I DONT USUALY BITE BAK,BUT WEL U GOT ME ON A BAD DAY....... MATE its a free country and last time i checked its freedom of speech so i can say what the f**k i like without sum little fruitypie teling me OH U R WRONG..I was driving in general AND driving imports long b4 u probly were so dont U say IM generalising ...I,and my mates,have been there,dun it and seen ALOT.Defected 17 times in nearly 9 years (of just imports) and probly wil get defected sumtime in the future. I hav driven like a fu**head in my late teens/early 20's,had my car low as shit,loud ass bovs + zorsts,gates,illegal dark tint,loud stereos and alot more and hav been yellowed 4 sum of the dumbest reasons that even the guys in the pits hav just shook their head and laughed and said WHY did u get stickered mate!? - my answer was I must of been driving out of the ord to draw attention from the cops and then BANG..Im not saying every1 is the same but if u drive normal and obey the rules of the road 8 times out of 10 u wil get where ur going without the cops shitin ya or pullin u over..My car as it stands NOW has coilyz down (illegaly) llllow as,blitz bov lllloud and zorst even louder with a screamer and a few more (yellow sticker material) goodies but after picking my car up from a workshop friday arvo,and being followed for 20ks by a squad car then they turned off,then going thru a booze bus and breathalized friday nite (all good not 1 look) and then pulled over on my way home from work today (4 waving at a mate at the lights) and NOT 1 cop out off all of em said f**k all to me even tho i should of got stickered and the only reason i wasnt is was i was driving the limit and not "hooning" or wateva and not out of the ord and i was "behaving" like they want to see.. there is a time and place 4 everything and the streets arent the place to do it..FURTHER MORE my brother was a cop for 15 years up till begining of 2010 and he told me numerous amount of times that IF U DRIVE LIKE A F***HEAD or out of the norm u wil draw unwanted attention by the cops and probly stickered but if u drive "normal' and within limits no mater if ur car is low,loud or dark tinted 8 times outa 10 u WIL B ALRIGHT........THATS MY 2 CENTS ANYWAY....im sure u hav urz so feel free to debate even tho thats off the topic just like my post ...............

I could rant and rave on and tell my story for driving imports,the last 8 or so years,and the cop stories bla bla bla and winje winje but im not gona..moral of the story is - driving like a holden/ford/f*kin pole smoker will attract the po po's but driving normally and no excessive loud-ass bov noises etc will never see you pulled over...

my 32 doesnt have the handbrake wired up and works just fine,tho my 180 did and i think that is a safer way to set it up

the only reason we made it to the world cup is bkoz of our region and the teams we went against to get there,we only played off against half decent teams to get in...if we had quality opposition we would of been knocked out a lllllong time ago...im a proud ozi but fu** do we suck at soccer and the 3 or so decent players we do have cant win games by themselvz..we should stick to the international sports we are good at like cricket n rugby etc..annnnywayz good luck to em

At the end of day mate it is personal preference and or budget.Ive been thru 3 dif big name brands over the years.I had a cusco 1.5way (tight as) in my old 180 when i got it then when that went i put in a nismo 2way i got 4 a gr8 price and that was fine and not much noisier at all then the cusco (when u go in2 shop,carparks etc u just clutch it if u dnt want attention an the associated noise frm lsds).I now have a kaaz 2way in my 32 and its fine and doesnt really clunk or make that much noise,tho i have heard of sum lsds 1st hand that sound farked but dunno wat they r..if u keep the maintenence up on em n oil etc they can last a long time..

Yeh i did think of a RB30 but Nah,and the 25det is too original mate and same as the rb30 tooo costly..i like the rb20 and while there is alot of ppl giving it shit bowt the lack of torque and flow and saying its a shit engine id rather stick with it (worse case scenario is a replacement 20 at only half the cost of a 25,if that).All engines and RBs for that fact have their problems,but i have heard alot more problems with the 25dets then the 20dets.After thinking what i should do im just going ahead and fixing the valve stem seals and whilst doing that im dropin in a nice new thick head gasket and giving it a thorough clean and in a few months dumping in a td06 with gate.I was gona do something difrent an do a rb 22 or 24 job but after doin all the math its just not a financially smart thing to do,plus ive heard of rb20s with no internal workings cracking 250-270rwkw+ mark on just a good turbo,manifold and gate setup..at the end of the day i dont want a track or street monster just a reliable daily that can punchout its weight when needed

Sorry my bad i didnt xplain,i ment a new rb20 as in a replacement 1 out of a mates 32 coupe.It was written off (rear end smash) and is sitting in his yard as he was uninsured at the time of accident and he is just selling parts off as it sits.1k for the engine 172xxx ks on it,and i have been quoted from $800 - 1k tops for the install.I was thinking of just building mine up (as i 1st wanted to do) but thought that once the valve stem seals start 'going' it doesnt take long for the smoke to go from not bad as it is now (only faint smokes after initial warm up then goes after 10 15 mins) to a undriveabvle aka embaracement 'smoke city' so just wanted to drop replacement in and get back to the norm... ?,out of interest how much would i be roughly looking at to do a good reliable 20 build as i also am looking at a turbo upgrade soon for around 400-430whp..

Got compression test done today and all were running the same (150 or 155,ive 4gotn already the actual figure but were fine) across all 6 cyl's so boiled down to being them valve stem seals.I went to a few "big name" workshops and was quoted between 1300 - 1600 with new seals and labour to fix...Is this a right price for this job or am i being RIPPED OFF bkoz i can get a new rb20 installed for around 16-$1800..

