  1. I really need the power excel software and cable for my power FC I feel sorry for my tuner having to use that bloody hand controller. It really is a pain in the ass to use, going back and forth between the map tracer and maps I'm tempted to get a link... But we went to all the trouble to install the q45 afm..
  2. well done, very tidy curve, but I wanna see torque!
  3. this isn't a horsepowerinaboxturbo. I got the VG30 ex housing second hand, and the Garret GT30 compressor and core from a local shop here. FInally got the idle sorted out.. Stupidest mistake - We didn't firmly press on the plug that runs the little stepper motor on the plenum that adjusts the idle. Once in, still very rough idle so I gave her a heap more fuel on that load point, and now its idling nicely. Anything above 4500rpm is death on this current tune, and it knocks its ass off. so, I've set the rev limiter, and are waiting for my injectors to arrive so I can get them installed and get the car tuned to a safe level. Its drivable though, but only slow. And even at 7psi, it hits pretty hard when it comes on. I'll have to run in this turbo though. My tuner said to get some km's up on it.
  4. very interesting.. as .72 would be even better... Quick spool of a .63 with the nice smooth characteristics of a .86.. if anyone can, please confirm this. maybe measure one up.
  5. yeah, and I lose all my tuning ($500 worth) I just spoke to my tuner and he said that I may have fried the little stepper motor that controls the idle, so I am going to pull it off tonight and see if it moves. If it appears to be working properly, I am going to grab a laptop and map out the ignition and injector maps on an excell spreadsheet, and reset the power FC and do the idle learning. My tuner (he is a pretty good mate too, mates with my fabricator friend lol..small town) said not to lose the current tune as it will be a good starting point. I really hope I can get some good power out of my motor. Torque mainly. He did say it was a bit of a freak to be a 1996 and have 169psi accross all cylinders and only 2% leakdown, and should go well. Must be the oil and tune hey? I run Shell Helix 5w40 Fully Synthetic, and change it every 5,000 kms. Myself and Ashton (fabricator friend) are gonig to change the clutch on saturday. My tuner is giving me a RB25 Flywheel to get machined, so that I can put it in and give him my flywheel to swap (cause we won't be able to get it machined on a saturday) anyway, its looking good. Checked Nengun, the injectors won't leave Japan till the 9th of october.. must be a shortage oh well, plenty of time eh I will keep this thread updated. Oh and if anyone has any tips, you are more than welcome to share them. And I again say thanks to Paulr33, he's a value to the SAU community. If you own a Skyline, definately go and have a look at his site (in his sig) The project has only begun.
  6. with these mods you will be fine with the factory ecu, just don't wind the boost above 10psi, or you'll go rich and retard and loose about 30rwkw of power. with these mods, At 10psi, you'll get about 140rwkw
  7. there are only 2 most likely answers. 1. Exhaust wheels in the cat, its new turbo time. 2. You've blown off an intercooler pipe somewhere
  8. Its a VG30.. .63 housing, not standard. You need to read the thread a little better. I'm not going to blow open the "flapper" unless I put on a really weak actuator. My mate has a supra running 320rwkw + it has a 800hp turbo attached internally gated. the only problem with an internally gated turbo is the fact that it may surge, and the boost cannot be controlled as well at higher levels... I'm only gonig to be running 1bar - 1.1 bar.
  9. I'm still running the standard BOV plumbed back. My mate put a little pipe on the 4 inch intake to accomodate... so its not that Tonight, I might record the whole 2 maps onto an excel spreadsheet, and reset the ECU. This might help it find the idle again. The maps are tuned too good to loose. Paul, I'll be sure to pass them onto you. You'll have 210rwkw in no time.. But just be careful, as you may need to tweak it (retard timing just a little) to prevent detonation.
  10. I am going to get back to you about the AFM wiring, as yours is a little confusing and the example rb25 one is completely different to mine.. maybe cause its a SII ? Not sure but the wire colours are different. I'll get the exact wiring for you a little later on. lol no biggy, jus a couple of blown fuses.. I don't really want to reset the ecu... after that tune they did... But I guess its pretty useless now hey? maybe I should plot it out in an excel spreat sheet before I reset it for other people to use? its a 210 rwkw tune, awesome power. Just needs the out of boost points tuned as per your comments in the other thread. lol done with my camera phone (v3 razr) yeah, there is only the little "factory intercooler plumbing hole" in the "air box area" at the moment, I'll have to find a way to route some air to it. I will admit, it doesn't sound as good as my other setup (stock turbo, with stainless turbo duct and shield etc) that spooling sound was sweet
  11. thats on my mates car, and he made that himself. I guess 2 TB's flow more than one. oh and Paul, a BIG THANKS for the your website! I used it to help me do my car. as Crazymn said, car goes fine when throttle above 1,000rpm... but won't idle damn thing ..
  12. Tightening a few hose clamps ok, heres the finished product. ok...I have a few problems.... I have set the Q41 (90mm) option in the PFC but the car won't idle.. I have tried adding and taking fuel and ignition from the load point that the car idles at but no luck WOuld anyone have any ideas whys wrong? I'm going to get the car to a tuner very soon, but it might take a little while... Tuner is booked. Checked for vacuum leaks, loose shit and just general stuff and everything is in order... so yeah, I'm stumped.. Are there any settings that I coukldadjust that I may have missed? anyway... If anyone has any questions at all about this upgrade, ask away, I'll answer my best. This took us 2 full days.
  13. Bit blurry but, where is my turbo?!! lol This is under my mates bonnet. The GT30 on its new home, adding the oil and water lines. This is about the hardest part!! They are bastards to organise\make\get on New pod Divider.. lol well the template Turbo on and a few adjustments A nicely wrapped dump pipe. f**k I love that dump. Its a work of art. (my mate made it from a pair or flanges and some bends). The thermal wrap is wired on. The dump is bolted on and stray lines hooked up The hole in the Divider is cut (with a plasma cutter.. fark they are cool..can blow holes in all sorts of shit) Cleaning up the sharp edges.. Getting there...
  14. Hi guys. Me and my fabricator friend finally have installed the Garrett GT30 with .63 (vg30) housing. Here are a heap of pics of our progress. Car on the hoist.. The dump that I love... All the old bits come off.. The GT30.. Removing the old turbo Turbo Comparison Looks like I've been running some fuel additives..... This is my mates own car.. lol I rode in the back for obvious reasons (he's getting his seats covered) The Q45 AFM is a LOT bigger than the standard one eh? My mate Tiging a new nossle on the GT30 comp cover
  15. well, it takes 4000rpm to spool a .86 on a rb25 from what people are saying, so I;d expect your to be about 4500rpn. It will be fairly laggy... maybe get a .63..
  16. not quite, but tuners like to over exagerate. They just did a "full throttle" tune on mine, and I am pissedabout it cause I've been getting 250kms out of a tank. If you read paulr33's thread, you'll get some great information that you will like a lot. I will be taking a lot of his tuning tips
  17. mine has never worked either.
  18. do you have the small front grill for it? I need a series 2 one.
  19. how do you know that it is leaning out? If you have valid evidence, it will be the fuel pump dropping pressure or something like that.
  20. this is a great thread.. SK has given me so many ideas, and great effort paul. You're a champ. Good luck with the tune
  21. what was the leakdown test result if you got one? Its there oil visible at the back of the motor anywhere?
  22. not really, if you want a cheap easy way, get a Front mount fitted, and powerfc, and a tune. Will cost about $2.4k all up will get you about 200rwkw and a lot more torque, as apposed to 150rwkw Your stock intercool will only handle 10psi, and its not muc different power to what you will have stock I've done all this...and I love my car
