  1. tell him to take his exsmell back to his mama
  2. have read many things about WI , as stated above it must enter as a mist or it will cut thru the turbo. .another benefit is that it breaks down the carbon that sits on your pistons and in the combustion chambers, go for it mate and keep us posted on your results including stuff like if the cars fuel consumption changes
  3. my gf has the 1M-FE (i think) V6 3 litre auto in her avalon . . good economical motor with no issues, cheap parts, easy to fix, just a bit hard to access anything on the back of the motor
  4. my gf has a avalon 1M-FE (i think) 3 litre V6 auto . . has 200,000ks on the clock and doesnt seem to want to stop, all weve had to do is have the rocker cover gaskets changed + regular servicing and minor stuff like brake pads (easy to do yourself)and parts are cheap and plentifull. . . .bloke over here in the west dropped a (aftermarket) turbo version in his MR2 , goes like hell
  5. Fark i feel for you mate. . . was northbound on the freeway (over vincent st) coupla years ago and watched a tradie running back down the breakdown lane in an effort to pick up the aluminium ladder that dropped off his ute, by the time he picked it up it had been run over several times, cant imagine the damage to tyres/suspension and rims that he had done due to his carelessness
  6. ^^ this is good advice
  7. do you know why the HG blew in the first place?detonation? overheating?corrosion of the coolant passages?you will have to sort that out as well otherwise you could pop the next HG that you put on it
  8. get it sand blasted off . . neutralise the rust then paint it and hit it with underbody sealer-fixed
  9. there is a spring like device (dunno what its called) that you can put over straight hoses that enable you bend the hose without it kinking, that may be an option if the nissan parts guy tells you the hose(s) your after have to come from japan and you haveto wait weeks to arrive
  10. geez im glad my mind isnt as closed as yours. . .just because you have done an a mechanics apprenticeship (did you pass?)doesnt mean you know it all, BTW i have built a number of "A" series , "L" series and RB motors with no issues at all
  11. if you havnt tried it DONT KNOCK IT!
  12. if the other guys car wasnt regoed at the time of the crash then he hasnt got a legal leg to stand on and you SHOULDNT have to give him a bent cent. . .talk to the DPI and the coppers before any money changes hands
  13. you obviously havnt tried it . . ive done it many times with numerous motors over the years and havnt had ANY fail nor has it affected the longevity of said motors, the amount of crap that ive gotten out of engines is unbelievable and when you have done it properly you dont contaminate your fresh clean oil with built up crap in your bottom end
  14. drop the oil and run some diesel through it
  15. have you tried the likes of repco / supercheap or maybe one of the business that advertise on this forum might havem?
  16. . so you you want to pull a recon trans apart so you can fit stronger parts?your keen with deep pockets that for sure, i know info is limited but you might want to investigate this 5 speed AT some more. . .you might find your car is pulling the same revs in 5th as it would with the 4 speed auto, aftermarket ecu to run it? MIGHT be something out there
  17. ^^ plenty rust converters out there . . a good one that ive used before is called RANEX, follow the instructions and you cant go wrong
  18. the marks on the cam are nothing to worry bout, if you want to clean the TB then use NULON THROTTLE BODY AND CARBY cleaner, instructions are on the can, good stuff
  19. afaik it is expensive paint to buy and needs dead straight panels before its applied
  20. from your pic it looks like all the damage is only to the bumper. whip it off and take it to a bumper repair business and they should be able to chuck it into an oven and the plastic returns to its former shape. . as for the cost? depends on how much of the above you can do yourself
  21. ive found that even a small change in capacity changes the exhaust note, years ago i swapped out a A12 for an A14 and used exactly the same exhaust system on both motors, the A14 was a lot quieter and had a SLIGHTLY deeper note
