Drove behind a bayside blue R34 from Queanbeyan to Jerra the other day. If you're on here... you drive like a twit.

Spotted a white R33 S1 with a bodykit on Canberra Avenue heading towards Fyshwick, I was a passenger in the black 33 with L plates on it.

Dynamat Alternative. What's Out There...
r33skylinegtst replied to KrazyKong's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
I get your point about Dynamat being expensive but it's darn good stuff and you can buy it in smaller 'kits' depending what you want to do, so you can do it in stages. I got mine pretty cheap online from Ryda car audio. One of the door kits is plenty to do both doors on an R33, while the boot kit was enough to do the whole boot (but not the boot lid). Food for thought perhaps? I've noticed a big difference since installing it, highly recommended. Do it right the first time and you don't have to worry about it later. -

Post A Random Pic Of Your Skyline

I see your photo sir, and raise you this one. OOoooh yeah. -
At the last service my mechanic advised me that I have excess play in the RH inner Hicas rod and LH outer hicas rod. Since I want to keep the Hicas system I have managed to track down a set of what I assume to be the inner rods which look basically the same as these (though not identical) and now I'm trying to locate an outer set. Any idea what the part number would be, or better yet anyone locally who supplies them? I'm guessing my local Nissan dealer should be able to supply them too?

Might be an obvious one but check both sides of the fuse, I blew my headdeck one and stupid me tested the wrong side of the fuse with the multimeter, took a while to work out what I'd done wrong.

Saw a charcoal grey R32 GTS-t at the RTA carpark in Queanbeyan today (that carpark is designed to break cars i swear) female driver, looked pretty stock save for the exhaust. If the owner is on here i was parked next to you in the white 260Z.

Spotted a yellow R34 parked in Woden, nice looking car, and a black R32 on the main drag near McDonalds, looked like it had a body kit in primer on it?
-
Spotted an R32 last week with a big '32' on the door. Subtle The owner gave me a wave and I'm pretty sure they're on here so... hi.

I'm chasing a pair of head rests for an R33 S2, not after the whole seats. PM me if you can help. Cheers.

Fs Auto Meter Cobalt 52mm Boost Gauge
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Yep, this one reads to 30psi - same model as in the pic. -
Thought i'd try selling this here first - saves paying postage for anyone who wants it. I have for sale a 52mm Auto Meter Cobalt boost gauge, link here http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugedetail.a...=3442&sid=4 It's brand new, has been opened but hasn't been installed in the car - so it includes everything needed to install it. Selling it for two reasons - the LED lights up blue which doesn't suit my car. It's an internal LED so it can't be replaced - didn't realise that till after i bought it and also it's a bit too deep to fit nicely in my Greddy pillar mounted gauge holder. Asking $125 for it, paid $135 new for it. PM me if you are interested.

Dumped Midnight Purple R33 Gtr
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Just a quick update, as of yesterday arvo the car is no longer there. Not sure whether it was moved/towed/stolen who knows but either way, it's gone. -
I checked the site out, so far as i can see the data for maps looks pretty old. 2005? Also looks like it may only have maps for the US which seems to be a consistant problem from the apps i've looked into.

Dumped Midnight Purple R33 Gtr
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Haven't had anyone PM yet so i assume it's no-one on here - car is still sitting there though. I can't think of a single reason why anyone would leave a car like that there. I'm surprised it is still in one piece. -
On my way home i drove past a Midnight Purple R33 GTR that appears to have been dumped, won't name a location but it's in the surrounding Queanbeyan region. There are no plates on the car, looks intact and looked after though. Flashing blue neon light inside and 5 spoke chrome rims. I've reported the car to crime stoppers, but i thought i might post something here just in case. PM me if this relates to you.

Suprisingly, no. And i say that because i live on a property that has a 5km dirt road that i have to travel across every day. It gets very rough at times and still no issues. The carPC has only been in about 2 weeks, but the PS2 has been in there for a good 3 or more months and it's still going strong. Whilst i like the appeal of solid state drives, i figured it wasn't worth the increased cost and decreased capacity. I don't keep anything too important on my CarPC so if the hard drive did faill, it'd be more of an inconvenience than anything. I have bought a little GPS reciever that sits on the parcel shelf but i don't have any software for it. What do other people here use? Preferrably i'd like something that doesnt require internet access as besides a wireless card to connect to the network at home to transfer files etc across, there is no internet connectivity in my system and no plans for it either (hard to justify a monthly fee for something i'll almost never use).

