Does It Feel Like Your R33 Is Outdated?
senilykSkylines replied to crazyr33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Your skyline looks mint. Don't worry about it. -
Many thanks, I'll check it out. My cousin mention the tps as well. I'll give it a go. Where is it in the engine? (sorry for my ignorance), I will have a look around to see if I can find it.

Who's Got The Best Looking N/a Here?
senilykSkylines replied to a topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Here is my R33. Different from the ones so far... -
I found this - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Di...;hl=rising+revs. I might try this out, because it sounds more like the problem. I have A/C off most of the time and the A/C doesn't work neway.

I tried lowering the idle a ways back but it was already as far back as it would go from memory. I'll try again. I don't think it is the tuning because the guy who installed the box made it so that the car thought it was in neutral all the time. If he did it in drive it would do it I would imagine. I'll just have to do some more tests and fiddling around. cheers, Dan

Please anyone? Any ideas as to the cause? Is it simply needing a tune after the conversion?

Like this chip? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-285101929.htm I was looking up Nistune... I don't know much about it but it sounds like a program you can use yourself. Cool fun! http://www.nistune.com/ Do you guys use it? cheers.

Hey guys, It will be a little while off before I get a turbo bolted on...however, I am looking for the right ecu to tune my car. Excuse my ignorance but is it possible to get an ecu that can be used for a car without a turbo and one with a turbo? Also, I am quite keen to tune my car since I have put the extractors in to make the most of them. Can I retune it, such as advancing the timing, with my stock ecu? Can I do things like increase fuel through the injectors with the stock ecu? NE info on the ecu would be useful. Cheers guys.

Just wondering if you guys had any ideas regarding a weird problem I have with my skyline. When the car is warm and I stop to idle...the revs rise to about 2000 rpm and then hold there and then drops down to 1100 rpm. When it is cold it smoothly idles at 7-800 rpm? Just when it is warm it is high. I took it to a mechanic and he said it could be any number of things but he thought it could be the computer thinking it is an auto (I did a manual conversion), but somehow I am not sure about that. Anyone else had a problem like this switching from auto to manual? Help!

Bolt On Turbo Or Nos Kit?
senilykSkylines replied to senilykSkylines's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Cheers dori34. I would be tempted, but I am all the way over in New Zealand so the postage would not be worth it. Thanks N-Dawg for the info, I am keen to go forward with plans for a DE+T setup. -
Bolt On Turbo Or Nos Kit?
senilykSkylines replied to senilykSkylines's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks mate. I did not realise that a lot could still be done to it. Unless I am blind, it looks like that guy is hammering out that power on the original high compression pistons...impressive. +t is the better option for me. gtst's are still quite expencive compare to N/A's. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/CategoryAt...owsing=1&14=& I also want to work on it myself and fiddle around with it, just buying a fast car is not as much fun, better to make it fast . Does anyone know how much hp my RB30 box would handle? I hear they are pretty strong. A point I don't really understand is psi boost. Some say RB25DE will only take 6-7psi comfortably which equates to 50-60 hp. Does that mean the car is limited full stop to 250hp or so? Or can mods such as a decent intercooler etc increase power and yet not damage the engine? I understand that intercoolers cool the air going into the engine therefore making the oxygen more dense...would that mean psi/pressure is increased on top of the 6-7psi? Hope the quesiton is understood. cheers guys. -
Bolt On Turbo Or Nos Kit?
senilykSkylines replied to senilykSkylines's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
"you watch too many movies . 1 nitrous DOES NOT BURN . it is an oxide and it only increases power by letting you burn more fuel " Ya, though more power=more pressure. -
Bolt On Turbo Or Nos Kit?
senilykSkylines replied to senilykSkylines's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I have been reading the hains performance manual so I am no ignorant dummy...just learning. Thanks anyway guys. Maybe I will de+t it. cheers. -
Hey, I have an R33 GTS25 (1994) and I am trying to draw the best plan to get more power, even though it still has a little grunt :-). I am too attached to my car so buying a gtst is not an option. My current mods are some extractors, pod filter and a conversion to manual with an RB30 box. I have been encouraged to get a bolt on turbo but I have since been reading about NOS. The car won't be used for racing and power will not be used all the time which would suit NOS I would imagine...a bit of punch here or there would be awesome fun! Is there anyone here who has used NOS with an N/A Skyline? If so what bits would I need to upgrade to hold a 50-75hp shot or even a 100hp? How much can it take? They say 6psi from a turbo is approximately 60hp, would then 75-100hp of NOS be too much for the N/A? I figured that 2mins or so of NOS at WOT is a long time so I am not worried about the limitations there. I actually wondered if it would be cheaper on fuel than a turbo because a turbo is running most of the time and NOS isn't. There aren't many NOS cars around that I know of, so NOSing it is a little different So is NOS a bad idea or is the turbo the way to go? Also, I am from NZ. Does anyone know what the laws are regarding NOS in NZ? Is it legal? NE Kiwis here? Oh and one last thing, how dangerous is it in a crash to have a pressurised 10pound bottle of NOS sitting in your car?...boom? cheers guys.

