  1. Hey Matt, so far the service cost at the dealership is pretty reasonable. Some dealership charges abit extra for the better 5W30 oil but the Nissan dealership in Manukau's standard service includes the 5W30 oil and is below $300. They also run a computer diagnostic on the car and gives me a report on anything.
  2. Hi everyone in New Zealand, just thought I will check with everyone on where you usually send your car for service? I have been sending mine to the Nissan dealerships in North Shore in the past but it's a bit too far away for me, so have tried the Nissan in Botany and the last service I did was in Nissan Manukau (new dealership who is currently sharing the workshop with Holden). They seems to do a pretty good job but price and the service included in a standard service varying slightly. The one at NS and Manukau tends to do just a standard service but the engine oil used is different. NS uses 10W40 as standard and upgrading to 5W30 requires additional cost while Manukau uses 5W30 as standard. The dealership in Botany charges abit more but included in the service is a result of the on-board computer diagnostic. I have also sent my old v35 to Mag and Turbo. They claim that they know the car very well and even suggested that I upgrade the oil to 5W30. Their service was OK. They changed my brakepads once which causes the brake to squeal quite abit in the morning which they claim is normal when the brakes are cold although I am not entirely convince. Anyway, reason for the post is just to see where everyone usually send their car for a service and how is the service in these workshops. Thanks!
  3. I always used RON98 on my 350GT in the past. Had to pump RON95 into it a couple of times when I was out of town and couldn't find a station with RON98 and noticed that the engine tends to be abit more sluggish. Anyway, the manual states that premium fuel should be used and I think I recall reading somewhere that premium fuel is basically at least RON97 or more so I always put RON98 in and have done the same for my 370GT.
  4. Hello everyone... not too sure how active is this thread nowadays but just trying to keep it alive and also give an update on my car..... After weeks of waiting, I finally got my car last week! Took awhile longer than expected particularly due to the need to Compliance being a little too petty on the car's tyres which to me still looks pretty ok and has decent thread but compliance was saying the tyres is not in good condition due to a bit of cracks in the front tyres due to its age (the tyres were stock Bridgestone Potenza tyres). Anyway, took awhile for me to decide which tyres I want and another couple of days for the importer to get the tyres I want. Had a bit of a problem getting the same stock tyres size so had to move to a slightly wider set which is common for the v36. The importer initially ordered some Nankang NS-20 which I didn't want after reading some reviews of them online. So he next recommended some Nitto Invos which I liked. The reviews of the tyres were good and the thread pattern is very nice! Took a couple of days for the tyres to arrive and once that is done, the car is ready for collection! Got the car serviced by Nissan in Botany and after a week of driving the car around, I gotta say the V36 is really awesome to drive!! The Nitto Invos tyres are a joy too as they are really really quiet on the road! The car feels very "European" and with the Type SP, I do get quite a bit of extras over my previous V35 coupe. The music box, bluetooth and compact flash options is awesome as far as music is concern! So far definitely enjoying the car. Still have a few things I am planning to do to the car but apart from that, touch wood, the car is as good as I can ever hope for! Things ideally I want:- 1) Install bandwidth expander - Saw a few deals going on before in 0800 Best Deals through Grabone. Anyone has used them to install an expander in their v36? Russell, have you done yours? If not has anyone used someone else to do it and how is the quality of their work? 2) Alloy wheel repair - One of the wheel has some paint stain on it. Seems like the previous owner has scratched the rim and has attempted to touch up the scratch with a wrong colour paint and just left it there after finding out he got it wrong! 3) Wait for an English conversion for the v36 to be ready and get the conversion done. 4) Install some reverse and front sensors - car has reversing and side camera which is awesome but won't mind having some sensors installed especially for the front. I have started to see more and more v36 sedans around in Auckland but haven't really seen any v36 coupes out there. I think I only seen one heading south on the motorway and one sitting in a car yard near Parnell once and that's about it. Is there any V36 coupe owners out there? Anyway, do hope the NZ contingent stay active in the thread and share their experience as a proud Skyline owner.... Cheers!
