  1. Purchased 6/11/11 from JB Hi-Fi for $2200. Runs Windows 7. See photo 20140204_094755 for genuine windows 7 sticker. Comes with all manuals, power supply and ethernet adaptor cable. Not needed anymore as I've bought an even smaller EEE PC which better suits my requirements. I used the Samsung for a support contract I had at the time. Comes in the original packaging which is soiled from being stored in the shed while the computer was in my backpack in the house. One problem I had with it was on delivery the screen did not work. Returned for warranty repairs - it was a loose cable where it goes through the hinge. It's been fine since. $1200. Contact details - russel at exemail dot com dot au or 0 4 2 5 2 3 1 9 6 6 or via PM here.
  2. I last went to the gym in mid 1995 when I used to do bench press, chin ups and squats. I've always had weak shoulders, esp the left one after an AC dislocation at aged 12 falling of a horse. I could only press 100kg. The squats used be in the chair machine that had your legs at 45 degrees. I was able to push nearly 280kg and get my knees to my chest. I used all the weights from the vertical squating area that it disrupted many workouts. I joined the group and was doing 200kg squats. I was a field hockey goal keeper and it improved my speed off the mark. I was a vegetarian. I was 92kg at the time and put on 6kg during the 3 mths in the gym. Then I got the flu just before going overseas and that put paid to the gym work. Nowadays I just do manual work around the garden and chopping wood to enhance the muscles. I also use a large yoga ball and squat using an internal door and hold the plank position for 3 minutes using the core muscles. Now I'm about 95kg and no longer a vegetarian.
  3. Terry, My understanding is.... 1) jet lag is more prevalent when travelling east. 2) No, it's caused by the body's inability to advance it's circadian rhythms to cope and it's easier to delay them when travelling east to west, and the necessary exposure to light to realign the body clock does not tie in with the day/night cycle at the destination. 3) No, due again to the circadian rhythms. Most jet lag can be overcome by adjusting your circadian rhythms, ala your internal clock, by beginning up to 3 days before flying W->E to the time zone you are intending to stay in.

    Focus

Simply avoid the caffiene...it has too many long term affects. Take time out to relax...remember Achimedes discovered about weight by immersing himself in his bath. Volume has a relationship to weight and the water displacement was the perfect way, but I digress. Try taking some known herbs that can benefit memory. For instance, gotu kola has been used as a medicine for thousands of years in India and China for improving mental function amongst other things. Another is mate - Yerba mate is a central nervous system stimulant containing caffeine, but it also contains a number of other nutrients, including antioxidants, amino acids, polyphenols, vitamins and minerals. Yerba mate is touted as being a safe and effective nervous system stimulant with few side effects and many health benefits. One of the health benefits is it enhances your ability to focus. Researchers have found that the minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, animo acids and polphenols found in the beverage have a balancing effect on the caffeine it contains. Users report increased mental energy, clarity and focus, but they also say that yerba mate doesn't cause any of the uncomfortable side effects associated with drinking caffeinated beverages, such as headaches, stomach aches and jitters. I work in front of a computer each day programming and found it to be of benefit. Here's a link for more info about improving your ability to focus. http://www.lifehack.org/articles/lifestyle/6-brain-boosting-herbs-to-improve-your-productivity.html Also get some fresh air and take some time away from distractions in your life as well. Hope these help!
  5. My 2c worth.... One thing to consider is the possibility that stress or diet may be causing the disturbed sleep. Hypothyroidism is a common cause. Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) can be high and conversion of T4 to T3 maybe hindered. You need a good practitioner (GP or alternately a herbalist) to be able to make a good diagnosis by way of blood tests checking for cortisol, lipids, blood glucose, cholosterol (HDL, LDL, triglycerides), TSH, free T4, free T3, reverse T3, Thyroxine binding globulin (TBG) and an enzyme called thyroid peroxidase (TPO). Generally, high levels of cortisol in the system can interfere with the conversion of T4 to T3 in the gut. A lot of factors are involved and it seems GPs will wanted to prescribe hormone replacement therapy mostly T4 without investigating and fixing the underlying condition. You need to be the master of your health and well being. Good place to check out is www.chriskresser.com for some good research into thyroid problems and health issues in general. There is also much more out there so let google be your friend. BTW, meditation is good for reducing stress as is doing yoga or tai chi. They help reduce cortisol levels. Hope this helps!!!
