  1. there is nothing wrong with the fuel cut. The Ignition cut is more harsh on the engine and will cause premature turbo failure, and blown gaskets. If you're gonig to say "Yeah but the injectors cut and can cause a lean condition" then you are absolutely wrong. The injectors cut after a full cycle, not halfway through. Injectors are spot on. And when you cut an injector, the cylinder is completely empty, therefore no explosive charge, and no detonation \ lean condition. BUT in saying all of this, if you have an aftermarket turbo, and good support systems, ignition cut is more fun
  2. RB26 is 20 degrees RB25 is 15 degrees RB20 - Not sure on this one so it could be anything. Might pay to find the sticker under the bonnet or look in a workshop manual?
  3. have you looked into the HKS T51R ball bearing? Mate had one on a supra, made 480rwkw and was full boost by 5000rpm in second gear. (bush bearing version) Ran a 10.81 with lots of traction loss. (Search FUS01 on youtube) Anyway, the supra had minimal mods - Haltek, Water Meth injection, FMIC, Injectors, EXhaust manifold and EX gate, and standard engine. Was extremely reliable, compression was still very high after a lot of drag runs. Damn toyota building bullet proof engines and greaboxes. Anyway, look into that, might be a good start. Have you dealt with the oil control issues of your engine?
  4. Why wouldn't it? If you're trying to bolt it onto the block, it won't fit. The only reason it wouldn't is because its too high (deck height is higher), but get $250 ebay greddy copy and you're in business.
  5. true, need a good battery, hot engine, and hold the throttlebody open when cranking.
  6. rofl, you're using a Machined out stock front cover on a GT3076? Thats madness. Throw it away and get real covers.
  7. thats pretty good, maybe even a little bit high for a RB26. My RB25 was 165psi across all 6, and its compression ratio is 9:1. THe RB26 comp ratio is lower so you would expect lower compression test results. As long as they are all equal or within 5% mate.
  8. under pressure, distribution of air is completly equal.
  9. what was the inlet temp? I find it hard to believe because a lot of dynos are too happy
  10. lol, you've removed your first post? What happened?
  11. haha yet there are so many people that start threads saying they have a "freak" and are making 190rwkw from a factory ecu, turbo, AFM, etc etc, and say that I'm jealous and shit because there car made so much power on the "dyno" they took it too.. Mate it is in your best interests to get yourself a fully tunable ECU. maybe even look into the Daughter boards that they are starting to supply for the RB25. I'd love to get my hands on one of those.
  12. make sure you hook a big trumpet up to it
  13. thats about 10 hours work. Sounds about right. The guy would do it in a good days work, and walk away with over $1k. As long as its decent work.
  14. well, at least you're not like the rest comnig here and saying that you want to put one on just for noise.. But still, the factory item is the best one for the application. I've said it many times, I'm running 314rwkw, and 20psi of boost, and mine still works fine. There is no reason to change it because the airflow meter requires it.
  15. I have a NA RB30 in the garage at the moment, I just pulled the head off and it looks nearly new inside. Its done 165,000kms. There are hone marks in the bore, everything is clean as, etc. Just curious - I have everything I need for a cheap rebuild RB25 DET Head RB30 NA block Side mount manifold (Greddy copy) GT3037 (making 314rwkw at 18psi), and have a spare 0.82 rear RB26 Oil pump (bought new from nissan about 2 years ago, done 20,000kms on a RB25) If I stripped the block, acid bath, new big and main bearings, RB26 oil pump, oil control mods, VCT lines, etc, and re-used the Standard NA pistons, would I be able to make about 320rwkw reliably? Or would I be better off grabbing a set of ARIAS forged pistons or something like that and setting the compression to 9:1 and using the standard rods? I still want to rev the engine to 7,000rpm. I'd love to build a 9,000rpm monster but that will just cost to much money, and the turbo runs out of puff anyway to make the power above that. Not after massive power, just good torque, and about 320rwkw in the top end, and a reliable engine. This will be going in the R33 GTS-T S2. the reason I don't want to go all out is I want to upgrade the entire car at some stage this year (towards the end) and don't want to pump a load of money into it for the next buyer to enjoy. But as long as it is reliable, then they are still getting as new car. Oh, and I am due for a 100,000km service and rebuilding the engine seems to be better than spending $1500 on the service alone.
  16. or idiots like yourself that don't understand why the car stalls in the first place?
  17. I hope you didn't pay the tuner..
  18. so did your old one break and you couldn't find another standard one, or did you just want to be fully sick uleh, and attract more unwanted attention of the cops, so they hate Skylines even more? If you install a ATMO bov on a Air Flow Metered car, you're a complete idiot and don't understand how an engine works, and shouldn't be allowed to drive a turbocharged car. Also, you didn't try to search, there is about 100 threads on this. Sounds a bit harsh but its all true.
  19. You're right nismoid. I work at a school, and I am allowed to look at sau etc while having lunch, or on a break. Problem is, its a religious school, and we can't have crap avatars floating around, some are just junk even if I am at home! And before anyone jacks up about being at a religous school - One of the Pastors here is a car freak, and races at the local drag strip often. So don't think religous people don't do this sort of sport. Oh and for those that don't know what a pastor is - its the equavalent to a priest (except they can have a wife and kids, etc)
  20. the next buyer is getting a nice deal. Couple of extra mods and it'll make an easy 280rwkw.
  21. mine on idle reads 14 volts. Strange. Nismo 275lph pump is so quiet I can't hear it.
  22. Gary, I tested my Powerfc a while ago and I am 90% sure they do away with the stepped voltage setup and run 14 volts full time. Can you confirm this?
  23. just leting you know that doing this will reduce the life of your engine by a significant amount.
  24. I'm pretty sure the R32GTR compression ratio is 8.7:1.
  25. even 520nm sounds high. Also, I had a 2.5inch dump pipe and that was a massive restriction.
