  1. Good luck - it's a collectors item.
  2. Must agree with you. There are a lot of things going for them. There seems to be quite a few good S and R 'starters' out there. For now I'll be sticking to the R32 GTR and tracking it for a while till either I break it or want to take a different path. I'll still be keeping my eyes open for that 'deal that I can't refuse'.
  3. Just picked up issue #134 this morning at the news agent... still in the boxes and hadn't put them on the shelf yet... Can't wait to read it later today!!
  4. Hey there. I've just re-installed a standard airbox into my R32 GTR but it didn't come with the hose bit that attaches to the front of the inner guard. PM me if you have one lying around... someone in Vic would be good, but not imperative.
  5. Evo VIII for $7,800 - misprint? http://www.carsales....7C4E49&__N=1216 1247 1252 1282 4294964597 4294966896&__Ntx=mode matchallpartial&seot=1&__Nne=15&__Dx=mode matchany
  6. Ahhh yeah - probably good to outline that one! I've done some track days and found it extremely addictive and can see it going much further. I plan to 'perfect' my track skills to start with.. That's why I thought to 'plan ahead' before I sink too much cash into the current car. I think I'll try to get some respectable times out of the R32 GTR before I get ahead of myself. Who knows, I might just be a crap driver!
  7. Racepace talked some sense into me... I could end up spending just as much as I can get for my R32 GTR on a GTST (with my budget, an R33 GTST, just as Roy suggested). The common sense discussion had was to spend a little more on my current R32 GTR (caster arms and Hicas lock) and basically tune the car to drive nice on the track and enjoy myself (for now util I break something, or want more power...). Wise words.. Either way, I'll still keep my eyes open for an R33 GTST.... just in case I find one I can't refuse!
  8. Bugger, I'm at Winton on that day.
  9. Russ, great thread. You were the guy that made me re-think things with my GTR and track-cars (you've probably seen my thread). Seeing the facts and figures that you and Roy were achieving made me realise that just owning a nice horsepower (costly) GTR does not make a good track car. Watching this thread with interest
  10. Agree... There's heaps of S13's with mega mods though...
  11. I've owned 3 mid mounts in the past. These cars are the best for 'seat of the pants' feeling. You can feel what the car is doing - and you feel like part of the car. Properly setup, they can out-handle most vehicles. Damn, I kept up with a porsche in the wet on twisty roads in my old Fiat X/19 which had a 1.3 litre engine. It's just the straight line speed needs to be 'encouraged'. Even a standard elise does well at a track day... V8 in an MR2.... please.... pffft

    My Gtr Stolen

I've been told about this product called Etrace, by a colleague who's selling it in Aus. Apparently it is a bit of hardware you install that reports your GPS co-ordinates, including speed, location etc every few seconds. You can track it on the website using Google maps. It's handy for organisations that have a few cars, or people who might contest speed camera fines. It also tells you where your stolen car is!! I've been told it's around $750 installed, which includes a few years of tracking with the provider. Anyone heard of this product? Do you think it has its merits?
  14. Yeah I noticed it had an RB20! It depends on how well the 'conversion' was done...
  15. About 2 days too late! I gave Poly the go ahead.... Damn!
  16. OK, a stocktake of the vehicles recommended so far: High on my list: Silvia S13/14 (has its merits, but still a 4-pot) R32/33 GTS-T (I have a bit of history here... and guys like Russman do some good times in their car) Not high on my list: Aussie car or MX5 (not my cup of tea) EMO (EVO) (nice, but I don't know enough about them... and 4wd drivetrain that I think will be safer staying away from right now) STI (Same as the EMO) Radical/ Lotus/special (I like the idea, but It's a bit 'radical' to my way of thinking ATM. Reconsider if I get more serious) Looking back at that list... It seems I will be shopping for a Nissan! .... now to do a list of the 'nice to haves' between each of the models for the input so far.
  17. Yep, that's me!! ... small world indeed!
  18. OK, fair enough... I guess it is my terminology.. I kind of 'get' it that the Silvia's are best bang for buck, but (like many here) I just can't get my head around a 4 cylinder. The thought of the EVO is interesting, but it's back to the similar guidelines of the GTR - complexity, cost, etc. Being a bit old fashioned and set in my ways - I like the sound of the 6 cylinders - and I've also gotta like the look of the car too. I also have a soft spot for the R33 GTS-T's because I used to own one. Now to start thinking about selling the GTR... plans may be on hold for a while as my tow V8 4WD just dropped a couple of valve seats...
  19. It's kind of funny, most of the recommendations are anything BUT a Skyline... Great input so far... thanks guys!
  20. I've seen some old Evo's with mods starting around $8k going upwards. I guess it's like the GTR's - the later the technology the better the vehicle?
  21. I like your lateral thinking. I've just spent some time looking at Silvia's. There seems to be heaps of them out there with plenty of mods/variations. I guess if I could get something half/mostly done, it would save me $$ in the long run. ha ha... you said bum dragger... but you're right - it seems to be the best 'over all' package. I recall a few weeks back someone on this forum selling an R33 GTST with roll cage, etc for not too much.
