" and "slow down" thing and then left; so they didn't give the three of us a fine on the spot. So we were kind of umming and ahhing about wether they would actually send them or if it was a scare tactic. They turned up in the mail yesterday for all of us unfortunately; and they're all for 23km/h over the limit. We think this is bullshit. we don't think you can simultaneously speed gun 4 motorbikes and get them all at the exact same speed; because we wouldn't have been going the same speed; furthermore he didn't even put his sirens on for us; it was for the bloke in front, they just booked as as an after thought. Regardless: I was not going that fast; and neither was the other 250. because they can't. They're slow. I'm not sure who i am supposed to talk to. Obviously for a 230 dollar fine its not worth getting a lawyer for, i'm not to fussed about that. but the points are an issue since i have only 5 on the learners. There goes the never fined record too. Gah.

f**king sexy Light silver R34 parked out the front of Xavier College on st road at 4.30 today. Somebody polishes their car...
-
Haha; Yeah man. I think i see what you're asking. If you tested the car side constant for voltage while it were disconnected from the head unit and stripped in your hand; it would read 12 volt. If you tested it whilst it was soldered and joined to the head unit by placing your multimeter on the solder join it would still read 12 volt. Think of it like measuring water pressure in a pipe. There's 12 volts of pressure in that cable and until it touches something that opens the flow the pressure will stay there stored up. You've confused me with what you said up top... the constant and switched do both relate to the battery... Edit Ooops: Yeah you definately need to tape up your solder joins. For the exact reason you stated.
-
Can't believe nobody else has replied... I just realised I'm retarded. The head unit needs both of the power wires to work properly. It needs the constant active and it needs the switched active that is turned off when you pull out they key. In honesty there is no way I can identify the wires from their colors because in different models they're likely all different Lets just ignore the rest of the wires and focus on finding the relevant ones. I think what has happened is; you have got the switched active in the correct place; so we can leave that alone; because your sound system fires up when you turn the key; and turns off when you pull the key out right? It just forgets all your settings. And if the cables left over are illumination & phone mute then the only explanation is that you have already Joined the constant active to your head unit; but to the wrong place. Like you've asked all you need to do is find the constant active on the car side and join it to the right cable coming out of the head. If you've soldered the joins you should be able to just stick your multimeter on the solder and find which one has 12 volts with no key in ignition. If you haven't soldered you'll have to strip your connections to get some copper to test with. sorry dude. Anyway when you've found that 12volts with the key out (it will be the only one); just join it to a different cable; hopefully your new diagram shows which one it is?
-
Just to clarify; you can tape up and disconnect the switched active you have got in your headunit now. I think the audio techies call it the "remote" wire. Its supposed to be for an amplifier or other equipment. It's Switched so that when you turn the car off; the amp doesn't sit there and suck the battery away.
-
Hey dude. Damn i really want to help but i can't remember the exact color of the hard active.. I apologise if i'm telling you something you already know; but here's how to investigate and solve your issue. It seems what you've done is plugged the switched active into the head unit instead of putting the hard active in; as you said yeah. What you can do mate; is grab a multimeter. Get all the wires coming out of the car in your hand and strip the ends. Put one end of your multimeter on any metallic bolt or surface you can find and the other on the ends of your cable. The hard active obviously is the one that will get voltage; even when your key is not in the ignition; so... that would be it! hmmm... i'm trying to remember with the 34... i'm thinking black wire with white stripe. but try em all.

I also demand pictures! A quick Cut & Polish removes the yellow gunk but i have yet to be able to remove the "fog" you see at night when the lights are on. I'm worried it's on the inside of the lens.

hey dude; One Galleon bottle will do it for the redline oil. I found i had a small amount left after. Most people use the lightweight; including myself. Not sure about the differences between light & heavy though With your box... Most likely it's the fifth gear syncro. I myself am in the same boat; i will need a gearbox recondition soon. No way around it. It costs money. Lots of it. The other thing i've been told by people is the longer you keep driving with worn syncros the more damage you do to the gears and then the repair job becomes exponentially more expensive. Out of curiosity; how many km's have you done? I'm at 125,000 and Pretty much all my syncros need replacing.
