  1. Yeah.... tbh, the wait was more unbearable than I have expected! I was initially thinking, well I have a decent car to use, I am in no hurry for the car, but then, I took quite awhile to finally win a car from the auction (due to my persistency on securing a car at a lower price), and then had to wait for 6 weeks for the car to make its way to Auckland and each day, the excitement just grew esp aftet I have test drove one b4 I won the auction. But yes, thx for the wishes! Certainly very happy to know it's coming to an end. Anyway, hope your car is doing ok! So is the shocks doing better after they "serviced" it? Yeah, i would think it needs to be fixed sooner rather than later too. Mainly coz I am the type that can't stand it knowing something is not rite in the car esp. problems that creates a weird sound in the car when it's running. Again, thx for the update on the service and issue. It's really great to know as much details as possible considering we have much lesser members here in NZ vs Aust.
  2. Hey Blade, thanks for the update! Looks like we've found potentially another good workshop 2 go to. I'll keep them in mind (touch wood, if I need anything done). So is the shocks now done? how's the car going now? Hmmm... i do agree with you, few weeks on the boat travelling miles from Japan to hear may do some damage to cars. The salt content from the sea breeze is also definitely not helping. But, well, that's what we have to risk on for getting an import and for the car we are getting, i would say it's definitely worth it for the price and quality we are getting. Anyway, my car just arrive yesterday and I've just test drove it last night. Feels just great! Can't wait for it to be complied and ready for pick-up which is going to be sometime next week.... 6 long weeks of waiting is finally coming to an end!
  3. Hey Stuart. Did u mean dec 2004? The s2 cars started coming out late 2004 as a 2005 facelift model if I m not mistaken. Mine is a nov 04 n it's an s2. I test drove the car today n it feels great. Waiting to get the car complied n I'll be off n running. I did try the tv screen n it's really tough as it's all in Japanese. It was quite dark when I tested the car so din really manage to try the tv much. If u have similar model as mine perhaps u can teach me a trick or 2 when u r good at it. Haha. Anyway enjoy ur car mate. Cheers.
  4. Dave, surprise surprise! The car was only actually collected TODAY!!! Quite surprising actually but regardless, at least it's collected now and it's in my dealer's yard now! Going over to check the car out and if all goes well, make the payment and get the car complied and registered. Sure hope tat doesn't take too long... Hopefully will have the car at home this weekend.
  5. Hey Stuart, Not too sure about the first few questions with regards to the car (as mine just arrive at the dealer today and I'll be heading there after work to try it out more), but for the english conversion, I think Andy was saying that the Russian company is apparently working on the s2 sat nav system and will probably be available later this year. Anyway, congrats on getting the car! And it does sound fun doing a road trip of 2,500km!!!
  6. Thanks for the info guys! Most appreciated!
  7. Hi everyone, I am from NZ and I saw on trademe that there are many reversing cameras for sale. Any idea if the one in the picture below can be connected to our v35 sat nav screen without any issue? THanks!
  8. Guys, just a quick question. I've seen in other threads that our v35 TV screen has an AV input which we can connect a reversing camera onto it. I saw that there are quite a few reversing camera for sale on trademe and is wondering will these cameras work if they are connected to the TV screen? Will it affect the TV screen / sat nav system in any way? Thanks!
  9. Hey Dave, thanks for the update! I was just doing some random lookaround in Super Cheap today as they are having this big sale apparently. Anyway, if anyone did try Transmax J, do update us! I'll be keen to find out the price and how it is as well! Re my car, surprisingly, from far, it looks really clean and nice. Doubt it get collected over the weekend as I was passing by yesterday night (around 11pm) after a friend's bday party and saw the car is still there. Hopefully it'll be collected tomorrow! And yes, it's looking quite lonely there too with only a few other cars in that parking area (although there're quite a few more cars further away in another parking area. Well, everything seems to be looking good now, just to wait for it to be collected, complied and then I can pay and get it registered! And at the same time, hope my Atenza will find a new home soon! Another person came today but seems to be more keen on a stationwagon.... hopefully more luck soon!
  10. Did anyone tried topping up their transmission fluid? I heard Castrol's Transmax J is the same as the Matic J of Nissan. Went to Super Cheap today and noted they only have Transmax M. Anyone seen the J? Also, I was looking at some roof racks on sale and not too sure if they can fit a v35 coupe. They seem to say it can fit most cars but not sure if it can fit a v35 coupe. Anyone knows? Just thinking I can get those detachable ones if I need 2 get to the ski field with my snowboards and wife together with 2 frens (in which case, I can lower the back seat to fit the boards. Anyway, Dave, u were right, i was at the wharf yesterday and saw my car there! It's park at the parking closest to the fence so I can see it clearly! Guess it's really gonna take a few days next week b4 I can possibly wish the get my hands on the car!
