  1. its definately a turbo problem. Go out and buy yourself a direct bolt on 2530 kit, and an aftermarket ECu, and get some good power
  2. dude do a search. 250kw at the engine is easy. Exhaust, FMIC, and powerfc with the boost control kit, and a good tuner will get you more than that and reliably. I ran 210rwkw on my R33 SII for 12 months and had not a single problem. Compression tests showed no engine wear. I think 210rwkw is roughly 260 - 270 at the engine. MOre than enough to smoke ls1s and keep up with Ls2's.
  3. Hi guys, as you see in this thread - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=89613 I didn't make my goal power target. I missed it by quite a bit. We've narrowed it down to poor fuel. Up in north QLD here, mackay doesn't have anything better than 95 octane. Now to battle this, I am going to look at some sort of Water methanol injection setup. Its seems to be the cheapest option in the long run. I mean I could ship drums of 98ron up, but when my car burns a tank in 200kms..that would be painful. Also, constantly adding toluene would be expensive and a pain in the ass. The shit is getting expensive. I've worked out - water methanol injection once set up would cost rougly $3 - $5 a tank extra. (200l Drum of Methanol costs around $200) and 5l of distilled water is about $4 Talking ot my friend that has a 375rwkw supra here that had to switch to this system, he uses 3l of methanol and 3l of water per tank of fuel. He gained 100hp (or 65rwkw) out of it. Now I know that I am not going to make this kind of power extra, but I'm gonig to be able to reach my target safely, and increase the life of my engine. ok...theres all of my justification. Now the good part - The setup. These kits are a piece of piss - pump, wiring, jet, sensors etc. The kit my mate has, has got a maf sensor, and increases nozzle pressure as the boost increases.   5. I'd consider shipping drums up but I can't due to the fact I have no where to store it. If I did, I would certainly do it. I'm not a guy with heaps of cash either so yeah, I'll be looking for the most cost effective solution. One of my mates runs a Supra with 375rwkw, and he said that he got the last 100hp with the water methanol kit. Stopped all pinging. I guess thats all we can do for now until we get some fuel which I highly doubt.
  6. thanks guys. I was talking to a guy tonight at one of our test and tunes - he said to spend $700 on a good water methanol kit, and that will solve all of my fuel \ ping problems. Then look at an electronic boost controller to fix the weird boost problems, he said he'd just stick a 15psi actuator on there to make it easier again.. This guy has a 11 second xr6t that he tunes himself.
  7. the problem is fuel... We can't get anything better than 95 ron here. I don't even know if the E10 here is any good. Its supposed to be 96 ron, and the tuner said I should be able to put more timing into it... Now with the ethanol blend petrol, apparently its 91ron petrol with 10% ethanol which makes it equivalent to 96 ron rated fuel. Dunno if its any good though. pistons is another thing.. Apparently stock pistons are as weak as f**k. heres food for though also, the tuner said that at 80 knock on the hand controller, he could JUST hear detonation in his headphones. Also talking to the tuner today he said that these turbo are in their efficiency range at about 20psi+. But they are very touchy and 1-2 psi in the high teens makes a shit load of difference. I really don't know where to start. I don't want to be running fuel additives all the time... I got sick of having to put toluene in all the time with my normal fuel, but it was much better than standard pump 95. I mean, f**k, if shell got their ass in gear and released the Shell100 here (premium with 10% ethanol) I'd be laughing... Would be able to wind shitloads of timing into it. I really am stuck. Would I be able to make more power safely by taking a little bit of timing out and adding 1-2 psi of boost? The tuner is very hesitant of putting more boost in..

  9. drives the same until about 5,000rpm, and pulls really hard.. Shame it pings its nuts off in third at about 6,000 rpm f**ked if I kno whats wrong. I might drop the exhaust like what paul said, but I seriuosly don't think there is a need because its HUGE anyway. Forget 98ron fuel, we can't get it here. Closest servo is 4 hours away. Maybe The ex housing is too small, causing a restriction, and heat, and causing detonation? I don't know...

Cubes - Its a VG30 ex housing, and a .7 comp cover Miller - Clutch is 3100 pounds..Definately not the clutch Don't need a pressure regulator, rail pressure was fine Got cam gears, didn't make a difference.. you're saying 5-7rwks... dude, I remember someone posting with the same setup pulling 250 - 260 rwkw... I don't understand why mine is reading so low..

Mods To date - 600x300x75 FMIC Garret GT30r with a 0.63 rear standard manifold Full partitioned 4 inch intake, with a VH45 AFM (90mm) Full exhaust - split dump, and 3 - 3.5 - 4 inch exhaust with a HiFlow cat Walbro 250l Fuel pump Nismo 550cc injectors PowerFC and Datalogit The best fuel we have here is 95ron...yeah I know, it sucks. Mackay is a shit place for that sort of thing.
  12. damn.... I just got my car back... On 95ron fuel and 14psi, with this setup, I made 223rwkw and 450nm or torque... This really sucks... If so pissed off! Does anyone have any ideas why so low?? The stock turbo made 210rwkw and 420nm or torque at 12psi!
  13. maybe the circlip that holds the actuator arm on the waste gate has come off. When this happened to me, the most boost the car made was 4 psi.
  14. you might want to gap your plugs before you do anything else if you haven't done that already. .8 seems to be the best size
  15. oil in the last cylinder? Its got bad blow by. If I were you, get it compression tested, and stop boosting in the mean time before you really wreck it. Sounds like you are going to need a rebuild....
  16. well, running almost 1 bar of boost on a stock turbo on a "tuned" powerfc, I can say its got a 70% chance of knocking. The other 30% I can bet the AFM is maxing out due to the stupid amount of boost and airflow ripping through it. At 210rwkw (12psi), my injector duty cycle never went above 80%, but the AFM maxed at 6500rpm many many times. (rev limiter was at 7200) Thank god I have an ace tuner. And I will say again; after 12 months of 210rwkw, and a fair bit of "spirited" driving, compression tests came back at 169psi accross all cylinders, with 2% leak down. Oh, and Paul is right, if the boost control kit is NOT installed (or not functioning), and it's turned on, the car won't start. (most likely to prevent an overboosting disaster).
  17. hhmm... the knock sensor light is coming on hey. 3 flashes? Have you ever considered that THE CAR MAY BE KNOCKING? "Guys, I coated my floor with grease, and now I keep slipping over. Why could that be?" Take it to a decent mechanic and get it tuned properly at 11psi - 12psi before you kill your turbo and motor. Until then, DON'T hammer your car. You WILL kill it.

  21. NOT at all. 300rwkw is do-able, but the motor doesn't last very long. Whoever told you that, did you check their hand? Cause it would be permanently wankers cramped. Supra's can do this on stock internals, but definately not skylines.
