  1. I agree that if comparing the v35 and v36 purely on its sedan form, I do agree that the new v36 looks different from the v35. I don't mean the v35 is not nice, but yes, the v36 does looks better. And as mentioned earlier, the additional goodies they had added to the car makes the v36 a better choice. However, from just a pure styling perspective for the coupe, i don't think there's too much difference between the v35 and v36 especially in terms of exterior looks and i think the v35 has aged pretty well with so many ppl today still saying it's a nce car and thinking it's brand new. Interior wise, it's still looking very modern for me except that it will do better with more goodies loaded into it!
  2. Hmmm.... interesting arrangements you got there mate! anyway good 2 have mates to do this kinda deal for it as I suppose it's gonna be pretty good rates consider it's mates rates! And yes, last thing I want my car to look like is some silly "boyracers" too! That's also the main reason I was saying I m not too keen to do much modifications to the car esp. those cosmetic ones! Anyway, i m planning to sort out my reverse sensors this weekend as I've found a seller / installer near where i stay who does it. I've got an option to add 2 more sensors for the front. You guys think it's a good idea? I m actually more concern of the back coz with the coupe, you can't really see how far you are from an object at the back. Next is probably the stereo's bandwidth expander from the place in Onehunga that Dave recommends.
  3. yeah, definitely agree the car looks very nice now! As for the tyres, they do look really wide! I think mine is only 225 at the front and 245 at the back. Is the wheels 19" or 18" coz the tyres are saying 18" right? So the rims came with tyres? Mind disclosing how much you got them for? Anyway, do update us on development in terms of the decision to lower the car or not! Personally, i like the car to be as it is now although I know you are saying the picture is deceiving. Reason for this is i just hate the sound of the bottom of the car scratching against the ground when I am going through a bump.
  4. Hey X, the 19" rim looks good on the car mate! Yeah, with bigger wheels, the car definitely looks much sportier! Anyway, always love the Vs side view. What brand of rims are those and where did you get them from? So what tyres are they on now? The car looks good now. Dunno if lowering it will make it any nicer though as I think it looks really good in it's current state.
  5. Dave, sounds like Hankook is a good choice. My friend and a guy from the tyre shop also recommended me the brand together with Kumho. Will see if I can find a good set for my wife. I did saw the other day a set of bridgestone ones (I suppose it their more entry level range) being almost the same price as Supercat so I was thinking of getting that for her. The thing is the March seems to have this odd tyre size that is harder to find. Trademe only has those chinese brands for that measurement. Seems odd to hear the Turanzas lasting such a short distance. I was using bridgestone tyres before in Malaysia (perhaps 4 years ago) and I recall them being really good and lasting. 25,000 km is definitely very low! I've tried Goodyear b4 too. They are good tyres but I do agree they are not as quiet as the Michelins and Bridgestones. I've tried before a brand called Barrum which is pretty good for the price but haven't seen this brand here b4 in NZ. The worse tyres I've used are Silverstones (i believe they are a Japanese / Malaysian brand). Didn't last long and was really bumpy and noisy. Anyway update me on how the B390s go after you have had them on for a bit longer. My Potenza is looking very good still now, but i guess it's good 2 start surveying for a replacement since we are on the topic now!
  6. Hey Ray, yeah, there is a really really minor slight difference in the touch-up paint compared to the original colour which the person in CarColors has already told me about due to the clearcoat I have. However, the difference is really minimal and because the location of the scratch is at a really hard to spot place of the bonnet, you can't really see it. He did advice me to get a clear coat for the reverse sensors if I were to spray them before installing them on my car. So all in all, I am actually quite happy with the results and the paint will stop any rust on the exposed area!
  7. Yeah... glad to have sorted the paint... Anyway, i think i've used that calculator b4 when I was trying 2 find a set of mags for my Atenza which in the end, i decided to settle with an original 17" as I couldn't really find one set of aftermarket ones that I like with a small budget. Hey Dave, the new set of 17" wheels looks great. I have to say the 16" stock set looks decent as well! If you are going to stick with the 17" on the Cefiro, I am sure you can get quite a bit of $$$ on trademe selling the 16" Can't see the details from the pictures but the 16" looks to be in pretty decent condition still! Talking about tyres, what tyres are you all using currently? My fren's subaru is using Hankook and they are pretty good. My car currently has the stock Bridgestone Potenza which I think are great especially on smooth roads. My wife's little March is currently having a set of Bridgestone snow tyres. They pass WOF easily even with the new regulations but I am just keen to get her a set of better tyres. Someone was recommending me a set of Supercat tyres which they say are pretty good tyres for their price.