  11. Saw a great looking v35 coupe at about 6.20pm today on Ti Rakau Drive heading towards Botany. It's quite dark so can't see the colour but saw the car with a rear spoiler which looks great! Is the owner here?
  12. Yeah, gotta say, the worse part of importing is the long wait... i thought it would be relatively easy 2 wait as I have a car to use and it's just a matter of 1 month+ which seems to usually pass very quickly due to my workload in the office which made weeks pass like days! But since i secured this car, it does feel much much longer! Anyway, no call til now, so I guess my hope of getting a feel for the car over the weekend is gone (compliance don't work on saturday rite?). Well, it shouldn't be too long now I hope.... another few days won't be that bad I guess. I'll run over to the wharf today n c if the car is still there. Will be gutted if I still see it sitting there. Oh well, that's the price to pay for getting a car at a lower price....
  13. Welcome!!! Yeah! Glad to c another v35 owner here! I see lots of v35 sedans around but hardly see anyone with the car posting comments here! Really hope to form a little Kiwi community here to discuss topics and issues (if any). I am here a few weeks now and really find this place great to find out more details on the car! Anyway, where are you located in Auckland? Do post some photos of your car and hope to c u around! Also, mind telling where you got your car from? Well, enjoy the car! Mine's coming soon.... just waiting for my importing dealer to contact me when it's in his yard. Was hoping to c it today, but looking at it, with every passing minute, it's increasingly likely that I'll only be able to get hold of my car next week...
  14. Where's all the v35 in Sydney? I was in Chadswood, the City Central, Bondi Junction, Rosebury and I never ever see 1 single v35 around! Where are you guys?? Was really hoping to see some nice ones around.....
  15. Is there some kinda of spray that is available perhaps in pet store that you can spray to put cats off certain things? If you spray it near the car, that should scare the little rascal away! I vaguely remember seeing some kinda product like this b4. Not 100% sure though. Perhaps check with a big pet store.
  16. The Port's website says it arrived on 6th July, so it's now the 3rd day it's there. I'll just wait for my dealer to contact me to go see and collect the car when it's at his yard. He is saying it's going to be either tomorrow or early next week. Keep my fingers crossed that it'll be ready Anyway, when the car reach the port, does it need to go through any checks / test b4 it's released to the transporter? I know my dealer has at least 2 other cars coming in together with my car so hopefully if there's not much work there, it can come straight out and go for compliance and then be ready for collection. I am so so hoping to get my hands on it for a cruise this weekend 5 weeks is quite a long wait already for me... I've checked and know which wharf the car is in. So touch wood, if the car is still not out by tomorrow, I'll go have a look around on Saturday. The colour of the car is slightly more rare being blueish grey. I've seen many white, black and silver ones in auctions, but mine was the first I've seen. So hopefully there's not a lot of similar colour v35 coupe there! As for my Atenza, well, interest seems to be picking up. There's quite a few watchers on trademe now. Someone had a look the other day and seems quite happy but I think he is still shopping around. Another guy called is looks very eager as he kept asking if he view it on the weekend will the car still be available. So hopefully the timing will be just nice. Out go the Atenza and in come my new V35!
  17. Dave, just thought I'll update! My car has finally landed in Auckland! Thanks for your info on checking for ship arrivals in the Port of Auckland website. I got the shipping details fr my dealer and checked it against the website. Seems like it was there on Tuesday! Always thought it's coming tomorrow so I only checked yesterday and found out the ship is already at port. I recheck it again later yesterday night and noticed the ship was no longer in the "at port" list. Does that means it's already departed? Well, the car should be at the wharf now and my dealer is saying it should get to him later this week or early next week. I am of coz hoping it's gonna be this week!
  18. Spotted a cool looking v35 sedan in dark blue on Chapel Rd near the cinema yesterday at around 6.45pm. Super shinny n nice! I initially thought it was a coupe from far (as it was quite dark and I made a guess based on the lights).
  19. Completely agree on this. I do agree that for major servicing or issues (touch wood everyone's car won't have any of these), the official dealer should be the first option. However, for minor issues, I guess a more reputable independant workshop should do the job as well. For a more popular model cars esp Japanese ones, I think most decent workshops usually will have good experience working on them. With a M35 or V35, i guess it's slightly more rare and hence, I'll be tempted to go back to official dealers if there is any major things to be done. That being said, I never did have too good experience with Toyota and Mazda previously when I did have to approach them for some parts for my previous cars. Called them up to inquire about parts required (quarter mirror for Toyota and brake pads for Mazda) and just find them to be rather unhelpful. Toyota took like 3 days to come back with a quote and never offer any alternatives. I tried arranging with Mazda for servicing and replacement of brake pads. They quoted a high price and I sort of asked on alternatives for the pads n they were not very friendly on the response. Well, City Nissan, based on comments here does seems much better.
