  1. yeah what these guys have said too - over run fuel cut, and also the cells on no load along the top of the map. I'm tired lol.
  2. If you have a Vipec and you're running a map sensor, then the ATMO BOVs shouldn't be a problem. I've never liked them because the cars were never designed to operate that way, but thats just me, I've always noticed cars run better with the plumb back ones on. But where there are heavy mods, it doesn't usually matter any more. Also, after clearing your cat, you might need a tune. When I mentioned the plugs fouling, that will only happen with ATMO BOV's and AFMs. But as I said earlier, with no cats, you will always get popping and flames, because the cats always block this. Its also how a cop can tell if you have not cat - because you are blowing flames. A smart one will simply hear it via the popping. Anyway, the short version - No cats = popping and flames.
  3. Having not cat will allow the popping and flames travel all the way to the end of the exhaust. The cat usually stops this and the sound. The other thing is, if you have an ATMO BOV, aw well as AFMs. This creates a rich condition on decell, and you will get this same issue, but more likely stalls and fouled plugs. The car will eventually start running like crap.
  4. sounds rich to me. Very much like R&R too.... put the boost on 9psi and I bet it goes faster
  5. did you use a turbo block and pistons or NA block and pistons? You haven't given much info. But a factory ECU isn't going to run a different capacity engine, and different turbo very well.
  6. Sell the car and buy a factory turbo car....... Million threads Million people saying they can do it but they never do because its too expensive and not legal... Anyway, /thread
  7. lol When testing on the dyno, we were ripping it up this idiot because he said he liked how the drift filter was blue. WIth it on - 500rpm laggier, less power With no filter at all huge difference Went to bin, grabbed a dirty f**ked K&n out, put it on, was no different to running no filter..... Drift filters are for drifters... and not the drifters that slide cars...
  8. oh, and 99% of the time they go away, and come back 5 mins later with a K&N filter in its place. Simple fixes.
  9. My List: Drift air filters Malapsi FPRs SARD FPRs Ebay Turbos Turbos that cannot be identified Cars that fail compression and leak down tests Happy now?
  10. pretty much on the same note - I have refused to tune many cars running a "drift" filter. there is 500rpm lag difference and under full load, I saw some massive differences in AFR. This was with a powerfc though. Anyway, this guy got off lucky!
  11. Was this with the factory Ecu untouched? No r&r?
  12. Oil is something I'd check overnight But going for a drive and 1L going missing even after sitting for 3-4 hours is something to investigate. Do you have a catch can?
  13. use this formula: mods: PowerFC, GT3037 Garret, 0.6 cpm Cover, 0.63 rear housing, 18psi, Nismo 555s, 3inch turbo back exhaust, 600x300x75mm intercooler, Split Fires, NGK BKR7E plugs, Water Methanol injection, 275ml min nozzle. fuel: Shell 98 power: 320rwkw, 720nm Torque @ 3200rpm oil: Shell Helix 5w40 fully synthetic useage: Every day lifespan: Lasted 4 years, until I decided to upgrade to RB2530. Engine was still 100% compression wise when sold. 165psi accross all 6 cylinders. failure: none comments: Was an awesome car to drive. I did all the tuning myself.
  14. hey mate, further to what GuiltToy said, try and picture this. I must say though, I am no expert, this was a very wild guess at what could be happening, and just an explaination on boost resistance vs flow. Remember, boost is evil, and flow is your friend. 26psi is where you were, and 20psi is where you are now. Remember, boost isn't how much air is flowing through your engine, its how much your engine is resisting it.
  15. I'm in my iPhone now but will explain the best I can. The head was never a major restriction, but when you think about it, everything is a restriction. At this point though, your head was the biggest restriction, and now that it flows better, you don't need to ram (boost) more air pressure into it. It just flows better. So, the air is flowing through the head with less resistance now, hence why you can make the same power on less boost. The air is passing through the head easier and more of it. Anyway, at 25psi, there is even more volume of air trying to get through now. But, since the head is allowing it, something else has to be holding it up. Lol this is always hard to explain. Find out what max of the exhaust manifolds is rumored to be, same with the intake manifold, same with your intercooler, and find the now new weakest link.
  16. I was thinking the same thing when I read that... ahahaha
  17. oh crap, I just read your post, lol. Sounds like your exhaust is up to the task. Wonder what else could be the restriction? It could indeed be the manifolds.
  18. Just thinking about this today - You have removed a large restriction in the head by adding larger better breathing cams, and moved the restriction elsewhere, or to the next restriction. Just remember, there is less restriction allowing more flow, which means more power with less boost. Make sense? Just because the boost is lower, it doesn't mean there isnt more gas passing from Air filter, to exhaust tip.
  19. You have the tools to rebuild an engine but how can you not own a funnel? Or at least a coke bottle with the ass cut off it?
  20. what he said lol. If you're going to get answers, then he's your man. I'll help as much as I can too. Sounds like you have really opened up the breathing in one spot to create a restriction in another. Sine the restriction is in another spot, you'll get different symptoms. Personally I think that when there is a restriction in the head (Cams, valves, general flow) then you just have an entire up or down on the power. If you have restrictions on exhaust manifolds, turbos, etc, you start to get weird symptoms, like unstable boost, interupted flow, etc. Its hard to explain in a few lines.
  21. And this is why my car ran awesome, and your car runs like shit. Plenty of people here who agree with my proven diagnosis.
  22. Ah man you are the biggest wanker I have ever seen post on this site. No wonder it's slipped over the years and te longer term users have no patience anymore. Bov issues have been mentioned by knowledgable people twice after me now, and lots I useful answers. You're a loser, time to put your head back up your ass and magazines. P.s I know exactly what open and closed loop is, f**kwit.
  23. Actually, I was just correcting the tool. He incorrectly stated that I had a tiny cock, most likely based in the assumption that most blokes manhoods are around the same size as his. I'm afraid to say, they are not. Hence he requires a loud BOV to extend his penis size. Makes him feel better obviously.
  24. My cock is huge, I don't need a bov to make up for it.
  25. Sounds very much like blow by. I'd take the car off the road now before you drop a ring land and put metal through the engine. Will make the rebuild heaps cheaper.
