  1. Its too close to be the wrong gasket. I think its a botched one.
  2. I shimmed mine 2mm, DaleFZ1 has done the same thing.
  3. Hi Everyone I have bought a cometic Triple layer steel gasket, and port number 4 doesn't line up on the head. There is about a 5mm offset. It also doesn't line up on the standard manifold either with the same offset, so it seems the gasket is stamped incorrectly? You can also see in the last pics, the first port is like the studs are too close together and is pushing the gasket up? (The studs are fine though) The manifold goes on perfectly onto the studs... Do you think it is a manufacturing defect? Surely cometic are higher quality than this? Can anyone recommend something better? I only want to be putting this manifold on once!
  4. I'd take 6 throttle bodies over 1 any day. The RB26 I think is a better designed engine. Fair enough it has cast pistons, but thats not the be all and end all. Its not all about power.
  5. Nice work mate - Be sure to let us know how it goes. lol, don't hold back duncan
  6. a GT3040 turbo is a shit turbo to start with for a drag car. I'd be looking at a 3540 or a GT40. a GT3076 is even better than a GT3040.
  7. It comes with the boost control kit mate. Not sure if you are supposed to use anything else. I am not sure what map sensor is used.
  8. I want to know also
  9. Did you fail badly in spelling or you're just lazy? You type the same way a 14 year old sends her best friend sms messages.
  10. interesting read...
  11. I've done this, but the car won't be on the road for a month or two yet. I'll you you all know how I go.
  12. Nissan quoted me $590 for that whole shaft. Thanks for your replies. Appreciated. Apparently there is aftermarket alternatives out there too.
  13. lol. Your clutch is rooted. Do you have a Vent to atmosphere BOV? That could also be the problem. Put the factory plumback on, and it will help. Puts less load on the clutch.
  14. This is the part I need. Has anyone ever sourced one from somewhere before?
  15. ok so I spoke to Jim Berry on the phone. Very surpised at what he said. here it is in point form: - Unles it is cracked, Do not change the standard Flywheel. - Do not change the weight of the Flywheel. The japs got it right and we will not like it at all, for the 20,25 or 30. (Knows about the 30 Hybrid. - The Standard nissan item is very strong and the talk about blowing them to pieces is a load of shit. He said only holdens and fords do that. Mr Nissan got it right apparently. Unless the guy that bolts it on removes the dowel, or doesn't bolt it up right. They are made out of good cast iron. - Chrome Moly Flywheels are shit and are too hard - Excedy have crap Centers and pressure plates on quite a few models (my model is one for example)
  16. So what size do you recommend for a RB25\30? Would a 6.5kgs be good for a daily driver?
  17. not much yet, I have the engine at home now. Got the exhaust manifold faced at my mates workshop, and just collecting gaskets. Does anyone have a recomendation on a Exhaust manifold gasket? I got Quoted $110 from nissan for a standard one.
  18. Hey Everyone I have a RB25\30 built, with a GT3037 turbo. I tune cars. I have a few question about my drivetrain. Gearbox: It looks like the hardening coating is coming off my Drive gear (4th) and 2nd gear. I have been advised to replace them or it will shit itself down the track. has anyone ever bought anything that is not genuine nissan? I have no idea where to start or who to talk to. I wouldn't mind looking at aftermarket options, and maybe some tougher gears in the early cogs, maybe first and 2nd, IF they can be had at a resonable price. Otherwise I'll just put fresh standards in. Flywheel: My Cast iron flywheel has a nice blue ring in the center due to heat. I have been advised to change it. Does anyone know any suppliers that have aftermarket ones at a decent price? I'm looking for something steel that is safer. Should I lighten it also? I've been told on the RB30 it won't suffer the same cons as bad as a RB25 or RB20 (Having less torque up hills etc). Can anyone share their experiences?
  19. Paulr33 is 100% correct.
  20. lol this is wrong for so many reasons.
  21. These two guys know what they are on about. I'd get them sonic tested, and then if one still flows more, put it in number 6. Put the second highest flowing one in number 5.
  22. Don't know if this is normal or not but I certainly don't let the car gain boost when it isn't at operating temperature. Also, you shouldn't be looking at the temp guage, but the oil pressure. When the oil pressure drops, that means your oil is hot enough to drive the car around normally.
  23. Just do what I did and order a set of Durapro Bolts. Cost me $50. Nissan quoted $180 for a set of standards.. The Durapro and Nissan bolts are the exact same torque settings. The engine builder said they may even be the same bolts.
  24. I've got a set of squirters if you want to buy them. Are they coated?
