  1. mine isnt so much a whirr, like a growl
  2. So a little growl just above idle for a few minutes is normal? will it quieten down with age? Is this the same for the hum/whine when it is warm? Thanks
  3. Hey guys, I am having the same issue ....HOWEVER, my 96 R33 GTST (100km covered), was due for a timing belt, especially as I only just got the car a few months ago and didn't know if its been done. I bought a timing kit, had it fitted, and within 2 weeks I am getting a whirr/growl from top of timing cover, the noise only happens a few hundred RPM over idle and goes when revved higher, I have noticed that the growl goes once its warm (after a few mins) but have also notice when quite hot... I am getting a high pitched groan/moan from the same area. Is the idler bearing shot? or tensioner? or is it just a noisy belt? My other concern is that the tensioner has been set too tight and its worn the bearings ... is this possible? Note, The noise wasn't there before the timing belt was done. Muchly appreciated if anyone else can shed some light? Andy
  4. Hey guys I went to a few body shops today and they aren't happy about rolling the lip, they say the paint will split, However one place (mainly deals with high end vehicles.. porsches etc) Say that on previous cars they have cut the lip off and treated them so they don't rust, what do you guys think? Andy
  5. Mine are definately ET20 offset, I'm actually thinking of selling them to pay for coilovers, then I will buy wheels again in a few months. (8.5's's front and 9.5's rear next time with a different offset) The rims are further out than the widest point on the wings so I think this may still be a no go? If I put the camber to -2.5 or 3 wont it rip through tyres ?? and tram line like hell (follow grooves in road etc)? Thanks guys ! Andy
  6. What do you mean Alex? and yes I think I will save up for a coilover kit.... damn and I swore I was keepin the R33 standard :s Andy
  7. ^ hey Hamish, Nice front end too , have you fitted camber adjusters? also how much is that lowered by and using which kit? thanks! Andy
  8. Coilovers are minimum £600 - so may be a couple of months before I have that £ spare yes 9.5 all round, they were on a special deal or I woulda got 8.5's on the front. Andy
  9. I've done about 40 miles on em so they wont take em back, or I would swap em today. I think 245's are the way to go, wish I had spotted a post like this 2 days ago haha. 1st things 1st, camber adjustment! Andy
  10. ^^ OMG that looks amazing. What tyres are you running on the rear? I'm based in the UK currently, I may be able to get camber adjustment kits locally and fairly inexpensive - Around £140 for the set, but how much camber will take in the top of the wheel by 1 or 2 cm? I am pricing up some 245/40/18's now, gutted as I have just forked out for the 265's. Thanks for the help and pics guys, much appreciated! Andy
  11. Hey Alr33x ^ that's serious money which I just haven't got, coilovers are megabucks. Andy
  12. Pics attached so you can see what I mean... the last 2 pics show my concerns! Thanks guys Andy
  13. Jovejoejoejuniour - that does look sweet... yours look fine, mine stick out further... pics within the next hour. BTM - not altered camber at all, new to skylines and in the past I have just thrown wheels on cars without altering annything When you say guard rolling, do you mean pulling the arches out?? out just rolling the lip in, they are further out than I might be able to resolve .. I mean I can see my tyres through my side mirrors HEKT1K - I really want these wheels so if its fairly cost effective I will keep them alr33x - I know about the monstrous tyres - but, I have bought and fitted them now besides they look right on the wheel, narrow ones woul look odd. Thanks guys . Andy
  14. Hey guys thanks for the replies.. I will post a photo or two tomorrow, even the wheels are further out than the arches, let me know what you guys think after you see the pics. I may just sell them cheap to someone with a GTR, the tyres have only 30 miles on them and the wheels were brand new out of the box today. thanks. Andy
  15. Hi guys, I have just bought some 18", 9.5" Wide Alloy Wheels for my Skyline R33 GTST (facelift) The offset was ET20.... this I think is where I went wrong, they look huge on the car which is fine, however they stick out by about 1 or 2 cm (wider than the arch), so no chance of lowering it any more. I am guessing they are meant for a skyline GTR as these have wider bodies.??!?! So now, I have a brand new set of deep dish 18's , with brand new 265/35/18 tyres... and I think I will take them off to go back to standard. Any suggestions guys ? Andy
