  1. Yeah after doing a bit of research myself they usually would do it on the head gasket surface And thanks for your input it is greatly appreciated
  2. Its all good did some searching on Google and it called a Rockwell hardness test so Im gonna take my block down to plr and see what they have to say
  3. Yeah i know what it looks like Normally you hear of cylinder heads going soft and warping on engines with overheating issues from heating up and being onealed time and time again. My engine didn't have a over heating problem but i figured if this can happen to a cylinder head then no doubt it could happen to the cylinder walls by being run hard and then cooled many many times. I just don't want to spend the money on getting the cylinders, main tunnel and get the deck machine if I've got soft spots in say 2 of the cylinders If i can get something like a hardness test done it would put my mind at ease before i get the block machine
  4. Hi peeps i tried doing a search. Just a few questions Im gonna be doing a engine build and would like to know how i would know if I've got any soft areas in my cylinder walls, i think there is a special tool i could get because 2 or 3 years ago i did some work experience with plr engine reconditioning and the owner there used one of these tools on a cylinder head, it would be good if someone can tell me what this tool is called. A picture of one of the cylinders. I know its in pretty bad nik and definatly need a hone but i just need to know whether they got soft spots Thank in advance

  8. Just this weekend i removed some of the sound deadener off of the floor of the car I've done where the back seats go and some of the driveline tunnel and im yet to do in front of the front seats which im gonna hopefully do next weekend
  9. Yeah im not too worried about the money its just that im paying two car loans and a lot of other small debts at the moment. The good thing is both car loans will both be paid 1 month apart from each other. Just a matter of me prioritising what's more important at the moment
  10. I started to take apart my engine to see the condition it is in after many km's of thrashing
  11. This is a ongoing build of my r33 Gtr, over the past year I've been dismantling my car with a sight for motorsport. at this point in time im short of funds as i am still paying of the loan i original got to get the car so at this stage ill just post what I've done so far and when i start getting parts ill keep yous updated of my progress. This is my car The first thing i wanted to do was remove the engine and gearbox so i spent most of a Saturday removing parts like the radiator, hoses, alternator, starter motor, and loosening the bolts for the bell housing and engine/gearbox mounts and took out the front propeller shaft and left/right drive shafts. the next day i separated the release bearing from the clutch and took out the engine using my older brothers engine crane that he used for his 68 camaro. so out came the Engine
