Theres a switch on the clutch pedal on our '90 Suzuki Sierra too, not hooked up either.
The two connection points coming out of it look more mechanical than electrical.

I've had it for a while too, but I can't figure out how to use the gears and brake (With a crappy 2button 2axis joystick) I can only steer and turn.

Sometimes regular fuel can make the car ping.
It shouldn't be too bad running your car on regular (I'm sure alot of people do) Just fill up the tank with premium every once in a while just to be safe
I would recommend the Apexi Power Intake. A test was done using top brand filters and the Apexi came out up top both in horsepower increase AND dirt filtration
