What is the ID tag on it? It will shed some light on compressor and turbine sizes. -
Another 25 Turbo Sizing Question
The Mafia replied to Young GT-R's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'd say its going to be laggy, and might make a bit over 250rwkw (MAYBE). It doesn't look like its going to bolt on happily though. -
can you guys tell me how effective this extrustion hone is? If its any good, I'll get a second hand manifold, and get it honed - And put it back on when I change my turbo.

Real GT3076R spec (complete turbocharger number is 700382-12) Turbine : GT30 84 trim (60.1mm inducer diametre by 55mm exducer) . Compressor : 76.2mm 56 trim . Cartridge number : 700177-5007 GT30 .82 IW Ex housing .60a\r compressor cover Well - This is what I am going to put in to order. I'm hoping to get between 270rwkw and 300rwkw, so wish me luck over the next 2-3 months. Disco - If possible confirm the above is the best mactch for what I am planning to go for one more time, and I'm going to start this long and horrid process. I'll be passing this exact list of specs above, and making sure they get me exactly that. Hopefully I'll achieve some nice power. -

cool, so you think that it should reach most of my targets, and be definatly better than this current one? I got it dyno'd today - 243rwkw and 420nm or torque. 18psi at 4000rpm... heh -

hhmmm ok, well things are looking a little clearer now. Sorry if I've been a pain disco, but here are my goals 1. Boost All in before 4,000rpm (its at that now, but this new turbo will be better anyway) 2. Boost level at 15psi ~ 18psi 3. Smooth Delivery (not too hard) 4. Power between 270rwkw and 300rwkw 5. Nice mid range torque (little bit of low lag is ok) I'm thinking this turbo you have "built" for me would fit the bill nicely: Real GT3076R spec (complete turbocharger number is 700382-12) Turbine : GT30 84 trim (60.1mm inducer diametre by 55mm exducer) . Compressor : 76.2mm 56 trim . Cartridge number : 700177-5007 GT30 .82 IW Ex housing .54ar Comp cover? Or maybe the .60? I'm just trying to put a decent turbo together... Don't want to get a mismatch one again -

Disco So those specs that I have posted are for the 3071? Well, what are the 3076? DO you think you can update my post with what you think I should be choosing? I'll attached a spreadsheet I have recieved this morning. The Guy I spoke to - Bob stafford. He seems to know his stuff when it comes to turbo charactisitics. He is saying that the compressor in my turbo is larger than the 3076 wheel we are looking at, but the turbine wheel is definately larger than the one I currently have. As for the 3076 that we are trying to "build" in this thread... I have never been more confused... Disco, you need to list the parts that you recommend for me ie Wheel size, trim, turbine size, trim, housing sizes. Thanks [edit] master bom.xls attached as master bom.txt - rename to .xls (just right slock, save as) Master_BOM.txt -

Thanks Slide, that was very much appreciated. Here are some even more updated specs on the turbo that I am looking at: The GT3076 with these specs - (700177-0023 or -5023) The Compressor wheel specifications should be : 71mm 56 trim The Compressor Cover : .60 a\r (need a 4 inch bell mouth, Intake is already 4 inch) The Turbine Specs should be: 84 trim 60mm GT30 The Exhaust housing will be a Garret IW .82 GT30 ok, so there is a turbo build. I'm HOPING, this will give me a lot less trouble than the monster I have on there now. I went for a drive last night, and it went pretty damn good to tell you the truth. The car is going on the Rollers in about 30 mins, so I'll post a dyno sheet on what the T04S wheel and .63 housing can do. Seriously, last night I was surprised at the power I was making. DIsco, can you have a look at the specs above, and confirm that they are good enough to hand to garrett for the production of my turbo? Are there any ithet things I need to add? Do you think I should wait for you to test this ".65" housing you keep mentioning? Also, what kindof boost will this setup handle. I'll probably end up going to forgies at some stage later down the track. -

ok - Here are some updated specs on the turbo that I am looking at: The GT3076 with these specs - (700177-0023 or -5023) The Compressor wheel specifications should be : 71mm 56 trim (or should it be the 52 trim?) The Compressor Cover : .6xx a\r? (need a 4 inch bell mouth) (maybe the .65 cover Disco wants to test?) The Turbine Specs should be: (I have no idea) The Exhaust housing will be a Garret IW .82 GT30 Can anyone fill in the blanks? I'm going to get this right this time! -
mine isn't normal - the back light doesn't work properly. I need it fixed as its useless at night
-
excellent for stock. Exhaust, FMIC, and Powerfc and you'll make 200rwkw easily.

