Hi all Looking at lowering my R34 1.5" Tempe tyres has quoted 450 to lower with King Springs which should include alignment. I dont have the time to do it myself, and would like a good job done. Tempe are charging 400 if done with KMac springs, but Id rather go King. They are willing to do me a deal if I buy some wheels off them. Unforuntately they havent been able to tell me what kind of deal as it depends on the wheels I want to get. Any suggestions or ideas about other places in Sydney who can lower my car at a reasonable price?? Thanks

Ive found the fake kits to be of crap quality. Have installed a genuine C's kit myself, have to say its a very nice and firm feel unlike the fake ones where the gear stick would move all over the place. If you can afford it, go genuine.

Oh and does anyone know the rule about pod filters in NSW? Are they legal if boxed? Will I still get defected if boxed? Police can defect you on anything, its at their discretion isnt it?
-
Kool thanks guys. I think I wont need a bracket because I will be getting a CAI box for it all

I am not home and nowhere near my car And I figured it would be much easier if someone on here knew rather than having to take out the stock box

HiPower racing in QLD and Nengun said there arent any adapters. Strange. Anybody with a 34 who can enlighten us? This is what I have
-
I pretty much have this: With holes at the back of the filter for screws. The nengun site says "The Apexi Intake kit includes. Power intake funnel, Adapter, Gaskets and Bolts." I already have the intake funnel, gaskets and bolts. Just no adapter, but have been told an adapter does not come with the R34 kit because it doesnt need one. Any R34 owners out there with a Apexi pod?
-
Its the actual filter including the funnel and that. So its not just the paper and wire on it. I got this off a mate, unfortunately I dont have pics on me. Grr! But yeah its not just the red paper bit.

Whats your quote on a Legalis R type Evo for a R34 GTT? -
Hi all I have got an Apexi pod filter. On the nengun site it says its a replacement filter. There is no adapter, just holes in the back of the filter where the screws go in. The part number is 500-A022. I know that there is a kit for my R34, part number 500-N006. However this kit does not come with an adapter because the filter will bolt straight on to the AFM. Question is, the replacement filter I have, will that just also bolt straight on? What is the difference between to 2 parts? If there is no adapter in the Apexi kit, then shouldnt the 2 parts be the same? Or are there some other parts that I need? Cheers all!

Shannons Insurance Just Keeps On Getting Better!
nuffsaid replied to Merli's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I tried calling today and was turned down as I am 22. They also mentioned that they only do vintage/unique cars and my R34 didnt fit into that category. -
Anybody else got any opinions or advice?

Hi all I have found a nice set of rims for my R34 GTT. 2 possible sizing schemes: 1) front 18x8.5 (2" dish) and rear 18x9.5 (3" dish) 2) 18x8.5 all round (2" dish) 235/40/18 tyres IanH from R34GTT.net recommends that the best combination is 1) with 265/35/18 tyres at the rear as to not upset the TCS (keeps the rolling diameter the same) For a rather stockish 34GTT I think option 1) is a bit extreme having 9.5" wide rears. I think perhaps 8.5" all round on option 2) is sufficient for looks and traction. Searching on the forum I also found that some people say that wide rims arent always a good thing too as they impact on performance (heavier), balance, pricier tyres and so forth. I guess the only thing is that the 9.5" rears look better with the rears being wider and bigger dish. Then again it might look silly having massively wide rims on just a GTT. I can imagine them going on a GTR though. In summary Option 1) + looks nice - more expensive - performance impacts Option 2) + cheaper + legal + insurance ok + should not upset TCS as all wheels would have the same rolling diameter - not as nice looking maybe What do you guys think? I am leaning towards option 2)

Seat Belts Acting Up - Help!
nuffsaid replied to nuffsaid's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Lazy indeed, and quite annoying! How the hell do they get like this? Anybody got any ideas on how to fix? They look like standard belts to me, not the ugly ones that come through during compliance. -
Hi all My passenger side seat belt for the 34 is acting up. From some site I foudn that the 34 has Front seat belt pre-tensioners, Front seat belt force limiters. The problem is the passenger side seat belt often doesnt wind up by itself. So when a passenger gets out, the belt is just hanging there, you have to push or reel it back in. When you pull it out suddenly it locks as its supposed to, but its just a pain sometimes as it doesnt wind back up by itself easily. Any ideas guys?
-
Hahaha yeah I thought it was pretty neat so decided to use it as an example. Where abouts on this site can I get a pic of a black R34? Do i need to register on the forum?>
-
Motorman, I have the exact same problem as you. Cant reproduce it and it happens only every now and then. I noticed that after I changed my engine and gearbox oil the smell did go away. I cant remember the last time I experienced that smell. But every once in a blue moon it does come up. Did you manage to pinpoint what the problem is?
-
satanic did you get to the root of the problem with your fuel economy?

Hi all I notcied that alot of guys here have small images of skylines in the signatures. Like the one below: How'd ya dudes do these? Cheers

Safe Operating Temp For R33 Gts-t?
nuffsaid replied to sl33py's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Thermostat is not a thermometer, totally different things. A thermostat is this little thing that opens at a certain temperature. ie. I think the way it works is if the water in your engine gets above 90 odd degrees, it opens up so that the water can go into the radiator and cool down. Thats my basic understanding of it, but trust me its job is very important. If you mechanically minded, take out your thermostat, put it in a pot and boil it over a stove. If the water boils, but the thermostat doesnt open, then thats probably your problem. I dont think they're expensive to replace either, maybe $100 or so? -
Safe Operating Temp For R33 Gts-t?
nuffsaid replied to sl33py's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Definately an issue. As said, any modern car should have its temp gauge at the halfway mark no matter how hot it is or how hard you drive (not track style driving though for long periods of time). Try replacing the thermostat, maybe its not opening up at the right temperature. You can also try using Redline WaterWetter, works better than any of your average coolant. -
Yeah I believe I have spoken to Charles on several occasions. Cant find anything I like. Problem is I dont know of any other brands or models that make something I want. ie. black with machined lip, so its kinda hard for JDMImports to find something for me if I dont know what rim I am looking for in particular.
