  1. LOL, believe me i'm not rushing. Won't be able to drive the car till late November of this year anyways, so i'm taking my time and trying to find out what's on offer. I like the looks of that SII for 22,500 up there, might have a look on the forums for other 'lines nearby. I don't really want to go much further than Sydney to get the car...
  2. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, it has to have about 55k on it...and no more than 70k... my parents figure if it's anymore than that things will start needing to be replaced.
  3. that's really quite sad... that guy has WWWWAAAAAYYYYY to much spare time on his hands....
  4. Yeah, Brian Hall is ok...but again the problem of prices. They had a burgandy R33 93' GTS-T manual for about $23k which was kinda steep...i think they've sold it now tho? Links below... R33 GTS-T Still, i've talked to the guy who works there, Roy Smith...excellent service from him. Knew he wasn't going to get a sale off us but was quite happy to have a chat with us.
  5. I don't mean to be rude Mines_Datsun, but how did you talk your parents into buying you a GT-R after you totalled your last car? You went from an ex-police car (i think) to an even higher performance vehicle... how did your parents react when you told them you'd crashed it?
  6. EVO...where to start with them...when i went there that place reeked of dodginess and the cars all seemed HUGELY overpriced...plus a friend of mines brother took his car there for some work on it and ended up having to take it elsewhere to fix the problems they'd created. I tend to avoid that place now... Sounds like you have some interesting stories from the car yards too, lol. Ah well, i looked over Saturdays canberra times...not a lot on offer. Theres a Holden Barina in there that my parents are trying to sell...no luck yet
  7. I'd be thankful for thier jokes, its taken away from most of the flaming posts. Anyways, you were the one who posted pictures of your smashed up car almost like it was some sort of accomplishment.
  8. My dad is going along to all the car yards with me so far, he's 53 and has had HEAPS of cars in his life, and a pretty spotless driving history. He knows what to look for in that reagrd, but has had no experience with Japanese performance cars which is a bit of a problem. I didn't think the price was too bad compared to the other cars i've seen in Canberra so far, which probably shows that it's not the best area for me to get a Skyline in...
  9. Sorry mate, i've got sympathy for the GT-R, but not much for you. You should just consider yourself lucky that you a) didn't injure anyone else and B) didnt injure yourself. Like others said, a few more K's on the speedo and that pole would have taken the car AND you out. A car like a GTR demands respect, and while i know we all make mistakes, you really need to learn from them or else there isn't much point in having them. Good luck in the future, i hope you learn from this.
  10. Im a bit fonder of the 33GTS-t's over the 34 GT-Ts, while both are nice cars, my preference is the 33 all the way. Insurance is around $4k a year comprehensive, which isn't too bad all things considered, and i should be able to afford it, according to my working out so far (also taking into account rego, petrol etc...) The car had an air filter, after market exhaust and blow off valve. Nothing to serious, and i don't intend to put anything else onto the car as far as performance goes (seriously, the stock GTS-T will already be PLENTY fast enough for me) Private sales are kinda a bit dodgy from my parents point of view... mainly cause there's no warranty whatsoever etc..and since their the ones with the cash it really all comes down to them. If i went out to buy that car though, i'd DEFINATELY negotiate on the price. Anyways, thanks for all the responces so far.
  11. I cant argue with you there, and i've already had quotes on insurance and everything like that, its not going to be cheap but its something thats actually got me motivated at the moment (cause after my parents pay for the car any other costs i pay myself). I'll admit its not practical, but its pretty much a now or never thing, and if i get a few dings in it, then that will be my own bad luck. Still, i've talked to a few people who've owned cars similar to this (turbo silvias, 180s, a few 33s) and canberra seems like a much easier place to own one than say, Sydney... no way would i want to drive around there... anyways, thanks for the advice but if anyone could shed some light on my eariler questions that'd be great. thanks!