Yeh ur right there mate,I dont want attention from the fuzz,but i have a power fc with hand controller and a few other electrical goodies easily visible when u look in the windows so i just want to hide them and the legal tint juz dont do it so i want to go darker.Ive seen limo style and lighter style tints on a number of skylines lately so im wondering how they go (and i was driving besides a black 33 last week that had daaaark dark tint on it and the cops driving behind him but left it alone,tho the driver was grannying it .. my mates rex has had 10% on it for the last 3 years and not a yellow yet so i guess its a hit n miss thing.... Thanx 4 the replies and reco's peepz..

I had a 3a on my old 180 for 5 years.They are just as good or if possible better then the big name brands like hks,apexi etc,id buy the same again when my current pod hits replacement stage.

Im looking at getting my 32 tinted next week and have gone to tint-a-car but i want darker then their darkest legal 35% tint plus the guy said no one does limo/dark tints anymore in WA(which is crap) and ive also looked at TKO but didnt see what i wanted on their website.... Does anyone have any recommendations for a good place,prefer SOR,i dont want anything crazy like 5-10% but dont want the 35% 'still see in the car job'..

Thanks bubba il check it out if i get home b4 sun gets down today.. It is completely random most times but mostly occurs within the first hourish i run the car from a lenghty stop (6-8 hours plus). I warmed up today 5-6 mins and no smoke at all so i drove around the block and no smoke either apart from a very small cloud on take off from driveway,tho i could do the same thing tmrw and it might smoke noticeibly its that random. I spent hours yesterday checking over everything again and didnt see any signs of leaks or split hosings either so im out of ideas as to what it could be (externally) so im taking it to cypher this week sometime...and hopefully not receiving news of a valve stem problem..or worse

Yeh mate i will be getting a compression test later next week so til then its a process of elimination taking shit off checkin this n that and praying it it just the turbo..

Yeh mate i thought that first and prayed it was that but after i warmed it up wednesday for atleast 6-7 minutes then drove from my place in yangebup to kmart kardinya as i stoped at the lights there that white smoke appeared and thats when i ruled that theory out.It is very unconsistant but im noticing it happens more on a cold night/early morning but seen as tho driving for 10-15 minutes and stoping and it appears thats when i startred thinking the turbo's dying or oil in the system burning somewhere or worse case scenario the engine is the problem ...........but then again i mite just be freaking out

Checked oil,its fine and doesnt seem to be using any more then normal and no discolour/sludge in engine as i took the cap off and its just oil in there. Checked radiator for oil and there wasnt any signs of oil,its the normal light green colour. Checked the lines to and from the catch tank (thought i'd rule shit out) and all looked normal. Took a section of the front mount piping off and no signs of oil in there either. Ive been looking this morning at some posts on here talking about the pcv and smoking issues but dont know where xactly it is on the engine to take a look myself.Does any1 know bowt the pcv and if they or a friend has had problems with it b4 as im freaking out that it might be the engine dying not a $50 to maybe a new turbo job im looking at...

thanks for the reply (Bubba and Mr Keets)...(i could be wrong) but I dont really think it is the valve stem seals as i cant see any smoke on deceleration only on take off and idle.Nah i dont thrash the car and that small burnout that night was the first and last and its not the misses fault,she actually is a good driver and WOULD put some of the guys on this forum to SHAME ..I warmed the car up today (but am to afraid to drive it incase i f**k it even more) but just sat there idleing an saw no smoke.. Question: if it is the turbo on the way out shouldnt it smoke all the time not just on idle and take off???...

I had same problem but got a flush and used good coolant and als cool since then. My car usually reads 75-90 degrees on power fc hand cont but in 40 degree summer days hits around the 100 degree mark.

I have searched thru the forums and looked for posts that have similar problems to mine but cant find any that are just like mine so here it is.... I have a R32 with a R33 turbo and noticed one night driving home (from a cruise,and 1 small burnout from the misses) that it was spiking from my set boost of 13.5 to 15psi.I dont check my boost gauge everyday but close enuf to it so cant say how long for sure it had been running at 15psi.When i got home i let the car cool down for 2-3 minutes then turned her off.The next day when i started the car up it was warming up for 3-4 minutes then as i was reversing down the driveway i noticed a thin cloud of white smoke in the rearview so i got out and checked and coming out from the zorst was a thin stream of white smoke.I didnt think to much of it at the time and thought hopefully that seen as it was a very cold night the car was just a tad cold still so i put it down to that but as i took off up the street there was a small white cloud following me still.It stoped blowing in the next street but still the thought had me worried of a blown turbo or even worse it was the the rings or the engine was on the way out.I had a mate follow me the other day seeing if it was blowing any smoke and he said it wasnt really xcept for when i stopped at lights idleing and then on take off.The engine seems the same to me,revs the same,sounds the same and is making boost as about the same as b4 the smoke started but still the smoke is there.I went to the shops today and as i pulled in and clutched it in2 a parking bay and a mass of white smoke whaffled by me,i turned the car off and when i came back and started it up and idled there was no smoke at all even as i took of and on the drive home there was no smoke at all.I asked around and went to a workshop today but the drive there and in the workshop car park it didnt blow any smoke so the guy said until he sees the smoke colour and smell himself he cant really say for sure what it is.. I have had silvias an 180sx's b4 and have blown a turbo in them but it was like boooooost then BANG no power black smoke and so on but this has got me stumped as to what it could be.I have looked all arvo for leaks or any problems but cant see any exept for my catch can has a bit of oil on it. I will be taking it to a workshop to have a inspection in 2 weeks but any help or feedback would be muchly appreciated in the meantime thanks.
