It's a US compiled list obviously - The Infiniti G35 on there = the V35 Skyline (US release). Not a lot of earlier Skylines ever imported (bar a few GTRs) to the US as they are RHD.
-
Exactly. And with their terrible depreciation they'll be worth $20k in 5 years and an absolute bargain family car with some fun for Daddy. :-P

Agreed vs the HSV / Ford V8s - no chance - but the 'problem' with the XR6Ts is they do 5.1s 0-100 stock and anyone with the same mindset as us is going to do boost / tune / exhaust and then they can make big power - so be more of a match for a well set up mid-high (270-330rwkw) Skyline IMO. That will be my next car - still fast and room for the kids when they pop out...
-
+250 more like comparable to 2010 HSV / XR6T / FPV. Mate has a brand new VE SS and that thing is not even coming CLOSE to me with 273rwkw... 250+rwkw Skylines can manage mid-low 4s 0-100 times (with traction) but the latest Fords / Holdens are still 1s slower than that. It's true though that in std trim the GTSTs and GTTs are not all that quick - but it doesn't take a whole lot to get them going.

Im in Adelaide and there's only one place you can get E85 from the bowser - apparently with wildly varying results at different times so I was advised against it for safety reasons (as the car is a daily)... Tuner was happy to tune it on E85 out of a drum, or on the bowser E85 "at my risk" but trckons a 50/50 blend will be overall better anyway. See what happens on Monday.
-
Can't remember exactly how much - will find out next Monday but i have the $2 figure in my head...? Not sure where they get it from but i'll ask.
-
Got advised not to run E85 from a bowser by my tuner - he says it's just been way too inconsistent when they've used it in cars - some come up great cause they arte actually getting E85, and others won't take anywhere near the timing. as obviously the fuel has separated or has water in it etc etc. I can't really justify buying a whole drum of E85 for myself, i'll never go through it in time. So I'm going to buy 100% ethanol from my tuner and mix a 50/50 blend when I want. He believes this is enough ethanol to get a lot of benefit with less worry about hoese / fuel pumps / fuel filter etc etc.

Best Turbo To Put On Neo Rb25det

+1 with .82 exhaust housing. Loving my car these days...! -
Torque - Discussion, Physics, Displacement And Ideas
gwilkinson34 replied to paulr33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
So we need a chart that has cc per cylinder vs torque to really compare... -

gwilkinson34 replied to gwilkinson34's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Surely more displacement per cylinder does not equal more torque...? It's a whole system as our 6 cylinders = 1 crank rotation in the same time as the 4 WRX cylinders do...? -
Lol. Guess how lean you are willing to go all depends on turbo / boost / power / $$ for a new engine...

Fair enough. Must say the RB25 NEO I have is around 30rwkw and 50+nm better through the whole range until 5k than a non NEO with the exact same mods / tune (compared at Morpowa) so might have something to do with it... Newer engine in the Rexxy = better technology / flow than an R33. Still surprising in a car that weighs the same and would struggle for 130-140rwkw (stock) vs 190+... Anyone got thoughts on this? -

More pull than your car with 194rwkw? Really? I've driven an (05 i think?) WRX with a big cooler, exhaust, intake etc (standard boost) and i didn't think it was any quicker than my 34 when it had 185rwkw... It did have a more 'torquey' feel though, less revvy... I have always liked WRXs - they sound awesome and handle a shitload better than skylines - but they are everywhere and I think the 34 just has 'something' that the WRX doesn't somehow... -

Of course - but that's gonna cost you $30k more... -

EDIT: I have no idea what was done to the GTR I went up against, it certainly had a damn loud exhaust and some gauges - otherwise obviously no idea. -

Yes but the GTT as it is owes me less than a good condition stock GTR would - so if you're talking bang for buck then it's not harsh at all, it's very realistic. -
I believe there is a point - wideband's most basic use is to simply monitor AFRs to make sure nothing is out of whack. It will also plug into my ECU and I can set up out of range shut down in case anything goes wrong with an injector etc etc. I will be learning / playing with the tune once I have the wideband - but I'm certainly not at the stage where I could tune from PULP to 50/50 ethanol myself. After a few hours watching on they dyno i'll be much more confident and then have a PULP and a 50/50 ethanol tune to play around with and see if i can fine tune on the road. Pretty much just another toy to play with...

After. Was pretty happy about it too Yeah i know the potential... but it's also a heavier car... In case anyone is about to flame me - i'm not for a moment suggesting that a GTT is in any way as good as a GTR - it's just a cost / practicality analysis I had to go through when i was considering selling the GTT and getting one. I was leaning the GTRs way for a long time, and got so close to doing it. But now in hindsight with the 3076r on the GTT for much less outlay and having driven a GTR i'm glad I didn't fork out the cash. The one thing I WILL miss is the traction...! (although RWD is more fun 90% of the time) -
Injector Size For 300kw?
gwilkinson34 replied to lookingforboost's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
It's fairly simple. Don't get the size that's just big enough for your power level, because once you are there, you'll want more. Guaranteed. Go at least 740cc so you can run 50/50 ethanol or E85 (if it ever gets consistent out of the bowser). If you tune it right there's no harm in running bigger injectors, very little cost difference, and way more headroom for more power down the track. Do it once, do it right. -
...but you'd need a wideband 02 sensor input into the ecu for it to know what AFRs it was actually running wouldn't you? Or am i not thinking about this correctly? Thinking i should get the Haltech wideband either way though. Getting the car tuned on a 50/50 ethanol blend next week so i'll have a chat with the tuner when it's on the rollers.

I know the QUOTED figures the GTR is faster 4.9 vs 5.2 i believe? - but saw it on some Jap car comparison video... stock for stock the ugly bug eyed STi was quicker. Remember the GTRs are now 10 years old... Trust me, i don't WANT to believe it, i'm a GTR fan though and through, but after driving one, and having a bit of a squirt next to one in my GTT (which i left behind fairly easily from a 40kmh roll on in 2nd - good feeling hehe) i'm a bit disappointed in their STOCK performance. Obviously as stated in the thread we wouldn't be leaving it stock if we owned one, but then it starts to get pricey... It was really just working out for myself whether $25-30k more than what i've spent on my car was worth it I suppose... (which i eventually decided wasn't, and am pretty glad i made that decision - never thought i'd say that to be honest!) -
Few Questions Regarding Upcoming Mods
gwilkinson34 replied to Trozzle's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I ordered my turbo directly from Garrett and got an IW housing with port shrouding that bolted straight up to both manifold and dump pipe... (as far as i'm aware...) -
Yeah I had a quick look for it last night... perhaps I didn't have the correct views open. Have another look today and log my drive down to get a haircut hehe.

I can't for the life of me work out how to check the injector duty cycle in the Haltech software. The injectors should be wired up to an analogue voltage input shouldn't they? Can't seem to find it. Anyone know anything about how to check this?