I've just finished installing a full car PC system in my car, can post pics up for those interested. It consists of: Zotac 9300itx Wi-Fi board Celeron 440 Single core @ 2ghz 4gb Kingston DDR2 800mhz RAM 320gb Western Digital 7200RPM HD Mo-Co-So mini-Itx case with PCI slot Slot load Panasonic DVD burner mounted under the passenger seat 4 Port USB hub in the glovebox GPS reciever Xenarc 700IDT 7" in dash screen Currently running Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I have it running through the aux input on a JVC KD-DV9406 DVD head deck Aftermarket front and rear speakers (the rears run off a seperate amp) 800W Class D amp running 2 x 12" Alpine Type R's As well as a 300W inverter running a modified Playstation 2 that can boot games from it's 160gb harddrive just for good measure. All in all it's a pretty fully featured system. And complete overkill.

Failed Break-in Attempt
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Didn't see any P plates on it. It's funny, i know the first thing you have to do in that situation is get the number plates but when i saw what was happening i sprinted for my car and there was not much thought involved. I seriously doubt that if that was their own car that they wouldn't at least have stolen plates on it, but if they are stupid enough to be driving around in their own car with their own plates then i hope like hell the idiots get caught. Glad to hear that at least people are keeping their eyes out, you can't be too careful. I still have no idea whether they were already trolling the car park looking for cars to break into, or if perhaps they saw me on the road, followed me in and waited for me to leave. -
Failed Break-in Attempt
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in Australian Capital Territory
You'd definately need some way to turn it on/off at will, the number of times people working on my car have set the alarm off...well you wouldn't want to eletrocute them in the process!! Was it the same car? White N14 Nissan Pulsar SSS? Loud exhaust? -
Failed Break-in Attempt
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in Australian Capital Territory
That's quite a good idea. Not so much for this instance as that was the first time i'd been to Erindale in... at least 6 months, but this is the second break-in attempt in around 2 months and the other happened at a car park at work where numerous cars have been broken into before. Reporting it to the police never seemed to get any real results, spotted them doing a patrol of the car park once shortly after but that was it. I feel for you mate, it sucks having to foot the bill for something someone did to your car but i guess you have to be happy they didn't get anything. It pisses me off how brazen these theives are getting, my mate had his car stolen a little while ago, an S13 silvia with custom orange/black paint. Was stolen from a busy car park in broad daylight before being thrashed and trashed. Ended up getting written off by his insurer. Becuase it was someone under 18 i very much doubt he will get anything more severe than a slap on the wrist and a few hours of community service. Too bad this is the second car he has stolen and he is clearly on his way to becoming a model citizen. -
Failed Break-in Attempt
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in Australian Capital Territory
I would think if the police were serious about wanting to catch those responsible they would have asked to check the door handles etc for fingerprints since no doubt their set would be on the top. But then i am no forensic investigator so i may be well off the mark there. a20089 raises some valid points, this time around the would be car thief ran like the coward he was, but not everyone who tries to steal cars has testicles the size of peanuts so if they pulled a knife or even a gun... well the idea wouldn't go down to well. -
I had a failed break-in attempt on my car tonight around 7:55pm, parked at Erindale Woolworths car park. Was walking back to my car when i heard the alarm go off, i sprinted across the carpark to find a white 4-door N14 Nissan Pulsar SSS pulled up next to my car, drivers door had been broken open which had triggered the alarm. The coward jumped in his car and floored it going past the front of the shops in the direction of the servo (sounded like a non-turbo, guessing aftermarket exhaust as it was pretty loud) not sure where he went from there. Luckily nothing was stolen from the car but it had been parked there literally 5 minutes so they must have been prowling the car park prior. I didn't catch the plates (adrenaline took over, i wanted to catch them in the act and beat the sh!t out of them) but chances are they were stolen anyway, if not the whole car. Anyways, if you live in the area may pay to keep an eye out just incase. I have reported the matter to the police who will keep an eye out for the car, if anyone knows anything about this please PM. Amazing how all the people around were suddenly invisible, only 2 people came over afterwards to check out what had happened and my thanks go to them.

Decent And Honest Panel Beaters In Canberra
r33skylinegtst replied to garantsarajlija's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Thought it might be worth adding a reply even though your car was fixed, just to give feedback on another repairer in Canberra incase anyone goes seraching. Recently had my gf's Celica repaired at a place called Hall Brothers in Fyshwick. Fixed some front quarter damage and a scratch on the bonnet caused by a Kangaroo KO'ing itself on the side of her car. Whilst it was there they also touched up her wing. It was insurance work (save the wing) but it came out really nice. She has one of those metallic blue colours which are apparently hard to match but you couldn't tell it's been repaired. I was so impressed with their work i took my 260Z to them, which had damage to the rear quarter (clipped a tree avoiding a 'roo decided to fix it out of my pocket rather than claim through insurance) they did a fantastic job and i would definately recommend them.
