Fibre Glass And Carbon Fibre Bonnets
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Thought i'd send Blits an e-mail and try to get some clarification, they sent this info back Has anyone had any luck getting an engineers certificate for an aftermarket bonnet? Seems like this would probably be the best option if it's possible. -
Fibre Glass And Carbon Fibre Bonnets
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Thanks mate, that's exactly what i'm after, some real experience. As for Blits, how can they be claiming to have ADR approval if they don't? From what i've gathered from their site they claim to have some sort of general approval but no ADR number. I'm really not clear on what all this means, hence why i'm asking here. -

SOLD! -
I'm looking to replace my bonnet in the future and leaning towards some of the bonnets from Unique Autosports, either fibre glass, or fibreglass with a carbon fibre wrap. I'm aware that if i just bolt it straight on, i run the risk of being defected - fair enough. What i'd like to know before going ahead and purchasing one, has anyone gone to the trouble of getting a bonnet such as these engineered? I've done some searching on the forums but i can't find much, so if anyone on here has had any experience, particularly in NSW i would be interested to hear it.

Spotted a white 180SX last night at the traffic lights near DFO getting ripped by a Honda CRV. Wasn't like the 180SX wasn't trying, there was a lot of noise but not much movement!

I spotted that car too i think, only it was on Saturday. Burra Road is a pretty out of the way place, you live around there?

Have you tried contacting Sparco directly? I had a similar issue with my Koya rims, the centre cap on one rim lost the top cap thing and the logo started to fade. E-mailed Koya and they sent me a set of four by express post at no charge. Worth a try!

Leaking Boot - Help!
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Think i narrowed it down to the drivers side taillight, smallest little gap there is letting water in. Good thing i got onto it now, had some very minor surface rust that i have now treated. Might be an idea for everyone on here to check from time to time. Were i not fiddling with the battery i probably wouldn't have noticed it till it was much worse. -
Leaking Boot - Help!
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in Australian Capital Territory
That wouldn't look suss at all, forcing a child into my boot and driving through a carwash... Thanks for the tips mate, i found quite a detailed tutorial here as well so i'll give that a shot and hope it solves my problem. -
I went to do some work in the boot of my car and discovered a nice puddle of water sitting in the spare wheel well. I have no idea where the water came in, the top seals look to be in perfect condition so i'm a little bit stumped. Any recommendations where i can take it to get this fixed? Or better yet, anyone had a similar issue who may know the problem? I can't see any condensation in the taillights so i'm assuming the leak is not coming from there.

Must have been a different car then, the one on eBay was a private seller. If i remeber correctly the car had been featured in a copy of High Performance Imports in a Skyline vs Supra article, but it was pretty much stock. Can't be too many LM's floating around Australia though that's why i just assumed it was the same one. Regardless, that is one very nice car!

Wtb R33 - Cable From Fuse Box To Battery
r33skylinegtst replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in Wanted to Buy
Managed to locate one, thanks to everyone who PM'd me, really appreciate the quick replies i've had! -
Bit of a strange one, i'm chasing the cable that goes from the fuse box located in the boot of an R33, to the battery. It's black with the lettering EB40 down the side. If anyone has one to sell would be a huge help, needed ASAP so let me know.

JD R33, is your LM the one that was recently for sale on eBay? Bloody hell, that thing had me drooling on the keyboard. Nice car!!

Doing better than me Gus, one of my work mates came up to abuse me because a black skyline had flown past her on her way home and she had assumed it was me!

Really need this thing out of the driveway, dropped to $20,000 negotiable. Pm me and make an offer if you're interested! -
Spotted Bluprint i think along the Tuggeranong parkway yesterday going towards tuggers.
-
Yep, bolted it all back together last night and took it for a drive this morning, the issue seems to have cleared and maybe it's just me, but feels like it's running much smoother (but that could just be because i've been driving a sluggish '85 Patrol all week) Thanks to the above posters who gave me their input, much appreciated!

Thanks for the info mate, i pulled the AFM off this afternoon and i'll be cleaning it out tomorrow then seeing if that fixes my problem. New spark plugs and splitfires have just gone in as well.
-
Spotted a Series 1 R33 in Qbyn yesterday around 4.30, it was green (the factory colour, dont see that often) with a carbon fibre bonnet. I was in an old Patrol so i didn't wave. also a silver R33 with big FMIC in Karabar up near the traffic lights about the same time.

Not sure that my problem lies with the wiring, i've checked as much of it as i can get to and it looks to be fine. I'm thinking it's spark plug/coil pack related. I've removed the coils and have a set of splitfires in the mail from Sliding Performance, plus replacing the spark plugs with NGK PFR6G's, which are pre-gapped at 0.8mm. Will install them once the coils arrive and let you know if this solved my problem.

Jake, I found these tutorials on removing and repairing coil packs, i'm going to try this out when i have some time maybe you'll find them helpful too, seems they apply to the Series 2 RB25, but it may still be similar? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/RB...ark-t42819.html http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Fi...em-t119403.html

I have had issues lately with the headlights dimming when clutching on gear changes, and the battery went flat after not being driven for 3 days so i took it to an auto electrician but they said the alternator was fine and the battery wasn't charging properly (Oddysee dry cell, just over 18 months old). I havent replaced it yet but it's been doing that for about 1-2 months and besides the above two issues, it's been fine (and that will be replaced soon anyway). Could that be the issue? It seems weird that it would drive fine after turning off the engine for 5 minutes though if that was the case? Thanks for the reply too mate.

I was driving home yesterday and all of a sudden the car stopped accelerating, then it would kick in again and drop out... Best thing i can relate it to is when you're almost out of petrol, only it was worse than that. Like when you drop the clutch taking off and it bunny hops up the road. It wasn't happening at any particular revs, and it was happening both on and off boost. It got so bad that i had to pull over. I turned the engine off and after about 5 minutes i started driving again and it drove fine for around 2 minutes, then it started again. Had to keep stopping and starting the whole way home. Not sure what the issue is, its got over half a tank of fuel and it's been fine up until now, and i haven't made any recent changes to the car. It's a Series 2 R33, power FC, running about 13psi. I've done some searching and people with similar problems have mentioned the coilpacks being an issue, mine are still the stock units so could this be a possibility? Thanks in advance for any help!

Had a 4 door 33 park next to me at DFO on wednesday, Trojan sticker on the boot. Not sure if it was anyone on here, think i passed the owner on the way back to my car though.
