  1. Yeah i get that it takes time to get the work done and these guys are pretty good, so there is a fair backlog of work. Im just frustrated about not having my car and the amount of fartarsing around that the insurance agency doing. Argh! I just want my car back :'(
  2. i thought i just had a good vehicle... hahaha pain in the arse with insurance though. They have had it a week already, been assessed by them as repairable. Sent to a smash repair, they now have to write up a quote which they cant do until friday or possibly monday. That will then take 2-3days to be processed by the insurance agency. After that, if it is decided that it is repairable it will take approx 2 and a half weeks to get the damage repaired. Now i work as a cook, if it took me a month to get someone their steak, they would be pissed off!
  3. Only recently i had my R33 s2 gt-st stolen from out front of my house. It was found two days later and two suburbs over. I have it back now and it is currently being repaired on insurance. What are some of the things i should look for damage wise? I have taken a look at wheels, tyres etc. How do i check to see if they have f**ked the engine and/or turbo? Looks clean from the outside, but the ignition unit is missing and now it wont start. Front bar is damaged, they hit a pole and buggered up the drivers side. Bonnet was damaged. I am impressed with my vehicle though, it managed to outrun a highway patrol. Cheering about that, the highway patrol car blew up trying to keep up! But not happy about my car and plates being known to every copper this side of sydney, gonna get pulled over even more now!
  4. If i can get the time off work im in. Will be my first.
  5. talked the mechanic into doing it for 300. So i still went with him. He used NGK double platinums???? Goes like a dream! No more stutter, extra peformance ect etc im still thinking i got a little ripped off, but he also tightened my hand brake, replaced a tyre in the cost.
  6. i have no idea what they are referring to then in regards to leads. They usually let me watch and ask questions there, so i might take it to them anyway for the first time and see how they do it and ask my myraid of questions and take it from there!
  7. they were gonna do all fluids, plugs and leads, all filters, all flushes and some other things. i think haha. got some prices for plugs, bosch platinums 6/78 and champion iridiums 6/150, that was from repco. Might head to supercheap tomorrow before i do anything. from what i have been reading, the only reason to use platinums is because of their increased life, yeah? other than that it will giuve the same result as coppers? with all this help ill be able to save myself some significant dough
  8. cheers guys, sorry to hijack your thread Krazy
  9. im not a mechanic, gonna say this right now lol, so i can say some dumb things. i can and have serviced vehicles before (but never a turbo), but the turbo pipe????(i think haha) running over the engine block baffles me and i did not want to take it off and put it back myself just in case i buggered up. So i took it down to the mechanic for a check up and book in for a service. They want to charge me 440 for a major service using platinum plugs, or 240 using standard plugs, im guessing coppers, but after reading this im not sure if its worth the extra money? I have an R33 GTST at 84K with stock boost. The reason for the major service now is that i dont have any paperwork for the car ie. service history.

  12. Hey guys, I dont often post on forums and may have jumped the gun a bit by posting question before introducing myself, my bad. Just picked up a new R33 (well new to me anyway ), red in colour and a good clean sounding engine. 84k on the clock and no major dings, bends or scratches. Live in sydney and the real name is Matt. I was also wondering, does anybody else here work weekends and cant make it to the cruises? cause it would be nice to have one on, say a monday?, i wanna see all these cool cars you guys have and talk about Will post some pics as soon as i get some good ones
  13. I have come down to canberra to visit some family and a mate told me it would be a good place to find a mechanic to check out my new skyline. Anyone got any suggestions?
  14. Sorry guys, went right over my head that i should have mentioned that. duh! Im in Sydney.
  15. I got some advice saying that a heat shield will be sufficient. Is this not true then?
  16. hmmmmm........what to do now? do i conceal it and hope it passes or go for a standard air box?
  17. Hey guys, As can be ssen im new on here, so hi. I just picked up a nice '95 R33 GTST and it has a pod filter. I am under the impression this is a defect possible mod. How can i fix this without putting a stock air filter on it? Will a heat shield from autobarn work? Or will i need a new box to cover the pod? Any help is greatly appreciated and if this is in the wrong place or there is already a thread on here about this topic, a link would be great. Cheers guys
