update: downloaded and updated the software thismorning, successfully updated the firmware and was able to communicate with unit still. the misfire and bad idle problem still remained so had a look at the ignition wiring (which was coming up with errors) and it was out of sequence (1,2,3,4,5,6 instead of 1,5,3,6,2,4). Disconnected the battery and rewired these to the installation instructions and tried starting the car, which did not like it at all! The original sequence was correct even though it was different to the instructions i do not know why! it does say on my ecu that it is a reconditioned one so maybe the ignition wires have changed spots im not sure. Anyway i rewired it back to how it was before and it started fine again, but stil idling bad and misfiring. Ended up giving up and disconected the laptop, turned the car off. Decided to take it for a test drive to see if i'd be able to get it down to the workshop tomorrow and it doesnt seem to be misfiring or idling bad anymore! Dont want to speak to soon tho hopefully it stays good until i get it to the workshop, no idea what would have changed to make it better again!

was going to try that too, except that it already had the latest version of firmware on it when it couldnt communicate, thats why i reloaded an older firmware version back on which allowed it to communicate but screwed the settings i should probably mention this is also because i dont have the cd, had to download the software off the net and apparently they struggle to communicate when the firmware on the emu doesnt match the firmware on the laptop. hence why i tried the older version

ok will give that a shot in the morning. do you know what settings i could try changing to get rid of the misfire? the maps are still as they were before

it has a proper harness if thats what you mean, i didnt install it myself but its been in the car since i bought it over a year ago with no dramas. is there any reason why going back to an older firmware version would stuff up the settings on it?

Hi all, I am having problems with my emanage ultimate. Went to have a dyno tune yesterday and they weren't able to connect to it because they are running windows 7 on their laptops and the emanage requires XP or 98. So i got it home and had a go connecting on an old laptop. Still had problems connecting at first but managed to connect after returning the e-manage to an older firmware version. Now however the car is running like shit, misfiring and struggling to idle correctly. Obviously something has changed with the emanage settings after i changed the firmware version to do this as the car was in top shape coming back from the tuner's. I cant figure out what though as i dont know what the settings used to be and it is pretty much undriveable now! also is there a way to disconnect the emanage easily so i can just run off the stock ecu? at least will be able to get it back to the workshop that way and they can have a look at it. Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks, I had a look today and have noticed that it is very oily underneath where the rocker cover is attached on the exhaust side, could this be a further indication that it is the exhaust manifold gasket or just a bad seal around the rocker cover? Had a quick check of all intake piping and couldnt find any obvious leaks but i will need to do this properly over the weekend and take a good look at the exhaust manifold gasket. no misfire to speak of even at 100% throttle since the splitfires went in though and no excess fuel consumption or blackening of my rear bumper from the exhaust so i am inclined to think its not running excessively rich so not an intake leak from what you are saying?and the cat is under 6 months old high flow so i doubt it is the problem

Yeh they do, and the reading matches my other boost gauge aswel so i dont think its a problem there. Its set to 10psi and it will eventually boost up that far but it takes its time getting there. Been installed for 6 months with no probs. And i know what you mean about the turbo noise a mate of mine has had a few let go on him and its not the same noise at all. This one doesnt sound quite that serious though its sounded like that for almost a year now with no problems. I cant think of why it would run shit, be fixed and run great for two weeks then in one day deteriorate back to how it used to be :S

Hi guys, I have a S1 R33gtst thats recently developed a loss of power problem. About a month ago it developed a misfire so I did a full service and replaced the coilpacks with splitfires as well as the spark plugs and it was driving like new again. Last night however my problems have returned it feels sluggish and struggling to come onto boost. There is no misfire now but it just has no guts. If i try and put my foot down it eventually comes onto boost and can reach redline but it takes a while. Best way to desrcribe it is as I am speeding up from say 2nd to 3rd with the boost on vacuum (ie 25-30% throttle) it sounds like it is on full boost and as i change gears the blow off valve lets go as if i am on full boost. Kinda feels like something is being restricted. I am thinking it may be a leak in my piping or dirty air flow meter but would appreciate any help pinpointing the problem. Havnt seen any smoke out the exhaust so i dont think the turbo has let go, but I should mention that it makes a bit of a rattle when on boost. I am only running 10psi on stock turbo with fmic, avcr boost controller, bosch 040 fuel pump, emanage ultimate ecu. Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi guys, I am having a misfire problem with my series 1 r33 however it is occuring at all rpm ranges, anything more than 25% throttle and even at idle. I hadn't driven it in 7 weeks because i broke my ankle and when i started driving it again it was running absolutely fine for 3 days until last night when i was taking off lightly from a set of lights. I am running fmic, emanage ultimate ecu, avc-r boost controller, 3 inch exhaust, pod filter, bosch 040 fuel pump, stock turbo at 10psi. The spark plugs were replaced 4 months ago, so I am thinking it is possibly coilpacks. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? I don't think it is fuel or ecu related as I have been running the pump and ecu in my car for 6 months with no problems. Any help would be much appreciated. - Sam -
