Type R (rocket Or Bucket?)
oh-so-swift replied to oh-so-swift's topic in General Automotive Discussion
hmm, i wouldnt even consider an ek9 type R as a fast car / sports car. Type R has to be DCR, DC5,EP3,NSX -
In syd, my friend got a ticket for not having water in his wiper reserve tank !!! there are ways around mods though, you can hide things like turbos, ecu, BOVs, best place for a BOV is under a fender. I think people usually get booked when an officer has lots of shiny things to look at. Shiney stainless steel piping, blue silicon hoses are a good sign of something else sleeping under the bonnet. To be honet, i much prefer the stealth look, i have black intercooler piping, black BOV, black Boost controller, ecu is hidden, BOV is under fender, black runners surrounded by black heat sheild, next thing on the list, black rocker cover. Its still all there, but its not staring you in the face is all im saying.

the kind of evil chuckle you have when you like something ? or the kind of chuckle you have when you see a turbo mirage or a Camry with Lexux badging?

Type R (rocket Or Bucket?)

Yeh, they are the type of car you step out of saying "that was fun" It felt quicker than it was. I remember i could hear the engine roar and being thrown back in my seat and jerked around. It felt very fast It sounded as though it was ready to launch into space LOL. But when matched up against my 1.3L-T(TD04L) it was kinda no match. And my car runs smooth as a bee, comfortable to drive, no massive force pulling you back, not rattling chassis or screaming engine, If you were to drive both cars, you would think mine was much slower because its smoother. I guess thats the thrill of a type R then? People like the agressive ride, rough and tumble jerking around even though it feels faster then it is? I LOVE inconspicuous cars, however i think Type R's are quite the opposite. -

Cost big bucks to get an integra/civic to run with the big boys (skyline, F6, sti, evo, 200sx, S4, R36 passat ect) They are fun to drive, but it would be annoying to have to completly hammer/reline your car to have to get anywhere. . . . it would feel like constant turbo lag with out the big surger of power at the end.. most civic/integra's get K20, H22 transplant doesnt come cheap and not that big a difference in performance. You need a turbo to really get anywhere .. heheh (for honda) Accord Euro would have been nice in Type R, now that i would consider! -

they are pretty expensive though, as mentioned earlier, for the price range of a DC5R and EP3 you can get some really nice turbo cars .i.e skyline, 200sx, wrx, evo, Then again i guess it all comes down to personal taste. So far those who have had a type R have really enjoyed it i take it. -

On you mate let us know how it goes. My daily for the past couple of months has been a Renaultsport Clio (2.0, 125kW, 1035kg 0-100 ~7), maybe not quite in the Integra R category in a straight line, or your Starlet beastie but it's a sweet handler and still good on fuel. Might be a good alternative to a Civic R? Hot hatches are only gonna get more popular with no end in sight to the fuel increases... Clio sport is an awsome car!!! some very nice ones out there!! -

@ oh-so-swift: I guess these cars are good for what they are, being small displacement small cars, but they are hyped up to be soooo much more that. Sometimes the hype from the Honda fanboys makes them seem like skyline beaters, when they are no where near... That's the problem I think, theres nothing wrong with them, just they are hyped up to be way more then they are. HAHAHA skyline beaters.... gotta have some big HP to beat a skyline (GTR) Nothing a stock type R can produce. -

the point of the post is that im trying to find impartial opinons on type R's. Myabe there might be people on this site who have owned them before. I didnt post on ozhonda because they will all just tell me how wonderful they are. E.g a friend of mine had a dc5r and it was the best thing until he bought a evo and it all of a sudden became "shit" Maybe decide to buy one, not sure yet, would be a dc2r,dc5r or EP3 And you dont have to have to leave rude comments! If you dont understand the thread then dont post. -

thanks for the repsonse guys, The VTiR and DC2R are different though, there is a slightly different set up. Im wondering if anyone has any feed back on an EP3? I only ask because im a huge fan of hatches and for some reason i can never see what the fuss is about type r. I want to like them but i just cant find a reason for it. Maybe there is something im missing? Any feed back on the EP3 would be good though, -

Hi all, I have heard so much about Integra type R DC2, DC5 and EP3. Recently i had a ride in one and couldnt find out what so great about it? The DC5 does look very nice and is an all round nice car but i didnt find it particually ferocious as people make it out to be. Sounds great, looks very nice but the performance was pretty average. Anyone here owned a type r before? (this is post is not meant to disgrace honda its just a discussion about the hype around type r performance)

the photo in the display pik is not my starlet, the one in the post is. The t25 is not the best choice for the starlet though (unless your running an engine conversion or something similar), its a little to big, if you had the td04 you would have had alot more fun in it hehe. Its pretty quick, I also have a R32 GTR, i want to race against it! would be interesting. (There is a very unhappy ferrari owner driving around heheheh!)

what is ausrotor?

thanks guys, im very proud of it, im from NSW, the 140 klw is at 14 psi, sometimes i put it to 18psi, so i dont know how much more power that would make. Its is a very fun car to drive, i just dont like it when people mistake it for something else.
