I share exactly the same sentiment. That's one of the many reasons why I am selling the GTR. If I get another import, it'll be a trailer queen between track days. I've even considered an MX5 to shake the stigma....

My wife has had it done twice.... She did it many years ago and not so long ago to get her right in her 40's. As long as you keep up the eye drops as per the prescription you are fine. 2 people at work did the surgery and complained it went badly. Strange, but they ignored the doctors orders and didn't put the drops in their eyes as they were supposed to - it took them much longer to recover.... dipshits. The wife swears by it.... and she'd get it done again if need be.

What's the process if someone calls the hoon hotline and reports someone? Consider the implications if someone is reported for doing nothing wrong at all? Eg: disgruntled partner, unhappy neighbour, etc... Can the authorities act on a phone call?

each to their own... I don't like 'em, but different strokes for different folks...

Probably thought you were part of the AFP and left you alone....

It's getting out of control. Motoring/bike enthusiasts will think twice and may not want to come up to Kinglake for a day cruise. I'm pretty sure it is going to affect local business who are struggling.
-
There were 3 unmarked cop cars up at Kinglake yesterday and today (ones that I could identify - black Holden ute, red Holden wagon and ford sedan). That's in addition to the 3 x marked TOG cars and the 2 local cop cars. Oh yeah, there were a few cop bikes too. Last week they had all 4 sides of the roundabout staked out stopping all vehicles and doing breathalyser tests (and whatever other checks they wanted to do). It's crazy up at Kinglake now - it's the 2nd time in a fortnight that there has been a blitz, let alone the blitzes that have been happening with regularity in the past few months. On Friday, the local shop owner told me they have also been using the special cameras that scan your number plates to check your history. Too scared to take the GTR out of my driveway....

Heaps of cops doing breathos in Yarra Glen. Also saw a few bikes heading up the hills.

Got pulled over today in my GTR... driving at 70kph in an 80 zone heading towards Yarra Glen. I saw the cop coming head on, watched him drive past and go a km or 2 down the road behind me. Cool I think, he's not going to pick on me. I went over the hill into Yarra Glen, only to look in my mirror and see the cop car with lights on.... waiting for me to pull over. WTF? What did I do wrong?? Here we go I think... my import is off the road now... How the hell did he get behind me in such a short time?? He must have covered 4-odd kays in next to no time. I jump out of the car and the cop stops for a few seconds... realises I'm not a young person (I'm over 40). Not sure what to do next, he asks for my license. Seems surprised that I live in the area... He makes some crappy excuse that the thought my rego sticker was a p-plate. Drives off... leaves me wondering what just happened... I don't know what to make of it.... except that I'm certain that they targetted me just because I drive an import. Makes me think maybe I should start looking at something more 'common' looking .... maybe an RS4/6??

Turbo situation now resolved. WTB can be 'closed off'. Thanks to those guys that replied.

Hey there, just after a couple of standard turbos from an R32 GTR (or R33 for that matter). Don't have to be in spectacular condition, just working will do. I don't want to spend heaps.... so PM/call me if you've got some sitting around - 0401 994 746

N1 Oil Pump Into Rb26 - To Prevent Big Bearing Problems?
JZP replied to JZP's topic in General Maintenance
Hey there, it seems I have already ended up with a long-block! My GTR has spun a bearing and I have had racepace swap it out. Must say though your price for a long block is pretty cheap - I couldn't find anything near that price and I rang around heaps! So, I've now got a long block and need to put an engine rebuild shopping list together so I can buy things progressively... I'm considering building the long-block myself (or at least pulling it down and giving the parts to someone so they can build it properly). I've done a few 4-cylinder engine re-builds back when most cars had carbies and EFI was a 'new fangled thing'... For starters - I want the engine to be daily driveable and not insane... but want it to put out a decent amount of rear wheel killerwasps... I'd like to track it too so even output across the power band would be a nice to have (I know you can't have your cake and eat it too). I know there are heaps of threads out there with peoples 'build'. But I'd like to put together a shipping list of worthwhile things to buy... there's a lot of BS out there and any qualified help would be great. -
... and now to see them running against each other on the track .....! ... 35 showdown...
-
Surely it couldn't be a valid speed camera, with the tree swaying with the wind (natural and induced by cars driving past).... skewing the readings??
-
..... racepace to do the work..... and bits from Osaka Imports in Knox
-
..... homer drool......

Hey, what app are you using to produce these graphs? I think you were using an iPhone?

Yikes, there seems to be a science to it! .... or we're just complicating something that is really simple.... -

Block restrictor?? Ain't heard of one of those before... I'll do a search after this. -

Occasionally it's a daily driver (when I can't be bothered driving the 4WD), but also track work. I live in the hills, so driving mountains is a frequent occurrence. -
Hey there, in an effort to hold-off the inevitable big-end bearing crapping itself in my R32 GTR - I'm considering installing an N1 Oil pump. I know it will eventually spin a big-end bearing, but I figure that at least the N1 oil pump is pushing more oil around the motor which would do a better job of keeping the big-end bearings lubricated. My car has had the boost adjusted, high flow turbos, and an Apexi PFC - so this 20 year old car is pushing a few more KW's than standard. I'd like to keep it going a few more years before I need to re-build the engine. Does anyone out there have experience with this? Am I just wasting my time or is there some merit in this approach?? .....Oh yeah, would a sump baffle help too??

Hey there, stuffed my R32 GTR motor - after another one... Not after a monster engine, just a standard short motor. I'm hoping someone has one sitting in their garage on a project that isn't going to fly. I need to make a decision within the next few days. Will pickup in Melb - not looking to spend heaps. Pls PM or call 0401 994746 Thx