<i>DO NOT WASTE MONEY SAVE FOR TURBO</i> Hmmm, In another thread you gave this video .Not bad really what you can do with them. At least its respectable.

Why Is My Skyline So Slow
senilykSkylines replied to brandon112's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks guys. Yup. My skyline is rather light on the back. Not hard to loose traction. Talking about gearing... The weird thing is, I recon my skyline "felt" faster when it was an auto rather than the RB30 manual box in there, it might be the worn bearings? (I am getting the bearings fixed soon.) Or it could be just the higher gearing which means it will be faster on the open road rather than off the mark. I am surprised at the original post on this thread that the skyline did 0-100 in tens. Something must have been wrong. -
Why Is My Skyline So Slow
senilykSkylines replied to brandon112's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Well, I suppose .8 could be a long time. Never really had much experience, but thanks guys. For weight/power ratios of the similar car years are: 1994 SZ 3L Supra: 1420kg with 225 Hp 1993 2.5L Skyline R33 GTS25: 1360kg with 190hp. Unless my maths is wrong or real life is completely different to stats (thus possibly admitting a Supra is far better than a skyline), I should have not much problem attaining 20- 35 hp more from an N/A to equal a Supra. LOL. http://www.cars-directory.net/specs/toyota...ra/1994_8/4528/ http://www.cars-directory.net/specs/nissan...e/1993_8/21710/ -
Why Is My Skyline So Slow
senilykSkylines replied to brandon112's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey guys, This may be useful: I did a manual conversion in my R33 non turbo 2.5L and did some runs with my little bro sitting next to me with a stop watch. I get 0-100 in about 9.4secs which I thought was slowish. (Though I was not launching properly, pretty much starting the car with no skidding and flooring it). I then realized that I could go faster skidding tyres to get off the mark, though I have not tried it as of yet. All I had was a pod filter and heat shield with good platinum spark plugs. It has an RB30 box in there with worn bearings too. 0-65 in first and the rest in second...just hitting the red line in first so I thought that was rather high geared. Ratios would matter a lot also I would have thought. Oh, and my engine has done about 230,000kms at the time so it is old but in good condition. I think it needs a tune too? idling is a bit weird when warm. Rises to 2000 revs and then drops and sits at 1000-1100. I can even the the clutch out with no accelerator and it won't stall Considering all, I think it didn't do too bad really. P.S. Here is a great sight and seems interesting. http://www.letstorquebhp.com/calculator.asp It says my skyline should be doing around 0-100 in 7.4secs and a quarter in 15.8. I recon driven properly and a newer engine it would get close to that. Still a bit of grunt in them I think Note: An N/A Supra is only running about 6.6 for 0-100 according to that site. Skyline not too far behind especially for a 2.5L as opposed. to a 3L. I get weights of cars and power stats from here http://www.cars-directory.net/ Love to get my N/A Skyline to beat a Supra N/A LOL. cheers P.S. I hope to slowly get some decent power out of a 2.5 N/A, there is lots I can do slowly. Anyone know a forum or place that talks about my ECU. Should I stick with this one when doing upgrades and get it re-tuned or do I have to get a new chip that can be re-tuned to match my upgrades like my extractors etc? I hear rumours that gts25's can't be remapped/tuned? As you can see, I don't know a lot.
