downer EDI are putting up the new speed cameras at traffic lights everywhere, was working at night time at the intersections of guildford road/garret road, the damn thing was flashing like crazy. . . at the same intersection there is a red light camera which is activated by driving over a sensor wire cut into the road about 1 metre in front of the stop line, the wire itself is layed out in a rectangular shape across the lanes, it becomes "live" within 2 seconds of the light changing red unlike the speed camera which is waiting for you all the time, a guy at work went thru one of these set ups at hutton/scarborough beach roads , cost him about $650 in fines
