  1. If I have to get it out I will get a house and a mate to help I know that I have the wright engine loom for the ecu that's in my car now, it's just that it's in the other car
  2. I thought u did say that a couple of time alwready sorry. Sharon proposing is to change the whole loom out of the 97 and into my 96 that way the plugs will be the same just as it was in the 97 when it was running
  3. what im proposing to do is change the big plug wand the loom that goes infront of the battery back to the controllet, that way i dont need to use the old plugs and loom that are on the car now just replace it. what it das look like is thats not the ecu harness from the drawring on post #12 so maybe there is a A/T controller under the seat. If there is i will replace it also and go from there. mate i would love to put a gtr box in this but i bought this car for the missis and she cant drive manual. atleast it was a good excuse that it was for the missis lol.
  4. The mechanic had to swap cables around on the crank position sensor when they put in the new ecu to make the engine run, the car is drivable but the auto transmition dasent work I change the gears manually by hand, also if I give it a bit much it sort of jerks like a flat spot but a big one. What shits me is the mechanic could have tallied me when he had the engin out and that would of made my life eAsier. See when I get home today I'll try to bell the cables out from the connector in the engin bay that comes from the gearbox And see if it's going to the ecu. I know that the 97 was working ok before so maybe the full swap be the best guarNtee that it might work, if I swap the ecu to the old one im still left with the gearbox wiring that will nead to be changed but if I change the engin harness from the 97 and put it in the 96 I wounght have to touch the wires coming from the transmission. What do u think mate
  5. OK what happened was i needed to get the timing belt done and found out that i couldn't get the harmonic balance off due to the previous owners spinning the key way and put lock-tie on the shaft.. The car has 240000km on the meter but from what you telling me it seams someone already changed out the engine and transmission. By the time i finaly got some cash together the lifter were making shit loads of noise the gearbox was rough as all shit and you could hear the car from 10km away and that's not due to the exhaust. So i went to skyline spares in wetherill park and asked him for a motor and gearbox for my car and he quoted me $2500 out of a 97 stagea rs4 that was siting outside (someone rolled it on the passengers side right off but good for spares). I asked him how much for the whole car and was quoted $3500 so i bought that instead. Bloody happy that i got the whole thing now cos I'm pinching parts from it left right and center. To sum it all up im pretty sure the old gear box is buggered. I'm a sparky by trade and have no problem rewiring the harness or replacing it. With this gearbox the cables that come from it to the engine bay are just in thous 2 plugs. i love to know if thats all the cables that should run to that gear box or do they come out of the harness before the engine bay. If I do replace the whole ecu harness will i need to take the engine and tranny out or will i be able to get around them? Also as a funny point my fule guage was not working so i thought ill get the new one out of the spare car, got it out and realised that the fuel pump in my car is half the bloody size of the one in the new car which is the original one. Swapped them out tonight and god dang did it make shit loads of difference. Happy days i can see this car putting a big smile on my face and most likely loosing my bloody license lol. Thanks a lot for the help guys, I realy apreciate it. I just cant afford going to mechanics and autoelectricians any more so any info is really appreciated.
  6. k the one out of the 97 thats in now is 0V300 My old one that is out now is 0V310 this starting to sound like im going to have me some fun and maybe will have to swap the harness around
  7. ok hear the story now, the 97 model that i have was a series one. The problem is that the transmission in my car came with more cables/plugs that the one out of the 97, The mechanic could only plug in 1 plug into the harness going to the transmission this is the dark/gray plug in picture IMG_0445.JPG . The other plug which is gray/white in color was the only other plug coming from the transmission to the engine bay were they connected. Now on my 96 I have around 5 plugs that use to be connected to the transmission harness wich can be seen in IMG_0446.JPG . The mechanic tryed to bucher the plugs and found most of the same color cables that were needed for the new 7 terminal plug in amongst those 5 plugs. Once he terminated them it realy didnt doo anything, what I was thinking is if i change the automatic transmission controller unit on my car with the one out of the new car and then rewire the harness to the point of termination in the engine bay hope fully it will work. the only problem is that all i can find are manuals for r34 and r33 skylines nothing really for a stegea so i cant find the location of the automatic transmission controller unit and I'm starting to wonder if its incorporated in the ECU ( the location on a skyline is in the right hand kickboard of the drivers side). The mechanic already swapped the ECU with the 97 one. also as far as the a/t gearbox on the plates it says the same thing RE4R01A so i wonder maybe if there is something else missing or maybe did the othere plugs go somewhere else instead of the transmission.
  8. enjoy guys I managed to find this the other day http://bagpuss.swan.ac.uk/200sx/manuals/skyline/ it has the service and workshop manuals plus abit of electrical schematics

  10. gd guys can some one please tell me the location of the Automatic transmission controller unit on a 1996 stagea RS4 thanks
  11. I'm going to get the car back on Friday now, am its not a tiptronic from what i remember and I'm pretty sure was a series 1 but will find out on Friday and will post it up. to replace the whole engine loom and the ecu sounds like a bit of work, im an electrician so maybe i will be able to do it my self any idea were i can get a wiring schematic by any chance. also yes i am polish
  12. Gd guys I'm having a bit of a problem, i just replaced my engine and auto transmission with an engine and auto transmission out of a 1997 stagea RS4. Now the guy at the wreckers said that they will be able to swap straight away but i managed to have a small problem. My 1996 transmission came with 4 electrical plugs but the new box came with 2 so can some one please tell me 1. is it actual possible to run this transmission in my car 2.were can i get some electrical drawings or schematics about how to re terminate the plugs I managed to buy the whole 1997 RS4 from the wreckers so maybe would it be easier to swap the the electrical harness over or the computer and at controller. I'm going to get the car back today supposedly i change the gears with the shifter so ill be able to drive it home once i got it ill get the transmission model and post it up hear. Thanks guys
