  1. Thanks for all the replies guys, makes the burden feel a little lighter.. The worst thing that the cops said to me yesterday is that there is no crime committed for a Hit and Run, all you can do is get them to pay the damage.. I will get "Betty" fixed up with a good clean then I can post up some photos of the before and after.. I am confident that one day I will work out who it was as this is a very isolated incident, 10:00 - 10:25, back tray of a UTE, and in an 50 space, underground Carpark for Coles that has no other grocery competitors for a 4km radius. Cheers.
  2. Hey All, Hope you had a Great Australia day. Just noticed my front driver side 1/4 panel got hit on Tuesday night at Coles Underground Waterloo Carpark around 10pm... Going to police station tonight to file a report, hopefully they can secure camera footage of the car leaving the carpark, the carpark company said they don't have footage of where my car was parked. Anyone been in a similar situation? how was the outcome? I've narrowed down the other car to the back corner of a Ute simply because of the height/isolation/and sharpness of the dent/scratch. Also I was only in that coles for just a bit over 20mins, late at night, so not that many ppl would have come in and out of coles at that time. Finally, Does anyone have an idea how much it might take to pop and respray the front right 1/4 panel of a g35 coupe? Hope your all having a better week than me..
  3. Hey I'd like to come to this.. i'll be working at 9.30 though in the CT, so i'd have to be out of there by 9ish.
  4. Thanks for clearing that up. If I jack up the car remove the wheel and guards then take a photo of the back of the headlight would it be straight forward for someone to identify if I still have all the components left over to reactivate the Xenons? thanks in advance.
  5. Isn't it awesome that whilst we drive something that has a perceived high-performance, it also has fantastic styling, form, and luxury to match, so we don't need to drive it fast to prove a point that we have one of the best value for money sports/luxury cars ever to exist... We need to drive our car slower so that more people can appreciate it! Sorry to offend others out there, but a Commodore/Falcon only looks good going at high speeds because it hides how horrible the shape and styling is.. And since the resale value diminishes by "Square root of cost price" each year they need to get as much use out of it as they can! On the other side, our car looked great 8 years ago, still looks great today, and will probably still look good in 5+ years time if the direction of the Audi S5 is anything to go by.. (I think our shapes are very similar) Don't ever sell it people! take it all the way to 100,000kms then rebuild the engine! Take it to 120,000kms, Have your first Kid then put a Babyseat in the Backseat!. Take it to 140,000kms, Have your second kid and get a 2nd Car, but put a supercharger in it and make sure the bonnet still stays stock so that your wife doesn't notice anything sus. Also, get rid of that middle section of your seats which has collected over 140ks of sweat and re-upholster the thing in New Black cow-hide leather. Take it to all your business meetings, secretly laughing at all your clients who are driving BMWs with 50% luxury tax on them, and costs thousands of dollars to service just to 'maintain' not IMPROVE their vehicle and when you get to 180,000+kms, Dude... you have already been through so much with this baby, just build a shed in the backyard and go check up on her everytime you need to mow the lawn. Fast forward, your first child is now 16, think again... give them the 2nd car to beat up, don't let anyone touch this, but invite anyone over who you know used to own a commodore/falcon to have drinks and gloat.. Well this is my life plan as far.. FYi. i've done about 80,000ks so far..
  6. Yeah I have 2 cracked bushes which I need to get sorted, I was quoted around $350 for labour, and I still think thats high..so I've been putting it off till next service.. I bought a pair on ebay for $120 delivered, I think I saw recently they even cheaper now.. Genuine nissan part from America. When it comes to stock parts for the V35, dont bother looking for anything in OZ. It will usually be 3 times the price just so that they can tell you its Genuine Nissan. I've always gone straight to Ebay US and found the best deals there. Please let me know how much you end up paying of install? i think it requires a 'hydraulic jack' to install.
  7. Hey Guys, Well I said I wouldnt bother to discount these items unless the US dollar went over .96, and now look at what has happened..I'm eating my own words!! Anyways i'm happy to let go of a Brand New Titanium Finish NRG Strut Bar now at $250, and I have all the tools to help you install it on the spot if you come to pick it up from St. Peters, Sydney, on a Weekend or afterwork. The K&N oil Filter I am happy to let go for $65, with additional discount if you purchase the strut Bar also.. Please PM me if you have any questions or would like to come and see it. Cheers.
  8. If the answer to the above question is Yes.., then Does anyone know whats involved when a workshop removes your gas discharge headlights and replaces them with halogen headlights for compliance? Do they actually prevent the ability to re-fit xenon gas bulbs in the future without installing a new conversion kit? I'm pretty sure the guy I bought my v35 from did not restore it to original spec after it was complied and now that one of my headlights has gone out the question begs what the hell do I replace it? (My lights are very white, but they are definitely NOT what I would consider bright, so if I'm purchasing new bulbs what are my options>? and what should I expect to pay for each option? Any insight you can share would be much appreciated. Please help light me up!
