AND YOU, MY FRIEND, SOUND LIKE A F*KN BIGOT Also just on the defect issue.... 1st "if your car is unroadworthy and deemed illegal, then why are they assholes ???" then.. "some of the measures they go to get defects is utter b.s" Make up your mind, either that or become proficient in pulling splinters out of your arse. We all know of at least one person who has been defected for less than acceptable reasons. Maybe the cop was having a bad day, maybe their donuts were stale, or maybe their bribe wasn't enough. Regardless, any cops who defects a vehicle just because they feel like it/think it's the right thing to do, is an ARSEHOLE. PEROID! Bloody poms, we're everywhere!

As it was my 1st meeting, I'd just like to thank everyone who made the other half & myself welcome. I'm looking forward to the track days, cruizes, social events etc & meeting more like minded individuals.

High Flow Turbo, Then Detonation Problems......
yug_r34 replied to yug_r34's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The pcv valve is an emmisions device that it sucked open by vacuum in the plenum and it is blown closed under boost so under boost any blow by will go out the breathers anyway. BHDave, does this mean the boost will blow by & out the breather, into the turbo inlet pipe? Along with some oil? -

The turbo is being recoed by MTQ in Laverton Nth, we'll get it this afternoon. Not a bad price either, $580. I'll post what we've had to do to repair the turbo later. -

The PCV, is that on the inlet manifold? The bit that switches runner length? -

Thanks Sydneykid, I didn't think that the oil could cause so many problems, but what you say does make sense. I'll do what you've recomended. Originally we thought it was the turbo oil seal so we've pulled the turbo off for reco. Do you think we refit the turbo & try the catch can, suppose gaskets & a can are cheaper than a turbo rebuild. -
High Flow Turbo, Then Detonation Problems......

Ok, I know that the e-bay gear leaves a bit to be desired, but changing dump & manifold shouldn't cause all these hassles..... Can someone suggest where this oil is coming from, I think it's from the rocker cover as the hoses connecting the rocker cover & the turbo inlet pipe have oil in them. But what would cause oil to reach that far? Maybe blow-by & worn valve stem seals? Cubes: White smoke happens when on boost, hard accelleration, maybe oil seal on turbine? -
High Flow Turbo, Then Detonation Problems......

Hi all, Just hoping someone out there can help me with a problem my old man is having with his ST185. He's getting white smoke coming from the exhaust & we're not sure where it's coming from. His mechanic told him it was the turbo, but upon removal, we found oil between the AFM & the compressor inlet. A little background....... Dad bought his GT4 a year ago. Blew a little smoke, but not too bad, mainly on start-up. Turbo started leaking water behind exhaust manifold (in the end it was the water feed gasket). I suggested changing the turbo for a high flow one (corruption!) which he did, along with a s/s dump & exhaust manifold (the type you see on e-bay). Engine started detonating, which was tracked down to a cracked rubber hose between the compressor outlet & i/c inlet. Changed that & detonation still happens a little, but not as bad & above 4500rpm, but still not good. Ok, now for the questions: 1. Is the detonation because of the high flow? How do we fix it - programmable ECU, bigger injectors, etc.... 2. Where the hell is the oil coming from? I own a skyline GTR & I realise that with high revs some oil can make it's way from the rocker cover to the linlet duct, but the old man drives his GT4 like a volvo (ha ha ha) & this pretty much eliminates the possiblity of oil getting there under high revs. Like I said there is oil before & after the compressor & in the intercooler, but not at the throttle body. I'll post pics tommorrow to give you all a better idea of what I'm talking about. Help please......... Here's the AFM, the breather is between the AFM & the compressor inlet, so the AFM is getting pretty dirty. -

Good luck for thursday, I'm sure all will go well. Just out of curiosity, are you running a surge tank or in tank fuel pump set up? OK, just read the 1st page. Nice set up, no problems with fuel starvation that's for sure. -
Just Jap Engine Damper Kits For Skyline R32/R33
yug_r34 replied to Just Jap Racing's topic in For Sale (Business Traders)
Will the R33 GTR ones fit a R34 GTR? If not can you get these dampers to suit an R34 GTR? -
Have a search for the DIY RB26/30 link for some good advice on this subject.

Hi all, I'm currently making a surge tank for my 34 & wile I was measuring up, I had to remove the boot trim covering the ATTESSA reservior. I was looking inside the rear RHS guard & thought the previous owner had left after dinner mints in the boot. Ewww, old melted chocolate in my rear guard, what if they've leaked, how will I clean that up? A quick feel of the wrappers revealed other wise. I fished 11 of the bastards out of my boot. Proberbly the last owner's stash -definately not mine. Hope you get a laugh out of this, like I did.

National Code Of Practice
yug_r34 replied to JCMarshall_Law's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yep, already posted: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=107441 Not a good thing though. But from what I've read this might only apply to newly registered cars. ie if the car's on the road, no need to take it to Vicroads, just pay the rego every year. But....... if the Vic government bring in yearly roadworthies, like NSW, we could be in trouble. -
Yes, lets all don our "colours" & be proud. But bare in mind we don't need any "Orange 33" incidents to sour the whole thing.
-
Yes, I hadn't even considered repairs. Also the point you made re: not really benefiting the club is true too. It would just be spending money, doesn't matter whose money, with no benefit for the club apart from signage. Think this is gonna fall by the wayside.....nevermind.

Ok, I'll nominate my 34 for the VIC track car. Once I replace the flywheel.........lol Seriously, I've given this a bit of thought & how does everyone feel about a members "donation" from each state for their respective car. Once the car is bought is it possible to register it in the state clubs name, eg: Vic Club buys car & registers it under SAU - VIC? State pres. would proberbly know if this is possible, Snowy?, also if we have enough members in each state to fund a car purchase, if not then maybe one car for SAU as a whole. Just for figures.... $10000 car with 100 members is $100 donation/member. I realise everyone would like to spend their hard earned on their own car, myself included, but I'd like to think we have more than 100 members in each state, so $100 is just a guesstmation. With the car purchased, it's up to the sponsers in each respective state (if we have enough sponsors) to see what can be done with parts, etc. Leave it up to contributing members to decide which car & what direction the car goes (drift/drag/track). Who drives it?.... well I haven't got that far yet. Maybe state pres? or member nominated driver? or club championship winner from previous year? Dunno....... Just food for thought people.....

Hi All, Just a heads up for everyone who is doing, or going to do mods on their cars. This might effect the RB25/26/30 combos we'd all like to do, as well as RB into 200SX, etc, etc.... But that's just the tip of the iceberg, fuel systems, exhausts, chassis strengthening, the list goes on. Have a read & bear in mind that it's not law yet, it's just a draft (from what I've been told). But it is an indication of things to come...... PDF files at the bottom of the page. http://www.dotars.gov.au/transreg/vsb/vsb_ncop.aspx EDIT: While I'm not completly opposed to rioting or blocking the pollies in parliament house with our cars.....
