  1. Having a blocked bov is just as bad - Nissan designed the car to have it there. If you, right from square one just left it plumb back, you would have saved time and money to have to tune out the massive air leak in the first place. So no, im not the dickhead. I'm the educated tuner that knows a MAF system is not meant to have any air escaping from any point past the air flow meter. Anyone that introduces this does not understand how it works, and just wants sound, just to be a dickhead. It's not performance enhancing at all. And don't use the crap excuse that the tuner "says its ok", you want it, so he'll do it and take your money. He'll even tell you it's ok. If he ever tells you that a MAF system is ok with a ATMO bov, find another tuner. A real tuner will still do it but tell you it's not ideal and go with a MAP engine management system. People ask me to make their car run better because it's stalling and carrying on - I do it because that's what they want. But certainly not a free tune. I also tell them that it is making a system not work how it is supposed to - and half of them choose not to keep the atmo bov because they understand and want their car to run perfect, and only put it on because some clown said it was better and they didn't know any better themselves. (we were all new at some point) So - whatever you want to do. But, doing it can only be for noise, and that means you're an attention seeking dickhead. And, ruin it for the rest of us because now cops hate skylines and pull them up just because of that - they are a skyline.
  2. No photos or cruises until my new rig is here lol
  3. Cost so far? Standard rb30 would still have been better...
  4. I think that having to tune your car and change your driving style, just to sound like a dickhead is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. It's a MAF system, it's not meant to have a Atmo leak in it. When are you people goin to learn? If you want to sound stupid, with your car sneezing all the time, get a MAP ECU But usually, people that are stupid enough to want to chance the bov just for sound dont understand how the air measurement system works...
  5. Very well done mate. My build was exactly the same except reused the standard pistons and put a set of new turbo rings in them. Didn't check them anally like you did, as I'm not as experienced. Anyway, it made awesome torque, but like you my VCT wasn't working. Had the same internal VCT mod. I also had 1.3mm restrictors though. Anyway, I got off easy and it was the VCT solenoid playing up. Once working, the extra torque on top of the 3.0L wow was even more! Keep at the VCT diagnosis, there is a fair bit to be had with getting it working. Once again, very well done. I think I spent about $2k all up rebuilding mine. But you're right - double what you think it's going to cost. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have - hopefully I can help.
  6. sorry guys, forgot about this. Here is the sticker on the box. Was the perfect alternator. I bought it for my RB30 block, but its a direct fit to the RB25 block too.
  7. Oh it's fact. You're just in the 2%.
  8. And use an iPhone or camera to take pictures of the timing mark on the harmonic balancer to mark sure that f**king dot is spot on. You can't get your head in there. Either that or move the aircon condenser up so you can look straight through. You can move I without disconnecting it.
  9. And still have that little shimmer of hope that a girl will hear it, strip naked, and dive into their car. (Hopefully before it coughs up a heap of black smoke and stalls)
  10. lol thanks. Just speaking from past experiences, and I'm happy to have been able to help.
  11. Does anyone realise that whenever 98% of the population hears a BOV, the first thought that goes throught their head is usually "wanker" or "dickhead"... lol
  12. You're wasting your time getting cam gears with Tomei cams, because tomei make them already set at their best position. If you get GTR re-grinds, definitely get adjustable cam gears. The user Dale_FZ1 has gone down this road with some great success. I still think there is something stupid wrong with your setup though, you should be making at least 250rwkw. Your Engine is capable of making 300rwkw set up correctly. And its safe to assume that RB20\25\25NA cams should be able to flow enough gas to get that sort of power. 200rwkw seems like too low of a wall. Anyway, for the best response, 256 Tomei are great. NIce fat mid range with the ability to spool a turbo quickly. Get someone to check your timing - someone that knows their shit. Can you get us a video of it breaking down or losing power? I want to hear it
  13. Please give us the exact CHRA number of that turbo, the housing sizes etc. Also, pending the turbo type, I can guarantee its either the cam timing or your engine is rooted.
  14. Lol. +10 is bad...
  15. I'll try and find the number, if not, I am going to see my mate (who has my old engine and alternator) on wednesday afternoon, and I can take a picture. I may have the box at home still so I'll look on that too in a couple of hours.
  16. I wouldn't bother calling nissan, they will want approx $1,000 for an alternator. And yes - Thats the OEM price. I got a bigger bosch that bolted straight on, and even come with a little plug adapter to allow the engine bay plug to convert straight to the alternator. It was literally plug and play. Took me about 15 mins to change. The factory one was 80amp and the Bosch one was 85amp. Held better voltage than the factory one. The bosch replacement was $280. Rebuilding\ Servicing your factory one will cost about $300. Waste of money.
  17. No one has commented on how almost any device will have a very short life pumping hot gas full of carbon. This will never work. I'm still surprised that amount of people trying to entertain the idea.
  18. It will have a fit and the car with do stupid shit. The xr6t is unable to have things like this done because the ECU protects everything. In other words, only way to raise boost is with an edit. Looks like he's going to learn the hard way. Tell him to put a big vent to atmosphere bov on there too.
  19. +1 for won't start. Great choice... GT35 on a stock RB25... Its going to go tick tick boom anyway. Good luck.
  20. oh, and B52 bombers ran a AFR of 15:1 on load with their water mix.
  21. I ran a constant 12.8:1 eventually with the WMI kit. Car laughed at it, and my fuel economy was pretty good under loads. You don't need the extra fuel when you have WMI. The extra fuel is there to cool down the charge and supress the burn to slow things down. Why put that extra fuel in when the water and methanol is doing that job instead? I was going to lean it to a further 13:1 eventually, but never got around to it.
  22. I don't agree. Setup properly on a RB25 you can use the 0.63 rear. I will admit that I was running WMI though. This was a quick 1 hour tune at 18psi, then I put it in a dyno day. Full boost at 3200rpm. All 18psi of it.
  23. Lol, poon cams
  24. I bet it is running as lean as f**k, mine did with the 25 tune in it. Stop driving it or get it to a tuner stat.