  12. Thanks, definately something to think about... i'm looking in the $18k-$20k price range, and a bit above if needed. The said car was $22990 negotiable with a 3 year warranty on all major components, which sounded damn good. I will check out importing though, cause i'm not going to be able to drive the car till November anyway so a 4 month wait is no biggy. Still, i'm only 17 and this will be my first car so all this seems a bit daunting at first... :Paranoid:
  13. I'm looking to buy an R33GTS-t sometime this year, and have been scouting out the local import shops. I live in Canberra, and was wondering if anyone has heard anything about a place named 'Fast and Furious Imports' and if anyone has dealt with them at all? If so, what sort of service do they give in regard to their car sales? Also, they had a car on the lot which i was pretty taken with, a 94' 33 GTS-t (manual) but i noticed that the stereo was missing, and i'm pretty sure so was the air con control panel above it. I asked the guy working there about the stereo and he said that when these cars arrive in Australia often the stereos get stolen from them. Is this true? Or does this sound a bit dodgy? Lastly, what are some of the things that i should look for on a second hand '33? As in, what are some of the things i can look at to check the condition of the car? Sorry if this sounds a bit dumb, i just needed some answers. Thanks in advance!
  14. PLYNX> Could it have been the new Maxima? I saw one in the paper (pretty sure it was a Maxima) and had to do a double take, looked just like that V35 350GT from the front.
  15. I'd have to say 33 GTR. Like 'Driver' said, you got the same chance of a GT-T being stolen or keyed or whatever as you do with the GTR. A lot of those dicks who key cars wouldnt know the diff between a GTR and a GTT anyways... hell, someone keyed my mums lancer. Its not going to make much of a difference. However, you may want to take into account things like insurance and running costs before making the decision.
  16. It doesn`t matter if more Yanks are going to buy a V8 GT-R than a V6 Turbo one you said that, so i thought you meant the V35 is a V8 as well as a V6 model, which was the impression i got from one news site. Oh well, it's late, forgive my dumb posts.
  17. well, that makes sense...wait... no it doesn't! lol. Maybe cause the engine is a V6/8 and not an inline...
  18. Why a V and not an R, i never got that. and then there's like the G35 or something...bit confusing for me cause i don't really follow the new Nissans as much as i did the *older* (like, up to r34) ones.
  19. Don't you think that by making the new R35 a 'world car' that it will lost a lot of the status that the current R32's, 33's and 34's have? I mean, if they are released all around the world they lose some of that 'exclusitivity' and IMO that takes away from the car as a whole. Maybe it's just me, but still regardless of that, the R35 as a whole just doesn't appeal to me... the R32's-34's all built on each others designs whereas the new one just seems like a completely new design sharing only the taillights...
  20. yeah, i can relate. Lot of these newish 'futuristic' cars look like the lame crap seen in sci-fi movies from the 80's, lol.
  21. Cool! A fellow Canberran! Pleased to meet you! I live in Conder... Kingston and Phillip are pretty far away from here if i just want petrol What about Chisholm BP, do they have it? As for a turbo, i personally would like one, but $800 a year makes a big difference when you're only on a K-Mart salary (im hoping to get a cadetship with a gov. department, but the first year you only get paid $16k so supporting a car on that AND having a social life will be tough going.) And besides all that, i don't actually smoke, and don't ever really buy food. About 90% of my income at the moment goes straight into my account for the Skyline...
  22. Lol, thanks a lot for the replies... Not sure if it says it on my profile but I live in Canberra, and if this wasn't mentioned earlier i'm looking to buy a GTS not a turbo cause the turbo will cost me around $800 a year more to insure... not good! Anyways, i don't get this car till the 25h November NEXT YEAR but as they say, good things come to those who wait, so i'm waiting...
  23. Thanks for all the replies! premium doesn't sound too much more expensive than regular stuff... anyways, thanks again!
  24. I went on to the BP site, and read some stuff about ultimate and then the premium unleaded. Which is cheaper? Im guessing premium, and would this be bad for my car or would it do? Sorry to keep asking questions, it just really need to know. Here's the site; http://www.bp.com.au/products/petrol/premi...d.asp?menuid=ed Oh roughly how much more does it cost per litre compared to regular stuff? Thanks.
