  1. For those of us where price matters..... The new Jeep is great value and fantastic build quality at $50K odd (compared to the older ones).
  2. They also came out with a High Output motor - better for acceleration in towing (which mine lacked), but still asking a premium on the 2nd hand market. Very cheap for a standard V8, but careful of the maintenance - that's what caused me to sell mine (there are many people that had a dream run too).
  3. Yeah, I had the older 4.7. Supposed to tow around 3T but I wasn't too confident with it towing the 32GTR.
  4. Yeah, you're right.... just pro-actively bragging about my new tow car!!
  5. My new Diesel Grand Cherokee is being delivered on Saturday morning. The new GC is quite a different beast with a new motor and vastly improved build quality with Fiat ownership.
  6. New Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel or V8.... they tow 3.5T & have 550nm
  7. I went over to the ellenbrook shopping centre opening (had some business there). I thought it was a really nice suburb, till I went back the next day to find a stolen/dumped car in the main carpark with light pole toppled over. I didn't believe the locals till I saw it for myself. But I'm from the east, what would I know! But as the other guys say - budget dictates location. Building is usually cheaper than buying established, but it takes time. Maybe the 'predicted' GFC will shake things up...
  8. Yeah that would suck. Don't blame you for going it alone.
  9. I agree, it looks like a Murano cross between 370z. I'll bet it's being positioned to be a Porsche Cayenne rival. I don't hate it.
  10. It got to be a battle of principle in the end. The amount of avoidance was frustrating. We eventually got our money. That, and the insurance company playing funny buggers just made it our job to try and recover all the money we were owed.
  11. I know this isn't a car damage story, but it's a VicRoads incident all the same. After the bushfires, the only thing that survived on my property was my steel gate & fence line. Anyhow, VicRoads decided to do some maintenance on the roadside verge a couple of weeks after the bushfires (go figure). They dropped a tree across my fence - my only surviving asset!! You can imagine my disappointment, considering we were traumatised by the fires and eager to get back on our feet again - with this careless piece of maintenance setting us back one step. To cut a long story short - we lodged a complaint and they basically said bad luck. Initially they blamed the volunteer groups, then some other department, then we got in touch with a VicRoads representative for the bushfires. She said she'd look into it, but basically don't count on it (based some sort of legislation which I couldn't find). I felt like asking how she'd feel if I drove through ther front fence and said "bad luck, refer to the legislation". We complained and chased the representative every second day for months and months. My wife and I took turns in hassling them. I only claimed bare minimum materials & bugger all labour. They eventually paid up after a VERY looooong time. Hint: If you get a name, keep records, and the slightest hint of compensation - you gotta play the game and be persistent, really persistent.
  12. tower audio did my R32 GTR Warrigal Rd Moorabbin 9553 3054
  13. Fair point. I just wanna see what I paid $25 for.... increased visiblity is a must!!
  14. I suspect the organisers would have heard it loud and clear that they hadn't catered very well for the general public. I went with the Mrs and we were extremely disappointed with the inability to see anything. You would expect that considering it's an event for the spectators that they would have spent a bit more time planning it out a bit better. After all, isn't that how they make an income? Here's hoping that they do a better job next time. I would need A LOT of convincing to go back. Shame about the state of the venue.... I was even disappointed in the signage (lack of) and the state of the car park - it looked like a poorly graded tip. The highlight of Sunday was walking up to the SAU end of the pits to talk to Richo and Russ between sessions (the one after the tyre was removed from the track). Sorry I missed introducing myself to you!
  15. hah! I used to own a 120Y with sticky yokahama tyres so I didn't need to slow down for bends... You could rev its ring off and it was easy to work on. I hated its retro looks back then, would be different now! We nicknamed it the Diablo 120Y... my mate had the Maza-eradi
  16. hmmm, nice modest mods... maybe look you up if my 32 GTR sells tomorrow...
  17. You're right! WTF? how can someone get done so many times? I'd say the laws are out of proportion. Bashings, stabbings = good behaviour & smack on the wrist (how often do we hear about these instances?)..... versus speeding = massive fines, etc . Not condoning speeding, but there seems to be an imbalance here.
  18. Is the car a GTST? Is it manual?
  19. Awesome - I've got a pair that I move from car to car - can't live without them. Really great frequency range and very good clarity.
  20. It's the big end bearings spinning - that you need to be afraid of - which is an RB26 'feature'. I just replaced my engine with a '33 GTR one - the comment from the mechanic was "It's bound to happen some time" Especially if you're putting it on a track. A $10k 'basic' race engine build is too steep for me - that's why I'm selling mine to downgrade to a GTST so I can track it with less fear of emptying my pockets. For me - I feel that my R32 GTR is too nice to put on a track (even though I've done the suspension, control arms, hicas mods, etc). I don't think the big end bearings are a big problem for a streeter with some spirited driving. You can't ignore the age of the vehicle - maintenance items will be a given. Although it'You really need to keep up the oil & filter changes at a minimum. Bearings, bushes, turbos, hoses, etc will inevitably need replacing at some time. IMHO, I'd prefer to keep it as a nice handling, good looking 20 year old streeter.

It's almost like racism for the roads. If you look a certain way, or have certain attirbutes - you get treated differently and picked on.
  23. My experience wasn't so good (went once, and went back again to have it fixed). I won't go back because the 2nd repair wasn't very good either.