  9. Yes I agree! thats why I used this experience to learn alot from the guy about what to look out for and how to remove things and put them back together.. Thanks or pointing out the engine oil I'll have to ask him why it costs so much next time I pop past..
  10. I notice this same problem sometimes with mine as well. I find a trick is to make sure the seat handle lever clicks in properly when you pull it back so that you hear it lock in and then it works for me.. when I lift the lever half-@ssed to get to the back seat and let go 'lightly' it catches somewhere and then it wont move back into place.. Hope this helps..
  11. Just had a major 80,000km service done on the V and thought I would post up the costs to share. $88 - Full Wheel alignment $162 - Supply & Fit 2 new Drive belts (was still running on original drive belts which were dry and hard) $260 - Replace Transmission Service Oil - J-Matic, (2 x bottles) + drain overnight $125 - Flush Brake System (has not been performed in 2+ years to my knowledge) $320 - Supply & Fit 2 x new Rear Bendix Brakes, + Remove and machine Rear Rotors $140 - Remove and machine Front Rotors, Filed down of uneven wear front pads for free $320 - Full Service of Engine (80,000km) = 4 x hours Labour @$80 $98 - Supply Engine Oil $18 - Supply oil filter $162 - 6 x Platinum NGK Spark Plugs (I know I can get this cheaper on ebay $100USD but I was happy to go ahead with it to get over and done with. Complimentary Detail and Vacuum Total = $1727 +GST. - Few things still require attention - lower front left/right control arm Bushes are broken/cracked - Needs replacing ($100USD delivered ebay Genuine nissan) + 3-4 hours labour to install (requires hydraulic Press) Can anyone confirm if it takes this long? - Rocker cover slightly leaking internally to centre coils - may cause damage to coils and plugs if unattended. Anybody else had this same issue? how much did it cost you to replace/install? I'm sure someones going to read this and point out where I got ripped off, but this was more an educational/convenience experience for me, as its the first car I've owned for more than 2 years and she's been very low maintenance up until this point. The mechanic is a 3min walk from my place, he was very knowledgeable about my car and friendly service orientated, he even let me watch and interact with the guys while most of everything was carried out so I got to learn alot about the state of my car and how its going to survive the next few years. I have been to mechanics before where they have just changed my oil, replaced my pads and sent me on my way, while not raising any of the issues that this mechanic pointed out to me. So instead of ringing around to find other quotes to try and save give or take $50-$100 like I normally do I thought I would give this one a try. He also seemed very happy to quote me prices for parts so that I could compare them to ebay and he would just charge for install.. Overall I feel very happy with the end result, looking at all the old parts that were replaced this is something that I have been waiting to do for for a while now. My engine is sounding very healthy and the brakes are performing great with next to no noise.. Anyways if you feel like commenting please try not to make this thread about how much Jason got ripped off today because it discourages other people from sharing their experiences, and I'm sure at one point or another we have all been happy to pay a bit more for educational/good service.. Btw.. My spare NRG strut bar and K&N Air filter are still up for grabs if anyone is interested in coming to check them out (St.Peters, Sydney) - Have had a few low-ball offers which make me chuckle because ppl forget when comparing to ebay to include freight from US for a reasonably bulky item + conversion rate on paypal is not near what people think it is... So instead I will be happy to help you install them with my own tools on the spot if you come on the weekend. Weekend is almost here! Does anyone else live closeby to the St.Peters area? Have a good one!
  12. Hi. If you're happy to pay the asking price I'm happy to bring it with me to Melbourne next month during week of 20th. I'll be staying in the City. send me a PM with your details.
  13. +1 Its amazing how many people I meet who buy 2nd hand cars and don't know about getting them inspected. Even buying 2nd hand from a Dealer, who knows what they are trying to get away with?? I suppose its illegal to to tell a customer that the car hasn't been in an accident when it has, but if its an import I suppose they can claim denial-ability because it all happened overseas..
  14. Hi Richard, I've seen it posted a few times on the forums that a 350z strut won't fit a V35.. But I'm happy to be corrected. I might also try to take some pictures on the weekend and post them up.. Cheers.
  15. What happened to that other concept car that was going around last year?
  16. Hi, this is the thought process I went through and I have had no regrets only good feedback and pride. I was faced with the same dilemma, and my conclusion was that I wanted to get 19" Jap-spec wheels so that they held their value, and I knew I would need adjustable coilovers, because I felt stock height sat way too high.. If you fit in with this same mindset I would suggest you put aside $2500-3000+ for wheels, at least $1500 for Tyres, and $1500 for suspension + $300 for install. So give or take a bit around $6500* added to your V to get it looking what I think makes it really shine, and then decide if you still want to spend $27-$29K on a 2005 model? Btw..*$6500 is a number that I struggled for months to come to terms with.. Especially since I live down Princes Hwy and everyday I drive past 'You know who' saying "BUY ME" - I'm the cost of one of your wheels.. but after alot of obsessive looking around, researching and asking friends opinions I knew that when it was all finally done I was very happy with the result, and I was glad I got an 03 model, because I really didnt feel comfortable spending anymore than $30K in total for what became an obsession.. My final advise is whatever you like, always get it mechanically inspected. ~$230 bucks and you get a full report from state roads detailing any resprays, likelihood of being in major accidents, de-tuning etc.. and lots of other stuff that I would give to a mechanic to look at before I decided on which car I would buy. Good luck and hope this helped..