  8. Well, here's my 2 cents worth on things, seeing there's so many of us debating on the topic here.... I have my v35 for a week+ now and personally, I just love it! And everywhere I go, I have people asking me about the car and if it's a new car or not? So in terms of design (especially the exterior), the car's design is way ahead of its time (mine is a 2004 S2 model). Including in this group of people commenting is actually someone who knows about cars as he is someone working in a car paint shop who seems to have good understanding on cars. Interior wise, I have to say, the S2 interior with the aluminium finishing looks great and a big improvement to the S1! In terms of gadgets, I agree that the car may not have all the gadgets for a sports coupe of today (eg. cruise control, settings for suspension, paddle shift) but in terms of purely just looks, I do think it's again ahead of many cars of its age and still looks good today. So all in all, I don't agree that the car is not aging well. In fact, it is still so beautiful that many who see the car today still looks stunned. As for the v36, it's definitely a refinement of the v35 but in terms of exterior looks, i don't thing there's really too much difference between the 2 for the coupes to really shout about. The sedans however, I agree the v36 looks nicer. As for interior, I think the v36 packs much more new gadgets but honestly, the way the sat nav tv is set up on the centre console is not as nice as what i hope for and I probably prefer the S2 v35 looks more with the sat nav tv popping up when needed. Just my humble opinion though.... but if someone give me a v36, I'll take it simply because of the additional gadgets I'll be getting! And yes, I agree the Vs are definitely a completely different car to the old Rs and definitely serve a different market. To me, the Rs is more a boy racer car now, while the Vs seems more sophisticated. Again, just my humble opinion and I do apologise in advance if any of my comments didn't go too well with some. Cheers!
  9. Hey Dave... so you are going to use those tyres on the Cefiro or just to fit them and see how it goes? I still think the rims are great bargain! Always good to even keep them as spares (assuming it doesn't work on the Cefiro, which I think it will from the sounds of it and don't think 50 and 55 will make a big difference). Anyway, I went to CarColors yesterday and got myself a can of the paint I needed. As I am thinking of getting reverse sensors, I decided 2 get a spray can instead of just a 100ml bottle. Sprayed some out and used a brush to touch up the little scratch. Got the scratch fixed now and is happy with the colour! Yay! Thanks for recommending the place mate!
  10. Hey Dave, yeah, definitely super happy with the car! Like I said, loving every moment when I am in the car! Will try 2 put a few more photos of the car on here esp after I've got some reverse sensors on. I am thinking it should look ok if the sensors have matching colours. Anyway, how r the wheels? From the photos they look pretty nice and tidy. Would have been great if the tyres were in better conditions as then u can basically just use them! Hmmm... it's very nice of Car City to swap the rims. Do they put in nice aftermarket rims? I had a look at the website.... saw the M35 n V35 there. The manual one looks interesting but a little high on mileage....
  11. Hey guys. How's everyone going. Just thought I'll keep this thread alive by giving a little update on my experience with my car after almost 1 week of owning it. I've got really only good things to say about it really. Enjoying every moment I have in the car. It's really such a joy to drive n everyone in office who saw the car was so impressed with it as well. Gotta say it's probably the best car i've driven. Anyway planning some upgrades now. Will probably get a Bandwidth expander installed this weekend or next. Next is probably to put in some reverse sensors as well. Think I'll need to paint them to match the car colour though. Don't want a set of black ones on. Will visit carcolors that Dave recommended to get some paint for this.
  12. Well I m not really comparing it with other cars. And I did expect the car to have a firmer suspension compare to a sedan. It is a sports coupe afterall. So definitely not complaining n I do feel the ride is great. I guess my only little concern is really the noise level on bumpy road. It's still smooth though just abit noisier. But like I say I m not complaining as I m loving every second I m driving the car. The main reason I started the thread was just to know how others feel.
