  1. For the first time out on an untested car, and my first time ever at PI, not too bad. The car developed a miss at 3,500rpm - half way through 2nd session. Revs OK when stationary - just doesn't go under load (blows smoke and misses/stutters). I suspect coil packs, but will take it to Racepace. Aside from that, the suspension setup was great. Didn't get a real chance to understand how the tyres react and optimal pressures. I couldn't really get grip coming out of corners, so I think the diff will need some work too. Hail was a major downer! All in all, not a bad first day out. I didn't stack the car, the engine didn't blow, and got to go fast!! When's the next day??
  2. Hey guys, just did the AROCA track day this weekend. The early start, travel down, long day and travel home nearly killed me. So, I reckon staying down there the night prior is the trick. I'm assuming some of you guys stay there for weekends too. I'm after some recommendations for decent accomodation with room to park the car with tandem trailer. Advice would be appreciated!! Thanks
  3. Fantastic thanks for posting up the pictures
  4. That'd be fantastic. do you have specs of the trailer bed and how it pivots off the drawbar?
  5. Hey, great project. I am in the process of planning my trailer for the track car. I've got a large tandem that just ain't what I want. So, maybe you can help out with a couple of questions: 1) How long is the deck from the pivot point? Does the whole car wheel base roll on to the trailer before it reaches the pivot point (so it doesn't tip prematurely)? 2) What do the mini-ramps do? 3) You mentioned you used drop axles? are they different to conventional axles? If they are different - do you have pics? 4) Is it possible to get a picture of the whole trailer setup side on (tipped) 5) Are the leaf springs individually mounted (not load sharing) Thanks - in advance!
  6. Hah!, I'm over 40...and dress pretty conservatively I think it was cos it was so dark and I sorta followed him a bit.... hmmm, don't blame the guy now!!
  7. Yeah, he was an older professional looking kind of person... looking nervously at his iPhone. I really was hoping he'd get out of his car so I could ask him questions about the car (and maybe look inside)
  8. Saw one last night... much smaller than I thought I'm sure the guy thought I was stalking him... I walked around the car

Thanks for the update Ash! Give us some time to book this in (and make sure we don't have track days on the same day)!!
  10. Nup, re-coat in clear.... I had the same problem
  11. Discovered the same thing recently when I went to rego my car. Lucky mine had it stamped on the chassis: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/156269-the-epa-threadroadworthy-thread/page__st__1280
  12. Marysville is still a bit limited in facilities since the fires - although the tourism dollar would be welcome. There are some nice country roads out there, but you need to be careful... if you know what I mean!!
  13. Think he's back next week. I'm taking mine down for dyno tune on Tuesday before I hit the tracks.
  14. Hah it's been ages since I've seen someone do the string alignment! I'd be curious to learn how you do it!
  15. Agreed - I have one! I bought a Laredo for corporate and towing duties - it amazes me how good it is with the power, economy and handling. Chassis is really good, and comfy to boot! See Fletch at Northern - he's a good bloke and know his Jeep stuff (being an ex pres of Melb Jeep Owners Club).
  16. .... and it didn't take long.... he he he... I was wondering when I'd get a reply! Nah, I really enjoy seeing Webber win.
  17. I know it's harsh, the Bradbury award comes to mind with Webber... had to be said!!

Hey Ash, any thoughts on this?
  20. Haha nah, I'm building up a track car. Just envious of you guys that do the serious stuff. Hopefully I can pilot a jet at speed....
  21. Dude, you've got the cred. Just because your car breaks, or you don't win is irrelevant (although it would be nice). You've been there - which is something lots of us appreciate and would aspire to. You're not a keyboard warrior making up crap.
  22. YAY! got rego on the car.... but the inspector made me sweat. He said that most interstate cars don't have the compliance Chassis number stamped on the body, just on the plate. It just so happens my car had the chassis number stamped on the strut tower - otherwise I wouldn't be able to rego the car there and then!

The idea seems to have quite a bit of interest. Just need to wait for some people to do some homework.
  24. Yep, paid it.... Last time I had to ring someone to find out where the engine number was - the woman inspector had no idea.