  17. I noticed the Revs sounded cleaner (no more faint gurgle sound which I could hear after reving when I had a 2 year old+ stock filter) but I have no idea if this is dependant on the new air filter. Compared to buying a new stock filter for $55 the extra $20 for a performance brand was worth a try.. I wouldn't consider the filter spray until maybe 6 or so months down the track when you need to give it a good clean. My friend recommended that I clean it when I first open it because sometimes they add too much oil to it and if this gets into the engine it can be bad news..then he said I should buy the spray and respray it lightly before using it for the first time.. (well deserved if you can notice a difference) Some people have even recommended that you can clean out the K&N air filter and run it "dry" no oil. I suggest you take out your air filter, have a good look at it and make the decision if you want to get a new stock one for $55, a blitz one for $65+a long drive, or a K&N one for $75.. PM for address if you would like to come and see it.. I work from home so I am available most days. Cheers.
  18. Thanks for the offer, but this has been sitting in my wardrobe for the last 2 months so I'm happy to hold onto this until someone comes along who is keen enough.. or until the US Dolllar goes to .96c Cheers.
  19. Sorry I forgot to clarify, I'm in Sydney, but i'll be in Melbourne next month at a Tradeshow all week 20-26th, I'll be staying in the city so I could bring both items with me if it hasn't sold by then. PM your details and I will contact you closer to that date. Cheers.
  20. Bought both items for my car and another set for my brother who had a deposit on a V, but ended up buying an S15 instead. Hence I have a brand new Spare Strut Bar and Air-Filter for sale. NRG TITANIUM FINISH STRUT BAR G35 03-05 $275 K&N Air Filter 33-2031-2 Infiniti G35 03-07 / G20 91-02 $75 Drop in K&N Air-filter comes with original box. I prefer pick-up only (St.Peters area) so that Buyer can see the condition of Items. I can even show you invoice to prove I am barely breaking even on these items. I checked out both items on Ebay for $200 USD + freight (unavailable) ($225 AUD+$60 freight?) , K&N Air-Filter $65 USD ($75 AUD) including freight, so I think my price is reasonable given that you can come and see the items and buy them on the spot. Takes 15-20mins to install each item, I can even show it to you installed on my car and offer troubleshooting that you might come across when installing the strut-bar. Strut Bar fits with stock hood, no engine cover removal necessary and will also fit with 5/8 SKunk2 plenum spacer. Please PM me if you are interested in buying/coming to see these items.
  21. I am in the same boat!! I still use the factory immobiliser on mine, and when I was looking for a V35 I would see aftermarket immobilisers that botched up the boot-release button... so I was put off from getting an aussie-standard one.. Can someone please clarify if these are still theft insurance approved?
  22. Hi Guys, I did a search for Transmission oil in this forum and I couldnt find anything to confirm for a 2003 V35 Coupe AT, is it the same transmission oil as the 350Z? J-Matic? I'm approaching 70k's, and my mechanic told me the oil should get changed when it starts to go very dark, which mine is.. Has anyone ever done a change on an AT? how much oil do you need and how much did it cost? Cheers.
  23. The only thing I can't confirm is that the custom door trim is not on that car in Australia.. I recognised the voice in the video, Go to this link and you get to see the man behind the camera in the Jap-video http://www.youtube.com/user/mightycarmods#p/u/7/63Y97oLjiuA Fast-forward to 9:11, This should pretty much confirm our suspicions. My conclusion is that he would try to find an international buyer over there first, and if he cant get enough money for it he sends it over here to be sold before winding it back. Good work on the find! I've always had 2 suspicions when it comes to winding kms'.... 1. Do the locals deactivate their clocks when it gets to a certain point, and then reactivate it whenever they try to sell it... 2. or Do they just as easily hook it up to PC and minus the kms.. This probably confirms the latter.. Best advice a friend ever gave me, no matter how much you like it, get it inspected by Stateroads.com.au best $200bucks you'll ever spend. Cheers!
  24. Great DiY! For as long as I've had my V35, every time I close the Drivers side Door there is a little rattle-sound that isn't on the passengers side. Also when I drive with the window all the way down and go over a bump, I hear the rattle again. I'm confident if I follow your DiY I'll eventually find the reason behind this, I'm just wondering if you know what I should be looking out for? A Nissan guy down the road suspected the *track* might be loose? but they wanted $170 just to take a look at it.. Any Tips? Greatly appreciated in advanced..