  13. Hi guys, just got my car for almost a week now. Before I got my car, I was watching a review of the G35 in youtube and the review was saying the car's suspension is smooth and nice and much better than the 350Z for usual roads. After 1 week of driving on NZ roads, i note that the car is nice n quiet on smooth tar road. However, when there are more bumpy roads, I note that the car's suspension is quite firm and the noise level is much higher. Just keen to know what's everyone's experience and verdict for their v35's suspension. Mine is stock suspension + stock Bridgestone Potenza 18 inch tyres.
  14. My car comes with i think the stock Bridgestone Potenza. Anyone know how good they are compared to those tyres mentioned here? Thanks!
  15. I am a proud owner of the v35. Haven't got the chance to drive a v36 yet but in terms of looks, i think the coupe is looking great just like the v35 n in terms of the sedan, i definitely like the v36 shape more. Interior also looks amazing! In terms of performance, if it's an improvement to the v35, it's definitely going to be super SWEET!!!
  16. Not too sure about Aussie law, but if you got hit from the back, chances are the taxi is at fault and you should be claiming insurance for repairs on your car from the taxi driver thru his 3rd party motor vehicle insurance. If you are not at fault, there shouldn't be any claim against ur insurance. So I don't think there is any issue with your insurance expiring although u better get it renewed ASAP!
  17. Hey Elie, I actually haven't seen a single one with the same colour here in Auckland since I started looking for a v35 coupe. Only saw some sedans before in that colour. Normally the v35 coupes here are silver, black or white. I think the colour is awesome! Mine's an auto. Pretty much stock in terms of the body and exhaust. The japanese owner is however nice enough to add in a pair of Alpine tweeters for the stereo and the best thing is the rim. It's a set of ProDrive forged rims! Certainly enjoying my car now!
  18. Hey Elie... I am actually not too sure what is the name of the colour. I know the code is B30 and Dave (Spong) was telling me it's call lakeshore blue in the US. Do we have the same colour? Somehow think this is a slightly more rare colour as I haven't seen many... which is good!
  19. Thanks for the info Dave! Have been busy all day today at work with meetings after meetings and only saw this now. I've drop carcolors a message via their website requesting for this and hopefully they will response soon. Keen to get the paint and cover the little rusty area ASAP. The scratch is so small and is on such a hardly visible part on the bonnet (basically it's at the tip of a corner) that I guess even the auction inspector didn't manage to pick it up as i would think they probably wouldn't give the car a 4.5 if they saw it. Well, I didn't see it too until last nite when I was applying some polish on the bonnet when I picked it up. Oh well, it's nothing major so a little touch up paint should do the job. Just need to get the paint in! Again, thanks for the help mate! Cheers!
  20. Thanks Andy! Appreciate the quick response! cheers!
  21. Hi! I tried doing a search in the forum with no luck. Can anyone direct me to where the transmission oil reservoir is located and how I can check the condition of the fluid? Thinking of having a look to decide if I want to bring my car to Nissan for a transmission oil flush and top up or not. Help is most appreciated! Thanks!
  22. Hi there! Has anyone used other power steering fluid? Or you guy have used Castrol Dextron III? My power steering fluid reservoir is a little low, so I thought I'll do a top up myself. Cheers!
  23. Yup! I get a beep too everytime I start the car. Once I start the car, the DVD drive will run and then "beep".
  24. Hey Dave! Congrats on the purchase! It's a very good buy indeed! Saw the seller selling a set of 17 inch Atenza rims as well! If I still have my previous car, I'll probably get a set too at that price as the rims I had is quite a lot of scratches on them. Anyway, thanks for the heads up on the cable as well. I am using a fm modulator atm and I think it's doing ok. Sounds quality is not the best, but it's decent enough. Planning to send the car for a bandwidth expander later this week or next. Oh, I notice this minor scratch on my car right at the edge of the bonet. Might need to really get a can of paint now to probably fix that so the info on the colour code you gave me is definitely coming in handy! Any idea how I can get some touch up paint quick? Saw like 2 on ebay but both are in the US. You reckon we can't get any here in places like Super Cheap Auto? Just that there's like a small 2mm area that's beginning to rust so keen to fix it ASAP. Using some tape to cover it atm...
  25. Thanks Alvin for the update! That's just great! Seems like I was not the only one that got worried when I first hear the noise then! Well, that's another reason why i just love this forum! The knowledge sharing availability here is just fabulous!
