  6. coil packs or too much timing more than likely coilpacks dying under load and causing detonation
  7. I say why waste $800 on coil packs when u can send your coil loom to me and get a wastespark setup for 200 and never have a problem again makes sense saves dollars why wouldn ya
  8. on the exhaust side the engine number is located down near the bottom of the engine there are two plates one says rb20 and the one beside it says the engine number prob best to get some degreaser down there can be fun to read in a car specially when all greased over etc
  9. chipped factory ecu run gtr skyline injectors 440cc plenty of fuel for what your chasing, run a falcon throttle body, 3inch straight thru exhaust, external gate 38mm with screamer, to4e or gt28rs are both good options even a good rb25 turbo will do the trick, get a walboro intank fuel pump take yours out slot it in and a rising rate fuel pressure regulator should see the power your looking for piece of cake and an afm from a z32 300zx

  11. done the same with a gts4 engine piece of cake take the front cvs off and shafts out simple split pin punch and knock the pins out pull of the cvs take the top cover off the front diff on the exhaust side of the engine free the front diff centre by grinding away one side or a couple notchs proceed to grind the sump flush removing the housing the front diff sits in jump on the other side start grinding the bits that stick out which is the cv mount on the intake side this side needs to be grinded pretty close to the side of the sump as it needs to clear the steering knuckle at the bottom of the steering rack you will notice if you have not grinded enough as the sump will sit on the steering rack knuckle pull engine again and grind some more all up took me about 45mins of grinding and algud bonus is you wont need to move the oil pickup and install a rwd sump giving you 5.0litres of oil in the sump instead of 4.6 makes a big difference and the alloy sump is finned unlike the rwd crappy steel one
  12. hey man. just so you know in general when coilpacks go the car still idles on 6cylinders its when under load it will normally start detonating and misfiring dropping cylinders etc on one of my past engines was only running on 5 cylinders changed coilpacks ignitor crank angle sensor etc.. none of them were a problem so decided to do a compression test tells all tales took the spark plug out of cylinder 6 to find the end broken off run a compression test no compression on 6cylinder sounded like a hotted up subaru and a gtr with the old foot down all cylinders make some compression under full load anyways couple weeks later after some text book thrashing pulled it out and to pieces that bit of spark plug took a nice chunk out of an exhaust valve anyways advice for you - check coil and injector loom replace if necessary - remove spark plugs check for missing bits - run a compression test these engines originally came out with 180psi per cylinder. yours will more than likely have less if all cylinders are even or within 10 percent of the highest reading cylinder algud otherwise some problems with valve seals, piston rings or head gasket depending!!! - also check near the fuse box and all earths on the vehicle - find another standard ecu - get it on the diognostic tester local mechanical shop - use the red and green lights on the ecu to manually check for fault codes if possible on this model - look for hole in engine lol anyways if all this doesnt work or you would like some furthur information feel free to ask