  5. Well, as long as it's not saying i need 2 replace something, I am happy for it to be on anyway!
  6. I have no idea as well! I am not sure if the symbol was there when I first got the car and turned the air conditioning on. When I did notice it, it was there already and had always been there. Anyone has the same symbol? It does seems to have a little "on" on the symbol so I assume it's just saying the ioniser is turned on rather than saying the microfilter needs replacing or anything.
  7. Thanks Paul! Is there a way to turn it off? Thanks!
  8. Hi guys, just wondering what this symbol means when i turn on my air cond in my v36? Is it some ioniser function? Thanks
  9. I can get the music and I can play, stop and change track on the steering control. Don't need to do it from the phone.
  10. Hi guys.... not too sure if everyone has found a way to play music from your phone via bluetooth but I had a bit of a play with it yesterday. I initially got my phone connected and can make calls but had trouble getting the system to play music from my phone. After some trying, I found out that it's because the system is set up to play music from the car's japanese owner's phone. I think all you need to do is to go to your bluetooth setting and select the right handset. I tried this and noticed that there are 2 phones setup with the previous owner's phone selected. So all i did was to select my phone and then delete the previous owner's phone from the list and I can now play music from my phone.
  11. Yeah.... unfortunately just read this post today after I got my car! Lol!
  12. Hey guys, I have a question. I notice my car has the same panasonic digital tuner and from the tuner, there are 3 av plug-ins (usual red, yellow and white) which says AV in. However, I noticed that I don't have the 3 AV inputs in the center glove box although there are 3 holes underneath the japanese phone jack. Any idea if this is common and can I use the AV in from the tuner to run something to the car's monitor? Thanks!
  13. Hey loz-tuned, I think I have a panasonic digital tv on my car too! Any luck in making this work here? Thanks!
  14. Yes, will these pads fit into a 2008 V36 coupe Type SP? Are the brakes for the v35 similar to the v36 coupe? Thanks guys!
  15. Thanks Andrew! So this is for the bigger pads for the 4 caliper brakes in the Type SP? $100 seems very good price!
  16. Hi guys, I m just wondering what brand and type of brake pads that you use to replace the pads for a v36 type SP coupe. Apparently what we have a pretty high performance "special" pads which cost around nzd800 to replace. Is that true? If not, what is the usual price? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
  17. Hi guys, just to confirm, do u guys need spacers for 245/40 front and 275/35 rear? Apparently the tires arrived n my import agent is now saying the front need a smaller profile.
  18. Yeah.... those pavements are scary!! Saw a clip on youtube the other day on a guy saying it's almost impossible to avoid the alloys scratching for the g37. At least I will have the side camera to help.... Anyway, anyone else with different tires measurements used? At this stage from what I see, changing the front to 245/40 is causing quite a bit of speed variance (apparently 0.95% slower). The back going to 275/35 seems ok.... would seems that 255/40 instead of 245/40 gives a better speed accuracy and diameter variance. Anyone has tried a 255/40 front and 275/35 rear before?
  19. Hey Geoff, don't think there is much 235/40 around.... closest I have seen is 235/35..... At this point looks like it's gonna be 245/40 front and rear or 245/40 front and 275/35 rear.....
  20. Thanks Sam! That's good to hear as import agent said without looking at the car and tyres, he was not too sure if the new set will fit. Those front 225/45 tyres are just a mission to locate! I have been searching high and low.... I can find some pirelli ones but they don't come with matching 245/40 for the back! And they cost quite a bit too! $600+ each! At this stage, I will probably go with Nitto Invos.... from the reviews online, they seems pretty good. I can see merit in both using just 245/40 front and rear or switching to a 275/35 rear..... so will have a good think about it. Ideally will want to stick with a staggered setup which is what the car was suppose to have but just note about 0.95% diameter variance at the front and 0.52% variance at the rear which seems to be below that 3% safety variance.
  21. Thanks n15mO! Had that little problem with my new set of 19 inch wheels to the point I was considering swapping my v35 Pro-Drive forged rims which are 18 inch into the new car.... love those rims so had thought about that for awhile.....
  22. Hi all, another question due to my tyres. Can a type SP coupe uses 18 inch mags and tyres? Sorry if this has already been answered. Just need a quick answer as i need to get back to my import agent tomorrow morning. Thanks.
  23. Thanks Colin! Anyone with a v36 coupe running on same size tyres? Thanks!