  20. Well, we now know there's some good mechanics in City Nissan and some not so good ones! I am still looking around for some so called Nissan "experts" outside the usual Nissan dealers. I've seen workshops stating they are Subaroo, BMW, Merc, Audi, etc experts, but just haven't found one for Nissan. Wonder if it's because Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mazda are all highly popular Jap cars that are relatively easy to fix that there's no market need for someone to advertise themselves as the experts.
  21. Seems like some difference in opinion on City Nissan. Well I guess it's really down to a who's the mechanic who did the service there at that time. Would assume there r good ones and some not as good ones. Chad, when did u sent ur car there? Someone mentioned that they may have improved with the new GTRs now being serviced by them n Nissan actually making sure that they are more well trained n equiped to do the job. Hopefully that's the case! So far, still haven't seen a more unanimous decision on a good place to send the car to. Has anyone tried TMG in Newmarket? They seems to say they are Nissan experts as well!
  22. Hey Mike, Thanks for the update! Looks like City Nissan is pretty good then! Will definitely consider sending the car there for major services then. So did you need to replace any parts at all or u basically had a full service + trans flust n underbody check? $650 for it seems pretty alright I guess although I haven't really sent a car back to Mazda / Toyota (my current and previous car) for servicing.
  23. Hey Dave, Yeah, i suddenly note that it's actually already past the half year mark! Silly me! Guess the russians are taking longer than expected but I guess with the investment of time n cost into the conversion, they need to be really careful to avoid having someone replicate their work without them getting the necessary benefits. Well, let's wait n c how it goes. Will be keen to c how u get on with getting an Ipod connected to the AUC input. Do keep me posted. Haven't seen my car so not too sure how this can be done atm. With regards to my Mazda, well I guess I am not as lucky as you. I did sold another car prior to this when I got my Mazda and that was sold relatively quickly and for a price that I am very happy with. It's just timing as had I got my car 1 month earlier, i would have sold my Mazda at the price I want. Now it seems like it's a little quiet although I do think and hope my price is not too high (based on what i see on trademe). And yeah, thanks for ur well wishes! Do hope the car is sold within this 2 weeks to clear my garage n get some $$$ back into the bank!
  24. Hey Tony, Quick question. You fill ur car up immediately when the low fuel warning light is on? Perhaps that's the reason why it's only 60L? Anyway, an average of 500km for 60L is not too bad at all I guess. My little Mazda 6 tends to go around 600km for a full tank and I usually fill around 55L in it. Considering the extra performance in a v35, i guess it's a good trade-off!
  25. Hey Dave, saw Andy's posting here:- http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/V3...on-t319023.html Post #18. I am also thinking of whether i need to get it done or not. My wife knows chinese and hence should be able to read some japanese to hopefully understand what's stated there. Without any modifications to have anything included in the sat nav screen (dvd, GPS, etc), i think the only useful info there is probably the fuel consumption statistics and trip meter reading which I am sure I can understand. So i guess it really depends on the price of the conversion I guess but will be good knowing it's available. Hopefully we'll here some good news from Andy. My car is a late 2004 (Nov 2004) to be exact so should be the first few batches of the s2 which means it should be the older version of the Nav unit. I don't think I can pair bluetooth or anything based on what I see from the auction sheet and what my dealer told me. So guess we have a different nav unit. I haven't really thought of wat i want to do with the screen atm. When I was looking for a car, i was hoping for one tat has a nav unit as I thought it's quite good to have the fuel consumption data. Looking back now, perhaps one without the TV will be easier to sort out in terms of changing the stereo etc. But still like the car with the nav system as it looks more cool! I saw ur photos of ur stag and there's one showing the tv screen with a picture there. Is it that a DVD player hooked to the screen or did u somehow manage to make the TV screen work? Finally, yes, my Atenza is still on trademe atm. I had someone a month back offering $13k for it then but I couldn't sell it tat time as I won't get the v35 for another 5 weeks and I need a car to drive to work n back so had to reluctantly refused. Initially listed the car as I thought I'll get a car fr a yard here and was not expecting to import myself. So far, there has been heaps of watchers (50+ prior to relisting) It's getting quite a number of watchers again this time after 5 days of listing it. I had someone calling me last weekend to set a time to view the car. Suppose to come at 3pm but I've waited for the whole evening without hearing from him again! Horrible ppl. And yes, there has been a few ridiculous offers below $10k as well which is rejected flatly. Anyway, saw quite a few cars around the same mileage n year going for fairly similar price by some dealers. But would still say it's a fairly good price for age n mileage + the few additional little add-ons I've put in. Hopefully there'll be someone taking it soon. Just need the garage space for the new car! Saw a stag in Flat Bush area last Thursday and tot it could be you until I remember urs is a blue one and the one I saw was a silver. I gotta say I haven't really seen too many stags around in Botany n Howick area where I live.
