I got my restrictors from Lewis Engines. Ebay has a NZ place selling them super cheap : http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_trksid=p3907.m570.l1313&_nkw=oil+restrictors+RB30&_sacat=0 I used 2 x 1.3mm restrictors and still ended up with oil in the catch can with 80psi of oil pressure above 5k. If you're using an external oil feed for the VCT, I would suggest maybe going slightly smaller. Just my opinion, but there is a huge thread on oil restriction. Regarding your second post - you MUST run restrictors no matter what. I didn't with my first build, and there was oil f**ken everywhere lol

R32 Gtr Stalling On Idle After Rev
The Mafia replied to Travis32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
This thread is back from the dead! haha. mate, put the stockers back on and get some pipes made up to return the BOV air to the turbo intake. Remember, make sure your intake pipe has a decent bend before the afm (Stops air gonig backwards through the afm) and make sure the BOV return is pointing towards the turbo inlet, not the AFM. This applies to any ECU that runs an AFM. -
If you're looking for a good turbo setup I think Dale_Fz1 has one for sale. Its a Garrett GT3076 with a HKS 0.82 rear housing. I think he's selling it with a ported standard manifold, dump pipe and intake pipe. Has about 4,000kms on it. I know for a fact that his setup made 300rwkw easily on 18psi. Maybe sell the HKS rear housing (would sell very easily) and get a 0.63 rear.
-
They're hard to find and expensive. You can buy a set from me if you want. I can show you how to pull them down and clean them too if you want. Cleaning them is a must.
-
My Friend is selling his turbo, dump pipe, intake pipe and exhaust manifold if anyone is interested Specs: Garett Gt3037 6 Blade Compressor (The good one) 0.6 Surge slotted Compressor Cover (whistles) HKS 0.82 Internally Gated Exhaust Housing Extrusion Honed Standard RB25 Exhaust Manifold (Flows as well as a HKS) 3.5inch dump pipe 4 Inch Intake pipe The guy is very reliable, and will not f**k you around. Whole setup has only run about 3000-5000kms. Made 310rwkw on 18psi, loads of torque and response. Looking for $1700 ono

Not the sort of thing you would want to do anyway. Doing that to any business, will only end up costing you more. Only costs $80 to lodge a small claims case. I got bitten tuning cars early on, hence why I have an ABN and do it more business like now. There are so many assholes out there that think they can just walk away without paying. I've always done a great job and never had a complaint so if someone tried to screw me, I'd take them through small claims just for the principle. And continuing on from what Ben wrote, this is why I charge for my time. It's half of what all shops charge, but better, and more time and care is taken because I love doing it, and don't do it as my main job. Doing it for free or at too low of a price just gets you burned. And just for the record, all of the so called "mates" that promised services in return never came through. Point proven. People just take shit for granted. Or you get assholes that complain and spread bullshit stories because their eBay turbo that came with a fake 250rwkw dyno sheet only made 190rwkw at anything from 14psi to 24psi, and blame it all on the tuner. Not my problem, learn how to research, dont buy from a kebab shop owner, buy a real turbo. If you get good service, don't complain, especially if you were dumb enough to but shit hardware. Wasn't having a go at you Sean, just saying in general.

Best way to do it is in this order. 1. Front mount intercooler, intake and exhaust. (Leon) 2. ECU (Powerfc, Vipec or Link G4) (Tuner) 3. Injectors (Tuner or Leon) 4. Turbo (NOT OFF EBAY, and not from some kebab shop owner) but talk to people that know what they are talking about. The best person is your tuner. (Leon and Tuner) 5. Drive it around until the engine dies or you want 350rwkw+ and have the money. 6. Either replace engine with another standard, or spend $15k rebuilding forged.
-
Talk to Leon about mods and tuning. I've known him for many years. Done plenty of work with him. 0448 233 105 He has a Business name now - http://www.facebook.com/ProximityMotorsport You won't get any better in this district.
-
Can you get the person that did the nistune to have a look for you? Checking the ECU logs would give you a good idea to what is wrong. Also, the user DVS Jez is very good with this sort of thing, you should contact him, or hopefully he sees this thread. Welcome to skylines Australia