  6. During high school when I first shaved, I had some bad acne on one side of the face. My local GP suggested using an electric razor to leave a little stubble and thus eliminate the risk of infection from breaking the pimples. It lasted one year then I let it grow until the end of uni (along with the long hair, I looked like Cat Stevens). After getting through my first interview and starting work I let the beard and hair grow again. Over 15 years later I started shaving again. I used all manner of razors but having travelled extensively in India and having shaves each week, I came to appreciate the straight razor. However, the first time I tried i cut myself near my ear severely so I moved on to a Merkur Heavy Duty Double Razor after using my Dad's one. I've never looked back. The secret to a good shave is very hot water over the area to really soften the skin, that's why most blokes shave while having a shower. Then a good shaving cream applied with a good badger hair brush or shaving oil (I have used Valetudo) and very hot water for the razor to clean between strokes. Then after a quick pat dry with a towel, I use a himalayan salt block to run over the shaved area, a trick picked up from the Indian/Nepalese barbers, as the salt acts as an antiseptic, then another quick pat with a towel. I apply a herbal after shaving cream my wife prepared (she's studying herbalism) or I use water soluble tea tree oil sparingly. A good tip from my grandfather was to sharpen the shaving blade by running it around the inside of a glass. Just like the barbers use a leather strop for their cut throats. The best way to use a straight razor/cut throat is to practice on a balloon. The technique is perfected when you can shave without bursting the balloon. They teach this technique in a hairdressing/barber apprenticeship.
  7. I did Ian Luff's driving course at Oran Park in 1998. Money well spent. It's definitely worth doing a course. Then you can apply it at the texi and learn more about your car. I had a 4 spd manual 4.1L TE Cortina at the time and it was fun on the skid pan putting the car sideways in a controlled manner and then driving an R33 on River Rd at Greenwich in 2002.
  8. I was just going through my records and noticed my membership (12/768) expired June 2013. I never received a renewal notice. Are they sent? So I'll have to pay the joining fee again?
  9. Hey Iain, I'd be keen to do the administration if I'm deemed worthy!!! I sent a PM around 12pm today. Russel
  10. Can you tell me what audio formats are supported by USB and SD slot?
  11. Damn shame Craig!!! Always eager to consume news about your mods to the beast. Thanks for being the rock of Gibraltar for the M35 drivers everywhere. Keep us posted on your new purchase!!
  12. Due to the bushfires threatening us recently, I bought and loaded into the Stagea two rolls of poly pipe - 25m of 25mm and the other 50m of 38mm. Forgot to photograph it as it was hilarious trying to get it in. Yesterday, 175kg of scrap steel to the Norman's in Penrith and the about the same if not more in firewood on the return trip. See attached.
  13. Scott, I'll ask the mechanic who fixed mine whether he installed a new o-ring.
  14. @Scott, the mechanic, owner of Steve's Auto Barn does work on el-president Terry's cars. Terry actually recommended him. I'm impressed with his ability. He even rang a friend to ask advice about the M35 when he wasn't sure. He found the leak when replacing the fuel filter.
  15. My did the same after the AFM was replaced. My local mechanic found the o-ring on the fuel pump was leaking and thus the pressure was down particularly when coming on boost.
  16. Love the camera work Shaz!!! A great effort in such a short time!! Keep it up
  17. Anyway, a great outing with very responsible drivers...including that one who stopped for the echidna. Thanks to Theo for the drive organisaition and Craig for the Trackside arrangement. My appetite has been whetted so I want more!!!!
  18. I had an excellent drive home via Wiseman's Ferry, Windsor and Penrith. No HWYPs for me. Clear blue skies and straight roads. It would have been great having a ferry load of hearses!!!, I mean Stageas crossing the Hawkesbury though. Hang on a minute, not many straight roads out that way....I know now....the car made them straight
  19. I see Iain's new rig in the background!!! Beware!!!!
  20. Craig, Only I am attending - no partner. Please check the PM I sent you to confirm.
  21. Hey Scotty, I've got some time tomorrow so I'll replace the current one to see how it goes!!!
