  1. Hey Chris - good feedback. Ive done a couple of track days at Winton, and have realised that the GTR is easily shown up by 'lesser' cars. I'd like to spend more time doing track days for now - I'm not sure where it will take me... So I suppose I should probably limit my expenditure to around $10k for now and see where I end up.
  2. Thanks for your input - it's exactly the kind of considered responses I am after.
  3. Hi guys, There seems to be a really good motorsport brains trust here, so I'd value your input. Racepace maintan/mod my R32GTR which has seen the track a couple of times. I'd really like to dive into the sport, but don't want to put a great road car on the track only to keep modifying it and diminsh its value. To get a bit more serious on the track, I'd need to do more mods on the GTR to start getting decent times which ends up making the car more track oriented. Therefore, I'm considering selling the GTR and getting something purpose built for the track (trailer it to/from venues). I like the simplicity of rolling the car on/off the trailer, driving it and maintaining it at my leisure. This way I can minimise costs. My question is this - if you had a clean slate, what would you guys buy? Some of my considerations are: 1) Cheap-ish entry price to buy - something that won't make me cry too much if I total it. It does not need to be a Nissan 2) A car that does reasonable times on the track without too many mods 3) Easy(ish) maintenance (eg - complicated, or heavy 4wd systems) 4) Something that I can modify (or grow into) as my skills improve 5) Lessons learnt 6) Tracking/lap timing/recording tools Yes, I've seen quite a few topics, but they focus on specifics. However I'm interested in what you guys suggest in my situation..
  4. Take it easy... I'm in IT.. I know it goes against convention (being in IT and NOT having a Facebook account), but I just haven't had a reason to use it... till now. It just means I need to check and manage 'another' thing....
  5. Would love to come up today.... but car is in panel beaters....bugger. It seems it will be a good day - might get a bit warm for those GTR's.
  6. I know it's slightly off topic, but I thought it would be of interest - I saw this at a caravan and camping show a few years back.
  7. So Kaido, I've read through all the pages, but it was hard to keep track of all the decisions made... can you list the final spec sheet of the modifications?
  8. Need I say it...... Racepace......

  10. .... small problem... not on Facebook.....
  11. Hey guys, just got followed by the authorities from Coldstream to Healesville today... I was wondering if they'd pull me over to 'inspect' my GTR.... Man! it made me nervous! I was so worried about what was happening in the mirror and I was SURE that I'd miss a speed limit or do something stupid! I chickened out and pulled over so he passed me. I think it would be wise to park the imports over the weekend... I know I will. Apparently there will be a blitz on vehicles over the next 3 days.
  12. Don't think Skyline owners are the only ones getting the raw end of th deal. 4WD owners get the same crap and more. I've got a modified 4WD and go offroad - but you take to the road with the same fear that you will be pulled over and get done for something because the officer feels like it. In addition to the same road-based BS that happens to 4wd'ers - the BS extends to the offroad tracks. You'll get defected OFFROAD on a 4WD track. To make matters worse, the government/greenies are also closing down the tracks claiming 'a return to nature' or 'excessive erosion of fire trails'. The facts I've seen show that the parks resources are managing more space with less resource - so it's easier to close the tracks. In actual fact, the 4WD clubs actually help clear the tracks of fallen trees and do rubbish collection. The reality is the do-gooders have no concept of 'being reasonable'. The dedicated greenies never go in the bush - yet the tracks get closed down, in the same vein as us Skyline owners - we get called 'hoons' and get targeted on the roads (they can't really close the roads down...). It seems the authorities/pollies tend to to be led by popularity and follow what buys most votes....
  13. Auto image interiors: http://www.autoimage.com.au/ They do show cars and dealership cars. One of the cars they did is on the cover of the current issue of the Street Machine magazine. Did my 4WD seats and converted them to "recaro" style with leather and suede inserts. Fantastic job.... they fixed my broken seat back and the seat heaters too... but a bit more expensive than $500!!
  14. After some mats for my R32 GTR... Let me know if any of you guys in Melb have some floating around. PM me.
  15. hey dude, how do I provide ranking/feedback?

  16. I never got his name - I just checked his mobile number against the scammers list.
  17. Thanks guys for replying. I hope to pick up some rims next week.
  18. I just got approached yesterday by someone replying to my WTB post, stating they had the goods I was after and that they were from Townsville. I did my checking and discovered the phone number was listed on the scammers list. A mate of mine has also heard of a similar scammer operating on the Holden and Ford forums - this individual was also allegedly "dealing" out of Townsville. I can only stress that you need to understand (and accept) the potential risks with trading over the 'net - especially with purchases interstate where you rely on the seller to be honest and post things on your behalf after you have put the $$ in their account. To stress - most people are honest.... but you need to be CAREFUL and take as many safety measures as possible - especially if you're spending lots of money!!
  19. Just to be specific, I'm after R33 GTR wheels or R34 GTR wheels. I suppose I'm not fussed what model wheels they are as long as they are 18" x 9/9.5" ish... with the right offset. I'd even consider 17" rims with the same width and offset, but the price would need to be right too. I just don't want cheap and nasty no-name brand rims.... Thanks for looking!
  20. Fishing around for some track rims to put on my R32 GTR. I figure either R33 or R34 GTR rims would do the job. I don't want to spend more than $1000 for the 4 rims.... I suppose something in Melb/Vic would be nice so I can come and have a look. Jack 0401 994 746
