Get a piece of stainless tube the same size as your pod fitting, weld one end shut, drill a hole in that end, and weld in a air compressor fitting. Should take a fabricator about 10 mins. Take off pod, install device, and then hook air compressor hose up. Listen to air whistling out of somewhere with the car shut off.

don't even help this fool if he is ignorant and won't accept that there are other possibilities than of what he thinks. Don't even know you posted if you're not willing to hear from people with a lot more experience and that have dealt with this problem a hell of a lot more times than you have...

You should never have a head apart and not take apart every lifter and clean them. Also, sounds like you're either running too thick of oil or there isn't enough pressure in the head.

Stock R33 Bov Noise Mods?
The Mafia replied to ClutchBurndout-:('s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Its not quite what you try to do, but loosely based on it so I'll paste it anyway. I've actually got a copy and paste space where this is. Read on. I love these threads. You love the noise - and put the BOV on the car to be a wanker. Its scientifically proven that if you're a wanker, the first thing you do when you buy a Skyline is install a vent to atmosphere blow off valve, to advertise the fact that you are indeed, a wanker. Do you even know how the Nissan air intake system works? There is an AFM that measures the air entering the engine. The Stock BOV recirculates FOR A REASON. When your duck whistle, twisty whooshy twirly, dick pulling, sparkly, spinny, shiny, noisy, fuleh sic, wank off valve opens, it dumps air that the engine has measured and allocated fuel for. When only half the air gets into the cylinder because the air it measured is at the street corner where you sped up erratically and backed off because you saw some women on the corner, thinking that when they heard your BOV they'd get naked and run and dive into your car, the engine is now overfueled and under oxygenated, and stalls, backfires, and carries on. You know why? Because you've created a MASSIVE AIRLEAK on a system that will not run with airleaks. Do you like that fact that you will foul your plugs constantly? Do you also like attracting the cops attention? Do you like the risk of being defected and having to pay money for a BOV that didn't need to be there? Do you like the fact that you are just making skylines more hated? (And don't worry, its almost a guarantee that you'll drive through the main street of town making it release "because you like the wank off sound") Do you like it how women love the sound, get naked and dive into your car as you drive past? Do you think SAU will be happy about another "My car is running rough, I only installed a duck whistle, twisty whooshy twirly, dick pulling, sparkly fuleh sic wank off valve" thread They should create a database script that bans people that install BOVs "just for the sound" or complain when their car runs rough... I'm was running 300rwkw and had the stock BOV. Good luck with it though. -
The pump on the washer bottle has no where near enough pressure to atomise the mixture properly. Most WMI pumps are 150psi, with quite a few that are 200psi +. I've had the nozzle out and its like steam the mist is that fine. And thats how you want it - atomised to the shithouse for the best distribution.
-
What about the GTR IAT sensor? Its just a water temp sensor and I doubt it will be worried by WMI? But wouldn't methanol be a better cooling agent when in the pipe, not in the cylinder? And as I said in my post, the roles are reversed once they are in the cylinder and physics change?

Time for me to throw a spanner in the works. This is all just theory, so don't shoot me down. Hopefully we can all come to some sort of educated solution. One thing that I haven't seen mentioned yet is that pressure changes the boiling point on any liquid. I remember in chemistry that we made water boil at 25 degrees - By putting in inside a vacuum chamber, and creating a high vacuum. It also works the opposite way, like a pressure cooker, or a car radiator. If you put the system under pressure, the boiling point of the water is higher. So, we are talking lots of pressure here, which means the waters boiling point will be higher and it is much harder to turn into steam, most likely taking more heat out of the cylinder. But, there might not be enough pressure to turn it back to a liquid form. Can someone explain the characteristics of steam and compression? Is steamed h20 compressed as well as 02? If it isn't, that means that is like welding more meat into combustion chamber - that effectively raised compression. So if you have an uncompressible substance inside with a compressible substance, then the compressible substance has less room and is compressed more. And with the nature of the combustion, this is what we want right? 02 more tightly compressed, which will create a stronger combustion. But we are also slowing the combustion down because the H20 is getting in they way, not allowing the mixture to be burned so quickly, which is also what we want. A combustion that is too fast loses torque, and is more along the lines of detonation. Does any of this make sense? Also think about Hydro lock. The engine locks up because the compression is way to high, and it cannot turn over the piston. So if we have water in the cylinder, then we are effectively raising the compression, but I would think with WMI, it would be 2\10ths of f**kall. lol. Running a couple of extra PSI would do the same thing, but we actually want the water there so you wouldn't take the water away and run a few extra PSI anyway. We would run a ratio that works - the right balance of boost and water. Also, with the methanol. I think it is there to cool the inlet charge. Have you felt a mist of methanol over your hand? Its f**king freezing. Imagine methanol going at 10 times the speed in air flowing through a pipe. Of course it is going to run the inlet temperature down. Its doing the same as what an intercooler is doing. What we need is someone with a kit and an inlet temp sensor to do some tests. Test 1. Methanol only, car idling. Spray some in, see the difference in air temp. Test 2. Water only, car idling. Spray some in and see the difference in air temp. I can almost guarantee that the menthanol is going to lower the IAT's more. Once its on the cylinder, physics change, and it is actually going under pressure and being ignited. The roles could possibly be reversed because methanol can combust and create heat. Hope my ramble makes sense.

