  1. Did you know the SSV sedans copied the R32 GTR spoiler?
  2. I think xALmoN has pretty much got it right. Either that or MR2 SW20.
  3. Honestly getting a bit more scared driving my car around now, as if there wasn't enough crap to be scared of happening to the car in the first place...
  4. Roughly 1.6k to 2k RPM when normal driving. 7k for max acceleration. I'm NA so i can shift earlier.
  5. Heh nice, our team has decided on the CBR as well. Seems that many voted on it for its economy, performance, quantities, information, low CoG etc like you guys and the forums said.
  6. Yup and you will evenually want to shoot yourself driving on the freeway for prolonged periods of time.
  7. Choosing an engine for the racer now, it's a decision between the Yamaha YZF-R6 and Honda CBR600 RR/F4i. Check these out: If anyone has any suggestions or further information please do share
  8. start /rant Was wondering if anybody feels discriminated against just cause your Skyline is NA. I kinda feel it a bit. Haven't been on a dyno day yet, still waiting till it's $40-$50 again. But it's gonna be pretty awkward cause all the fully sickers are gonna expect 99999kW just cause it's a Skyline just to be heart broken cause it's NA. Also the community and it shows on this forum too; it's like if your Skyline isn't turboed it isn't considered a Skyline or something, people don't wanna help you as much, all the comments revolve around 'get a turbo' etc. Maybe i'm just biatching but you know it's true lol. end /rant
  9. Take off the 2 turbos and replace with 2 superchargers.
  10. Another one of these exhaust size threads again?? Dewd try search before your next thread. I will nominate 2.5" as it gives a nice mid range and a good top end. I have also had experience with 3" catback that is why I say 2.5". Never tried 2.25" by the way.
  11. Well that's not for me to finalize but the previous years we have used either the Honda CBR 250 RRs or the Yamaha YZF-R6 so we may use that again. Still very early on in the design process, roles have been handed out and we just had a briefing on previous FSAEs and strategies. We should be using a rear wheel drivetrain as per usual, but some people have brought up an AWD drivetrain similar in function to the GTRs to be more unique or experiment (doubt it will get far lol). As for transmission, there have been ideas of 2 speeds going round but i will debate on at least a 4 speed to keep the torque up We are not competing this year but do expect the ultimate challenger in 2012
  12. Alright, who was the unlucky red/burgundy R33 that got pulled over by police on the busy M1 near Toorak Rd exit just a few hours ago for inspection while i slipped away on the right lane?
  13. I think someone here needs to post a GTR version of that video LOL. (Especially the haters)
  14. LOL woman advertisers nobody takes them seriously when there are no boobs too stare at.
  15. How do we actually know it's the same strength? What constitutes it as the same?
  16. Anyone know how to combat / remove rust?
  17. Niceee! I'm guessing you guys competed last year / this year? Our kart got stolen so we are starting from scratch We are in a massive disadvantage with fundings, how did you guys get sponsors etc? Our budget is lying around $25k We used the CBR 250 RR engine where as other unis (eg. Monash) were using CBR 600 RR engines lol... (40hp compared to 80hp).
  18. Heh, we are still in the early planning stage of it so no pics or videos as of yet Also good to see some people or some people who know other people who are doing it lol. Not an easy task as there are more than 100 pages dedicated to rules of entering, and strict inspections.
  19. Hey guys, anyone else joined a FSAE team somewhere? I'm part of the Victoria University one. My role is engine/drivetrain development, and there is a slaughterfest for driver later at a karting place which I will be competing in (so any tips are welcome lol). Just want to open some discussions For those who don't know what it is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formula_SAE
  20. Well actually this topic hasn't been covered yet. Also theoretically it's not just top speed, it is accelerative capacity as well. Example: Car A that has Cd of .5 will start exponentially slowing down from 140km/h and top out by 200km/h compared to Car B with 0.3 Cd which will probably start from 160km/h and top out by 220km/h or so (both example figures) assuming same everything except Cd so basically Car B achieved what Car A could do at the same amount of time but higher in acceleration and speed. Also i believe drag makes a smoother and easier ride
  21. Hey guys, tried searching but there is not much specific info on what I'm looking for. I have never got the diff oil changed in my Skyline since purchase and it seems to be a while, so I am looking to change it in the next day or 2. Just got a few questions and it would be nice if you guys could even just answer 1 of them: Do all R32 GTS-Ts have a viscous LSD? If so would i need a special LSD type of oil in there? What viscosity should i use? What is the change interval in kms or days that i have to change the diff oil?
  22. EDIT: Nevermind, saw in other thread Z32 (300ZX) has same brakes as turbo R32s.
  23. ^^^ I feel your pains through experience myself OP is probably too embarassed to reply back.