Ben, that just means he didn't launch it hard enough I just want a rough daily that goes fast, and looks ok, and has most of the annoying mods done. Not sure if I like red though. What do you guys think of this? http://www.ebay.com....9#ht_500wt_1414 Trying to find something that isn't full of kebab wrappers if you know what I mean.
-
ok. well, thats a relief. We'll see how long it is before the supercharger has issues... lol
-
ummm, ok, you're having a baby soon - ever considered buying a house and some baby stuff?
-
I've found a couple of rb26 fitted 180s around too. $12k. I've got the 2530s, wonder if 350-400rwkw is too much for a drift track lol
-
Will be a sweet daily kingy Rb26/30 at 9.5:1 compression, 2530s, 260 duration cams, decent quiet exhaust, e85 or Jew brew, and a vipec or link with a flex sensor so I can tune it to run on anything I decide to pour into the tank would be a torque monster so i dont need boost when driving like a grandma (according to my mates that's often). that's the good thing about knowing how to tune well, I can do a lot of the time consuming and complicated bits myself. Then a couple of times per year I'll drive to Brisbane for something and stop by the track and go fast. As I said, I'm not very interested in beating anyone, I just want to go fast around a track to get it out of my system Want to loan me that r34 once or twice a year?
-
Nice work to your brother Ben. I'm definitely considering an Evo, but for some stupid reason I have always wanted a 400awkw GTR. And something that is easy to get parts for. EVO will be an expensive buy, and is very close to the price of an R34 GTR. I won't be tracking it that much at all, and I'm not interested in racing and beating anyone, just want to go fast lol. So confused

1997 R33 Gt-R V-Spec Non-Running
The Mafia replied to rehab2010's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Ok thanks. Problem is I live in Mackay north QLD, I'd have to get it trucked. I'll see what my options are and let you know. Very interested though. -
I wouldn't mind building a track car What do you guys think of this? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/407182-1997-r33-gt-r-v-spec-non-running/

1997 R33 Gt-R V-Spec Non-Running
The Mafia replied to rehab2010's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Very interested. Does it run at all so that it can be moved? If not, are you able to get it to transport? -
Just looking for a R32 or R33 GTR with a blown motor that someone doesn't want to rebuild and wants to sell as is. Car cannot be crashed or on the repairable write off register. Car can't be stripped. Don't even bother if the car has a dodgy history, I'll be doing all checks. 0439 336 407 [email protected]

Ben is right, but if you are going down the RB30 road I would definitely go for a crank trigger. I've seen too much variance when tuning using a CAS, and even seen an engine fail because of this. If you're using the standard RB25 or RB26 then the trigger is not really needed. I think the RB25\30 suffers because of the different length of the timing belt which causes flex. While tuning, a car was varying 500rpm back and forth on the ECU because of the CAS \ Timing belt whip and flex. But at least if you do get the Ross balancer, the option is always there, even if you don't decide to use it. (Increases the resale value too)
-
I like your thinking Sean! I also want to buy one of these to match my dads:
-
Callan - There are balancers that support a trigger wheel too (I think the Ross does). I'd be looking into something like that if you ever plan on making over 300rwkw. The CAS is junk and they never work well at high RPM with lots of power. Toyota shit on Nissan when it came to Crank angle sensing. Regarding the car.... I've considered: EVO 9 or 10 2001 Toyota Mark II iR-V Fortuna Honda NSX with turbos R32, R33, R34 GTR Jeep Grand Cherokee (lol) S13 with RB26 V35 or V36 Skyline with twin Turbos Toyota Caldina (lol) Toyota Chaser tourer The Fortuna looks pretty cool, has a JZX110 in it. Under $20k too so plenty of room for mods. Its f**king doing my head in though, because I've always wanted a 10 second GTR, and I'm definitely looking at the R33s. It least with the fortuna I can take it to the drift track
-
I still want one, but I need another 6-12 months max before I can.
-
All this talk about cars annoys me.. I want to buy another but I don't know what to buy. Any suggestions?
-
I've never really been a fan. I like the look of the warm stove top glow. LEDs don't give that nice glow. But that's jus my opinion. Also, I think the r33 had the best looking tail lights.