Just making sure that you understand that you just don't get any turbo and ram whatever boost you like through it. Also, don't bother upping your boost until you have your boost control sorted with a decent electronic boost controller like a Gizzmo, or something that is intelligent.
-
get a die grinder, and take off any hard edges, curves, or castings. I did it with mine. Apparently, when sending your manifold away for flowing, 80% of the flow is achieved with the die grinder, and the other 20% is achieved with extrusion honing. You can get similar flow to a Low mount HKS cast manifold if you and grind good and do it properly. Oh, and definitely get it faced.
-
Do you realise that this is a completely new engine, better compression, and the CAS is probably in a completely different spot? Did you just randomly pick those numbers? Do you know what boost the turbo is actually capable of producing efficiently?

300Kw Unopened 25 Club...
The Mafia replied to joeyjoejoejuniorshabadoo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
These are the people that annoy me. Never touched a spanner, laptop, or wideband, but all of a sudden know everything because their tuner \ mechanic talked a bit of shit into their ears to get their money. I've made mistakes, been mis informed etc, but I try and better my ways as much as possible. I've been tuning for years, and looking at tunes from some of the best workshops around I have been disappointed and I'm very glad that I can do it all myself and get a better effort, every time, for free. -

f**k, I already posted lol -
Get another tuner. Doesn't look like he knows enough to be telling you to change components that dont need to be changed. The injectors need to be changed.

Surge Tank Low Level Detection/monitoring
The Mafia replied to kitto's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Set it so that when the surge tank is low and dangerous, to cut the engine. Nto sure how but it seems to be a good solution. Hope you find a way that works! What ECU do you have? -
I finally got a chance to dyno tune my old setup, and fix up some issues with the previous tuners touch up. It only made 285rwkw before I fixed it up. Once I got a hold of it, I fixed up the fuel and gave it a bit more timing. 4 degrees extra and it jumped 20rwkw. Anyway, the torque was f**king awesome. Ignore the drop off at the end - The straps on Clapos dyno are fairly buggered and the loosened towards the last 2-3 runs, and you could feel the car loosing load and dropping boost because of this. The earlier runs held the torque and boost to the limiter. Anyway, here is the dyno plot. 820nm to the limiter feels very good under acceleration on the street. My mate is very happy with it.
-
I had a not bad experience with my old setup. RB25\30 Ported exhaust Ports Ported exhaust manifold GT3076 56trim, 0.6 Surge slotted Cover, 0.82 Int gate rear housing 256in/ex poncams No water meth Vipec Vipec Boost control kit Ignore the drop off at the end - The dyno straps were a little loose on the last 2 runs and the drop in load caused the boost to drop off a little meaning the torque follows suit too. Most runs it stayed flat all the way to the limiter.
-
I made a bit over 320rwkw on a 0.63 rear on a RB25 completely stock. 22psi. About 750nm of torque. Water meth though. I know the exhaust manifold pressures will be high, but I think the lower temps of the E85 should counteract this a little bit. Or I could be wrong. I reckon I could have got close to 350rwkw with E85 on that setup.
-
Why would the GTX3076 be a bad option then? I'd love an easy 360-370rwkw on E85. Maybe even get a little crazier and put a 0.63 rear housing on and see how it goes. 350rwkw with the launching ability to out pace a cruise missile over the quarter mile?

hey mate. Talk to Nur33, he has a very nice, completely unused Bolt on Garrett GT3076 turbo kit for the 350Z
