  1. was the engine cold when you left the driveway? if so the smoke may be due to the engine running rich having been on the ecu cold start program
  2. if your using all the "turbo" parts on your car you are bringing the (originally non turbo)car up to the same specs as a factory turbo car making rego easier for you
  3. yeah no worries Skylow, dont let the dickheads with the smart arse comments get you down, if you want more info on 34s you can do what i did and google R34 GT specs and you will find heaps of helpful info there
  4. importing a non turbo R34 may be your best option, there are HEAPS of companies that advertise in magazines .for example PERFORMANCE IMPORTS magazine

  6. better stay away from those that tell you the RB hasnt got lifters! the hydraulic lifters are located in the head
  7. you dont NEED to purchase anything except for the lock bar for the steering rack at the rear axle, the hicas lines can be taken off the car along with the other associated hardware, use a non hicas power steering pump and your done (hicas steering pump has feed for hicas)
  8. yes its not too bad at all, i picked up a nistuned R31 computer/turbo injectors / turbo n oil and water lines/exhaust manifold / dump pipe/cross over pipe real cheap, the gent wanted $650 for the lot but i got it for $350 but as the turbo had a lot shaft play and needs a recon
  9. do you mean price on the VL gear? if so it depends on condition but anywhere up to ~$1000 for everything that you need
  10. if the engine/trans/rear axle is in good condition to begin with then it wont go bang, if not then fix/overhaul first and it will be fine, heaps of info on how to wire in vl ecu on R31 skyline club forums
  11. (put grinder away)remove the lines that go to the back of the car/ remove the hicas rack at the back/ fit hicas lock bar/get wheel alignment for the rear wheels= done
  12. the std cam/head/compression wilbe fine for light turbo charging, best bolt on is a complete setup from a vl commodore turbo including ecu
  13. its cheap alright, have seen the VH45 DE priced from $1500 and upwards
  14. especially the ferkn handbrake! brakes are same size as a pintara with a CA20E with naff all power
  15. as stated by Daleo, an exhaust and extractors will make f**k all difference to power output so use ANY extractors that you want to use and dont go too big on the pipe (agree with the droney)
  16. for a more modern twist try a VH45DE, still have that awesome V8 sound and well as OHC and 4 valves per cylinder, not any more hassle than fitting a LS1/cheaper to buy/putting a nissan motor into a nissan, fits into a 31 with ease as ive seen one in a HR31 coupe
  17. the bumpers do look a bit daggy but come up REALLY good if painted the same colour as the body

  19. a highly refined version of LPG was used years ago but as stated above, it can go BOOM if / when it leaks into the cabin, aircon systems would only need to be run once a week during winter to keep the seals lubed up, also helps with keeping the windscreen demisted
  20. Havnt you tried that?? (tee hee) best backyard fix ive seen pics of was of a ute (in a small african country)where the owner had lost the rear tyre off the rim and replaced said tyre with a garden hose and he was driving it around like that
  21. it wilbe easy to get rego on the non turbo body if you drop all the turbo running gear (inc exhaust ecu etc) into a R33 (easiest option)
  22. for ease of fitment it would be easier to go for a stock replacement style radiator, at least you will be able to refit your stock engine fan and shroud, doable for under $300 depending on brand
  23. i believe that its a cooler due to its location, as said above, throw a trans cooler at the power steering and it wont boil on you again
  24. can i ask where you got your MSD window switch from? are they easy to wire in and setup?