ok well, I am a little confused, but have an idea on what I should be looking at. The GT3076 with these specs - (700177-0023 or -5023) The Compressor wheel specifications should be : 76mm 56 trim The Compressor Cover : (can I keep my .7ar or will it be better at .6 or even .5??) The Turbine Specs should be: (I have no idea) The Exhaust housing will be a Garret IW .86 Housing Ok. This is my goal. I want a fairly responsive 270rwkw-290rwkw, and that will be nice to drive on the street. I have all the supporting mods. Boost needs to be 18psi or less, and yeah Comes full on before 4000rpm like the shitty one I have now. Am I on the right track? Can anyone fill in the gaps? -
hey, I need to back out too... Sorry guys..

I know you're only running 8psi but does it seem laggy? Can you give me an estimate on the rpm vs boost levels? When is the full 8psi in? -

holy shit, all you guys had better post your results! Oh, and I don't know what drugs I was on, but I went for a drive today to find out exactly when I am on full boost in second - Its 4,000rpm!!! I never realised. So yeah, I was talking crap before.... Had no idea it was that late. Anyway, I really want to see some results from all of you guys this week. If so, I'll have my turbo off next week getting the 3076 bits attached. If I have a turbo laggy as it is now, then a .86 housed 3076 CAN'T be any worse in the lag department. -

yeah, problem is - in 5th, you can hit full boost much earlier - but with only needing 1\4 of the throttle. The exhaust housing is a chokey little bastard me thinks. -

the .63 can be a little choking for higher power levels though. It affects the turbo characteristics quite a bit. -
Ok. Hi Everyone. As you are all aware, the Garrett GT30r is a great upgrade for the RB25 for any user looking between 240rwkw and aboout 300rwkw. Before I continue - here's a few things about my car. Its a Standard motor, 3% leakdown. Water meth injection, powerfc, 555cc Nismos, Full exhaust, FMIC, etc. 18psi of boost. As a few may know, I managed to get myself a poor GT30r, one with a badly setup Compressor wheel and a Turbine wheel that I've been told is letting it down also. My Setup has a .7a/r compressor cover, and a ground out RB25 Stock turbo Exhaust housing. It apparently has a T04S wheel in it. 700177 is the first half of the part number on the plate. Mine is not too bad though - Managing over 240rwkw with heaps of torque, (haven't got dyno figures because I haven't dyno'd the car) but I'm running 12's with 112mph. Anyway.... Full boost on my Turbo is at about 4000rpm in second, and thats at 18psi. There is no evident surging issues, or boost creep. I'm using the $22 boost controller. I've spoken to the turbo guy in mackay here and he's offered to help me out by taking my turbo and sending it to garrett and getting the comp and turbine wheels changed to my choice, and this for less than $500 which i think is better than spending $2000 for a new one. I've been speaking to Disopotato03 and he's suggesting the GT3071 (.63 ex internal gate) or the GT3076 (.86 internal gate). (and thanks for putting up with my extreme lack of knowledge Disco, you're a real champ) I've managed to get some Compressor maps, and I'm looking at the difference between these two turbos and I'm not really sure what it is. I only have a few small questions and are after a little bit of feedback from anyone that is using one of these turbos. 1. What sort of lag are you looking at with the two combos mentioned above? (the GT3071 (.63 ex internal gate) or the GT3076 (.86 internal gate). 2. What size compressor cover should I be going for? Is .7 too big? 3. General opinions on anything at all? 4. What is the difference between the 3071 nad the 3076 other than the wheel sizes? One has more top end maybe? If anyone has any opinions or ideas - share them here. I'm more than willing to post up befor and after Dyno results, and changes etc. Here are some compressor maps of the two turbos - does anyone know how to read them properly? Feel free to m paint them explaining lol. I'd love to know this! Also, Just adding that I've now decided that I'm only chasing anything less than 300rwkw. 280rwkw would be so nice.

lets get to this then eh?

I have GT30r with a .7 Compressor cover and a .63 eh housing, and I needed two 10mm spacers.
